IEM Gyeonggi 2016 Where 30 min waits in between games happen, 40+ min of casters talking about what we just saw no more than 2 mins ago, so far IEM Gyeonggi 2016 has more talking and filler than actual gameplay. 20-25 min games < 30-40 mins filler
And to be honest i find it incredible stupid that his is happening.
I was watching Starcraft 2 after YEARS of not giving 1 single fuck about it and im quite please with how fast the games are now and how fast is goes from game to game. I remember back in Wing of Liberty it would take a long time for no damn reason, yet now is like they steped up their game.
But Rito, keeps the same waste of time since the beginning and is quite annoying.
To be fair, apparently LoL was introduced to iem later than the other games (counterstrike/starcraft being the first two games to really "start the idea" with this and more recently overwatch joining in). For me, the bigger problem is the lack of actual competition at these events. While they may have a few "surprises" (rox/ssg), noone really cares if the 5th place EU team beats the 4th place NA team. Better competition could make more teams want to attend these events, which in turn could allow them to make these go longer/draw more viewership.
Honestly I am fine with it once I get into the game, sure there are a few tech issues but the point is to watch the game once it gets up.
Would this be an IEM fault or an OGN fault? The group stage was being done like an OGN broadcast as is, hence the various things you'd see from layouts, flow of broadcast, etc. They explained the long break as well. It's ridiculous how the one time IEM is running ahead of schedule but can't keep the show going on due to OGN Broadcasting constraints, it's IEM's fault.
One of the many reasons why IEM is really annoying. It would be great if we had some other non-Riot event that we could have during offseason for teams to play in, because this one sucks.
