Another year, another season, another completely pointless World Championship series...

And so here we are again, at the Grand Final of Season VII... and it's exactly the same as last year. Samsung Galaxy vs SKT, Korea vs Korea. Again.

Frankly, I don't even know why Riot bother holding the World Championship any more (I'm being facetious of course, they hold Worlds because they make a shitton of money off it). "The World Championship" is the LCK. No other team from any other region is even worthy of competing. The only time a Korean team was eliminated from contention in this event was when Samsung had to play Longzhu. There were a couple of scares, but I'd believe you if you told me the Korean teams threw those games to create false tension, because they're simply flat-out better than everybody else. Korean teams can come back from ANY deficit, but the INSTANT they get ahead of an opponent it's over; nobody comes back against them. Nobody can beat Koreans except Koreans.

And yeah, simple fact is Koreans are simply the best, have always been the best, will always be the best. Can't deny that, can't do anything about it.

But the problem is, it makes Worlds as boring as SHIT, because you know all the results in advance. Oh sure, you don't know what the rest of the peons are going to accomplish, but you know that in the end everyone who faces a Korean team will lose (except another Korean team, of course) and the final will be Korea vs Korea again. So frankly, the entire event is pointless. Hell, the entire year of competitive play is pretty much pointless, because you know that every single team outside of the LCK isn't even a contender.

I'm not even interested in watching the Grand Final. Korea wins either way, and frankly the Korean teams aren't even different enough from each other for me to be interested. They play pure meta because they just have so much skill they don't even need to innovate or try weird surprise tactics. They play very standard, meta, boring LoL and they do it to perfection. This has been one of the most boring Worlds series ever, and frankly I don't think I'm even going to bother watching pro LoL at all in 2018. What's the point? SKT and Samsung have basically killed LoL as a spectator esport.

You know...I spent 6 weeks watching this World Championship with the utmost of dedication. The amazing plays, misplays, and variety across teams. There were upsets and often disappointments. But in no way will I say that it wasn't worth it.

So the hell what it's a Korean finals! To some people, they can be accomplished for predicting such since the start of the season. But I'll be damned if anyone says they didn't have to fight their hearts out to earn it against whatever doubts and wavering tendencies that were produced through the duration of the entire event!

Anyone can be a goddamn debby downer because it's "Wah...KR vs KR again. Best blah blah" and whatnot. But if that's all that ever mattered to you, why even watch in the first place? Is it because you expect change? Is it because memes devoured your soul as a spectator so you can't enjoy anything else and rather funnel whatever pessimism you have into a post like this? Yes it sucks to some passionate fans, but in no way does that annihilate the competition.

So if it really burns you inside that it's a KR vs KR final because both teams earned their way there instead of running over everyone, then don't watch. Don't tune in to the broadcast. Have a nice post season. Just declare you're done.

I'm not upset about the korea vs korea match up. Whats makes me mad is that it is literally the exact same teams as last year in finals.

What are you trying to say? Maybe not invite korea next year because they are too good for china, na, and eu and make the largest event of the year like a minor league? Maybe bribe koreans to lose intentionally? Or are you suggesting they should lose for your entertainment? They are pros for reasons. They earn money through this. Don't blame the tournament or korean teams for boring finals. Blame other teams for not trying hard enough because that is the core reason why the final is gonna be boring.

Some care only for Regions, some care only for results. Do as you please.

But I care for good and exciting games - and hell yeah we got those. In my opinion this years worlds has been amazing. One of the best so far. I enjoyed the META I enjoyed all the different strategys build around it. I enjoyed watching the evolution of comps and bans.

Who cares where the players and teams come from? That doesn't matter at all. Watching the different interpretations of META clash - seeing rookies taking on the big ones.

We had the amazing marines whoes unique playstyles influence reaches even the Semis. We had Fanatic living the dream of coming into Quarters from a 0-4 in groups. We had Misfits the underdogs nobody gave chance NEARLY taking out SKT! Damn this was so close. x'D

And now their are the two best Teams in the world are facing each other at high stakes. Two teams that have shown being brilliant at closing games and keeping leads. SSG with incredible dominant playstyle taking away EVERYTHING without even fighting. And SKT who seem litterally immortal in terms of Bo5s. Since they always come back and they always "download" their opponents becoming unstoppable in game 5. (They're playing like freaking Saiyans in this reagard - you think you beat them? to bad - power up think again! - lel xD)

I 100% agree with this post.

Edit: All the regions should have to face themselves off the bat to get a better regional representation in the finals. When you have two out of eight teams that are western (not just NA) it gets boring real quick.
