Most people don't pick based on the champions. It's basically order vs chaos, red vs blue, or icons that they preferred.
I mean. The icons aren't directly related to Yasuo or Riven- by themselves they're just generic fire/light demon/angel themed icons. The wards too.

I don't understand why people hate yasuo. well ok I understand why they find his gameplay annoying - but IMO yasuo is actually relatively easy to beat when you play verses him enough times. he still gets tricks i didn't expect - and that I find exciting. I LIKE playing against yasuo compared to other champions, 'cause when he outplays me it's a legit outplay. I'm impressed. he got a lot of damage and mobility? so what. as 
, EVERYONE has a lot of damage and mobility lol. it's par for the course as far as I see it. my responsibility is learning the enemy's capabilities, and figuring out how to beat them with quality positioning and strategic mapmovements alone. plus being super fed if the enemy botlane are noobs xD

I went with Order purely because of the icon and the vague chance I might actually get to play riven. Yasuo is one of THE most banned champions in the league right now, hovering at around ~60% ban. What's the point in investing in a champion I will never be able to play?
Personally I went with Riven just because I can't stand playing against/with toxic Yas mains that blame me for not following up on his 1v4/1v5. Riven players may be salty and toxic, but at least some of them don't blame the team for their failures.
And I wanted Hextech Annie.. xD

Yasuo people are too busy trying to get him through ban phase to write on the boards.
Sadly only 1 in 10 appear to succeed, which is still kind of amazing.
The real reason he won is that people actually hate Riven more, it's just that she isn't nearly as played as he is. That's what I realized when this event started, I'd rather support him than her and I thought I hate him more than anything.
Because more people play Yasuo, and thus have a greater chance of getting Yasuo vs Riven games.
It's no surprise who was going to win the event.
