Easy way to increase warding in games

Whatever is visibly measured is deemed important in anything in our modern world.

Test scores are how we measure how well a school is doing, GDP tells us how strong the economy is, etc

Therefore, to promote warding its measurement has to be OBVIOUS, which leads me to my simple suggestion:

Current: KDA - kills/deaths/assists

New: KDAW - kills/deaths/assists/wards

(Edit: wards would also have to include nonward trinket use, or maybe wards destroyed along with wards placed)

The ward number will be shown only to YOUR TEAM during the game or AFTER the game to everyone so the enemy doesn't gain information from it. Because the majority of players in low elo are driven by their score, putting this number up front, and not hidden in the extended stats will motivate them to ward more.

When they see the enemy player who carried go 10/3/8/17 and they were 3/8/5/3 they are more likely to see the power of warding.

I would hate to promote team comps where no one gets item 3364. Love the idea though. Not sure though if it should happen.

Personally I prefer the KDAWKWTITADBCS. The KDA Ward Kills Wards Turret Inhib Turret Assist Dragon Baron CS stat

I think it should be displayed more prominently, but not quite with KDA, since KDA is used to calculate Kill Participation per Death - (K+A)/D=Number of Enemies you help kill per 1 death. It would be weird to attach wards to that.

But there definitely needs to be a more visible representation for vision control, its like my number one stresser in my games in Gold. Even if Im losing in Jungle, I can still control vision for my team which can help them carry me into a win. I always find myself being the only one buying multiple control wards per game and having to ward/clear wards for my laners WAYY to often, and then that makes it harder to gank and obviously the jungler gets flamed for "not performing"

Player buys a sightstone and spams the place ward hotkey 100 times in base, sells sighstone "There I put down the most wards."

What about all the wards put down in the worst possible spot?

I think warding is important, believe me, I made two videos on my YouTube channel about warding and Im planning at least 3 more (these are short focused videos 2-3 minutes easy to watch focused concepts). That said, me being a support main, making videos about warding, this is the wrong thing to add to help people to ward.

In the post game statistics, we need:

Wards placed Wards destroyed Enemies spotted by wards Enemies spotted duration

Stats to be implemented.

Warding is important, and only people who understand all the important and useful things to do in a match will truly climb. There is no need to hamfist people into dropping their ward in a useless location the second its off cooldown to pointlessly rack up their KDAW number.

I like that youre a fan of warding, and I agree that people need to be compelled to do it a bit more, but Im not sure this wouldnt potentially make vision worse in some elos, and I know thats saying something...

I think if we started with the post game statistics it would let people see something that may have contributed to their defeat. AKA the teams that are warding more than my team win more. You have to view ward statistics in the web viewer as things stand now, no ward data in the client.

I wouldn't want it right in your KDA. I say we put it next to Creep Score, call it Vision Score, and make it the total number of wards you've placed and total number of enemy wards you've destroyed.

If you have item 2049 item 3364 and notice that you have less VS than your top lane you know you're doing something wrong.

I think the idea is headed in the right direction, but this is so easily abusable. You could just spam wards in base of you bought a sightstone. Hell even if you didn't cheese it like that you know people would drop random trinket wards like right next to turrets just to boost their numbers.

trinkets, yes, wards no. you just have to buy a sightstone, sit in base, and spam wards, as SS will refresh every time you ward.

This would have been a good idea back when wards cost 75 gold each and you could buy as many as you want, but now they are highly limited by trinkets/sightstones so this is a useless stat. It's better to save your trinket ward and use it in the enemy jungle when you get the chance to do so safely than to just use it on cooldown willy nilly.

I don't want people placing trinket wards in random spots as soon as they come off cooldown just to improve their KDAW.

But for the time being KDAW system doesn't exist yet. Players who ward shouldn't do it to boost their score. They should do it to increase their team's vision.

Besides, number of wards doesn't mean much. A single vision control ward in the river can mean much more than a ward in lane, which only reveals a single bush. Also, this would boost Lee's score a lot. IS THIS WHAT YOU WANT?

Interesting idea.

Personally I like the idea of a usefulness ratio - something like: [K+A+(W/10) ]/D where K = kills, A = assists, W = wards placed and killed, D = deaths

Far from a perfect solution though...runs into issues with those roles that tend to favour blue wards (not to mention the use of control wards).

Personally I'd ward more if Wards would just refill gradually in lane. I'm getting so sick of playing Support only to back every 2 minutes because I run out of wards so fast. And since my team won't let me keep Warding Trinket and I need to swap it for Sweeping Lense, that only further enforces lack of sight.

Riot Games is like "Supports fall short on EXP..." and ignore that the reason for that is how damn useless Sightstone is for the Support itself. 150 health, 3 wards, GREAT! My AP Supports really need 150 health, and they especially need 3 wards that last for 2 minutes and then force me to back to base for more 2 minute wards that expire and force me to back while my ADC is having a jolly time farming and having fun at the game.

I think people would build Sightstone if there were two versions of Sightstone. One that gives you 30 AP and 3 wards, and one that gives you 150 health and 3 wards. Or, you know, just increase the time wards last I guess. 2 minutes is not a lot, considering that 20 seconds of time are already wasted trying to deep ward against the enemy while your ADC is dying.
