What happened to Thresh?
I was just wondering if there is some high elo player out there that can explain thresh's complete disappearance in competitive play.

Thresh has been picked a couple times during the regular season in the NA lcs so he hasn't completely vanished. I think thresh is just too high risk having to land hooks to do pretty much any thing against the worlds meta of poke supports. A lot of the time you don't want to/cannot take a hook when coordinated 5 man bot is a possibility.
Three things: -He's a little undertuned right now, other champs have flat-out better stats. -He doesn't really do anything specific. While Nami has lane pressure and Alistar has engage/teamfighting, Thresh is alright in each of them without being that good in either. Why pick him when you can take one or the other and have a specific team comp? -His play pattern around his hook is very telegraphed and, without being an insane Thresh player (which, to be fair, many LCS players are), you won't hit too many from decent range.
Would you rather him be picked banned every game just so he can be nerfed?
one reason. literally one reason. hes too squishy too do anything early game. in pro play. the first early levels matter more than anything. thresh has the lowest base armor in game because he gains over time from souls. otherwise hes very good and well rounded.
