What the hell is going on with the NA LCS?!?

R0XTAR··6 votes·1,347 views

Just got on ESPN and saw that aside from 4 or 5 teams, everything is getting dismantled..

IMT is my second favorite team, even though the roster completely changes every year. WHY RITO?!?!?

If IMT is out, you're losing a shit ton of money for LCS, icons, etc.

But you know this is all about making it easier for TSM, C9, and CLG... isn't it. [sg-ahri-1]

People are saying they got rejected because the organization has teams I other games. If that’s true, C9 will be out as well

"People are saying..."

That's a nonsense argument, basically every team but TSM has a significant presence in other games.

The most likely reason they were rejected is because Immortals has been unable to prove that they are stable financially. It's the boring reason that people don't want to hear, but it's really the only one which makes sense.

Doesn't TSM have one in Overwatch league but they just withdrew (20 millioin buy in LMAO)

IMT has the financial backing to branch into Overwatch but Riot thinks they're too risky. This is a hatchet job to remove a threat to a couple of Riots favorite teams, while keeping a couple of crap teams for them to continue beating on.

If that was the case. all of the teams would have to be rejected. Every team that was in the summer split fields multiple E-Sport teams. And as far as I know, everyone but possibly the unnamed team held by the owners of the Golden State Warriors basketball team that has been rumored to have been approved all have multiple E-sport teams.

C9 is already in though.

They announced it?

Per the same ESPN author that says IMT is out.

IN: TSM C9 CLG Team Liquid Echo Fox (NEW) OpTiC (NEW) Unnamed team owned by a GoldenState Warrior's co-owner

Unknown: Flyquest

OUT: NV IMT P1 Team Dignitas

Additionally, CLG barely made the cut and likely would not have been accepted without the MSG deal earlier this year.

Starting to sound like there's a strong chance G2 could get accepted as well...

I heard a rumor that they applied for NALCS but I'm assuming this would be a completely new team fielded? Or how would that even work?

EDIT: THIS is the article I was referring to. Notice it's a bit dated and I have no clue how official the source is.

As of this morning Flyquest and The Cleveland Cavaliers are in, G2 declined

So traditional sports are failing and then they roll into the esport world and remove anyone they cant control

Apparently it's "franchised" whatever the fuck that means honestly. Can someone explain this in detail. I'm thoroughly confused...

They are being vague

All of the franchises are the league as a whole. No more winning a spot in, or losing hard and getting kicked out.

They get revenue sharing from the league, as one of the big draws to the structure as a whole.

It's a moderately complicated legal and contractual process. We don't know the exact terms, as there's lots of NDA (non-disclosure agreement) at work. Once there's an official announcement about it all, we'll likely get all of the core agreement released

Gotcha, thank you kindly for the explanation!

They are essentially structuring the NALCS after most other professional sports: Look at Football, Basketball or any other major sport.

GG to the NA lcs >.> guess TSm can prey xmities to join tsm now lol

Xsmithie is honestly someone TSM needs.

IMT is broke, they have been running at a net loss for a while now. If they remained in the NA LCS, they would bring nothing to the revenue sharing. They would just leech off of other teams.

From the ESPN article announcing IMT is out of NALCS

"Second update: Immortals CEO Noah Whinston provided a statement, saying "We cannot comment on our status in the League Championship Series or our specific revenue, but Immortals has significant financial resources from our investors, including AEG and Lionsgate, and we do not operate at a different financial structure than other esports teams in the industry."
