When the same region wins over and over, it steals excitment away from a tournament

Because the results of the tournament become too predictable.

I am not saying SKT should be banned from league tournaments because they are good (thats stupid, that'd be like banning a basketball team for being too good).

I am saying that if SKT weren't participating the tournament would be more interesting because it would be "anybody's game" again, at least moreso than it is now.

There is just too much of a skill gap between the different regions. I think RIOT's strategy on this issue was to let people's competitive nature close the gap, but apparently that hasn't been enough.

I don't have any answers, but I'm still making this thread because perhaps you do.

Pressuring teams out of tournaments because they are good at the game is entirely contradictory to sportsmanship and everything a fair competition stands for. Riot doesn't need to do anything in this regard, because there is nothing to do. Either other teams rise up to SKT's level, or they keep getting stomped by them. This is how competition works.

Maybe if teams would use their heads and work as hard as SKT does. Another thing, if a team is ahead of SKT, they need to work to close out the game instead of play the "IM JUST GONNA CAMP A LANE CARD AND NOT GET ANYONE ELSE PRESSURE AND GET OUR TEAM MEMBER FED INSTEAD OF WORK AROUND THAT FED MEMBER AND ROAM WITH HIM SINCE HE'S SO FAR AHEAD OF FAKER" shtick. Either work as hard as SKT or get the fuck out lol

I would have put the tournament different, with 13 teams I would have made 3 groups of 4, let the 4 major regions as seeds (leaving SKT outside) make them play against each other once (best of 3) and let 2 pass. Then go a knock out stage with those 6 teams (1st vs 2nd) and finally to a semifinals and finals (3 teams + SKT). That would have made games more baalnced but will gurantee SKT a position on the next tournament (I think is worlds) but then again...is nto like it will happen.

The problem is that there really isn't anything RIOT can do. If they ban SKT from the tournament, that defeats the purpose of the whole competition thing. If SKT stays, then no watches because the result is boring. It will continue to happen until competitive League of Legends dies even more that it already has. Every region is the same and predictable and every world event is the same and predictable. That's why viewership is dropping.

And be careful pointing out the lack of excitement and dying nature of competitive league of legends. 80% of the people who get on the boards to discuss issues are loyal and blind to the problems of the game and play. They only get on here to put people down and crap on people for pointing out obvious issues. They will toxic and salt you to death for it. Heads up.

answers? get the correct infrastructure and scrim against better opponents, the west need to be able to scrim Vs Korea, china, Taiwan etc.

theres no answer, the upside is there will not be another org like SKT anytime in thenear future there a true ''phenomenon' as far as sports/esports go and will have a fall from grace sooner rather than later, as soon as Kkoma leaves i guarantee they will slump.

What is scarier is that SKT is more dominant over Korea than TSM in NA. I mean since season 5; 4/5 LCK championships 3/3 MSI final appearances 1/2( likely 2/3) MSI champions, 2/2 world championships, and have only lost 2 BO5's both of which went to silver scrapes ( one of them had easyhoon in 3 games making you wonder what would have happened if Faker played 5 games).

Thats like saying Michael Jordan wasnt exciting, usain bolt, Lebron James, the patriots(Ihate them but theyre good), etc.. It may not be exciting for opposing fans but it doesnt take away from the masterful performance this team continuosly puts on.

SKT should just be the end boss, so at least we have one final before where we dont know who will win^^
