All I remember are those people who said "We want IMT and not CLG" last year, and the same people who said "We finally get the 3 teams that we wanted last year" IMT 2-5 < CLG 3-3 Cody did like 0 dmg through out 4 or so games, Xmithie didn't know wtf he was doing and Pobelter was completely useless.

DarkRitual3 votes

Classic Immortals strategy. Do well during competitons early and choke when you're in an elimination game.

III BAKURYU III 3 votes

IMT really only needed to win 1 game to make it out of groups with FNC being 0-3 and GAM being 1-2 I think, but no IMT had to lose 4 straight games. They chocked 4 times and now they need good ol' cough drops.

2015 C9 all over again. I Had not seen it coming back then but when IMT lost to GAM, I had a sinking feeling this would go down the drain...

That's way worse than 2015 C9, to be honest. Everyone knew that the first week of C9 was due to juggernauts (the busted Gangplank getting through bans vs ahQ, Darius penta vs FNC) + Tristana cheese, and that they were inferior to ahQ/FNC, C9 and NA fans just hoped they could win vs iG in week 2, iG that had underperformed despite having some good individual players (top half of the map) and was considered a possible dark horse before the tournament

This time IMT wins in week 1 were actually legit and they only needed to get past GAM once (and they likely had two chances at worst with tiebreaker) or beat FNC and hoping in a FNC win vs GAM that was not impossible. The 0-3 combined vs GAM and FNC that were/are considered a team around IMT level was just a disaster

I blame Ssong for putting Xmithie on Ez. Never have him jungle Ezreal again.

More importantly, DUMP FLAME! That unnecessary trash dive against Fnatic that led to the ace and loss. Losing to goddamn Archie from GAM? On top of his flops in the LCS finals, this guys is exposed as trash anytime the meta doesn't favor J4 or Renekton. Get rid of this garbage if you want your team to ever succeed.

III BAKURYU III 1 votes

Xmithie honestly looked like he didn't give a s$it through out the whole day, and his play really showed. I also agree, the Ezreal pick was horrible, he's not a dmg dealer, he's more of a peel tank. The Rek'sai would have been a great choice for him, instead of a champion that he's known for missing like everything on.
Flame seemed like the only player on IMT that actually did something in my opinion.

Overall, it's NA and what else do you expect from this region.

ChompyWulf1 votes

Xmithie is a good play maker either with peels or initiation. He's done well with Elise, I wouldn't be surprised if he could perform well with Reksai or even Ivern for the Censer and free Olleh from having to play a shielding support. Ez is simply too narrow in use and it was horrible.

Flame does alright, but he screwed up bad several times. The dive vs Fnatic which saw IMT's only tank melted and resulted in an ace and loss when they had the game in hand and could win by siege. He got wrecked by goddamn ARCHIE, the consensus weak link on GAM and possibly weakest top in Group stage.

Flame has been exposed as only good at farm and a fighter top meta. He doesn't split push well with duelists. He can't tank well at all. He has several times started terrible team fights with awful position that has cost key games. He's not worth keeping because he can't adapt.

agreed. Now Eu suddenly think fnatic is good for some reason just because they beat a team that wouldnt have even made it to worlds if c9 took second seed. Only reason they got second was c9 expiramenting swapping out ray and impact costed them a few matches. Clg would most likely have won the gauntlet. Either way its irrelevant seeing as fnatic is just going to get rekt by rng/skt. Pretty sure even c9 will dumpster them. Eu has a history of their best teams getting knocked out by wildcards and g2 is already out. Doubt misfits will do much either. Kabum-alliance AnX-G2 fnatic losing to omg by 1 hit on the nexus. Their most memorable worlds moments honestly is losing to wildcards or losing in spectacular ways like losing to one hit on the nexus.

Soooooooo crative of you. Enlighten me then what as Eu actually won that mattered? They won one worlds before korea showed up or the meta was even settled. In the last 3 years they have acomplished nothing other than losing in spectacular ways. Even UoL would do better internationally than g2 at least theyre harder to predict

Luck help the braves. When you have a top 5 teams in a competition (and FNC, OG in S5 and H2K in S6), you can luck out and have them finishing in top 4.

Next time NA have a top 5 team in a World tournament just give a call...

CLG would have gotten destroyed if they would have played in the play-in stages, we're talking about a team that was pure offense, and not to mention they can't beat IWC teams to save their lives. Getting beat by Pain Gaming, Super Massive and Albus Nox all within 2 years. However, if CLG were in fact in Group B to begin with, Yes, I do think they would have been able to make it out.
The fact is, 1 down..... 2 to go for NA

Walmart Porn1 votes

Ya i dont care about clg much personally because ever sense they lost rush hour they are garbage. But imt is equally garbage without reignover and huni. If i had to pick 1-2 teams of na to acomplish anything it wouldnt be either of them

III BAKURYU III 1 votes

CLG got better without Rush hour/D-Lift/Aphroo, Stixxay was and is a much better fit with CLG than D-Lift ever was. Were a complete joke in NA for years, finally won 1 split, removed Double and instantly became a decent International team, 2nd at MSI, beating the likes of RNG/SKT/G2 but again, losing to IWC teams, had a better record that same year at Worlds oppose to the previous year with Double.

Late For Tea1 votes

EU is actually a lot more self-critical than NA. We realize our teams are struggling, and we don't have overly high expectations of our teams. We realize how lucky FNC is to have made it out of groups, and we realize that they still have a lot of issues to work on. We aren't delusional, we believe it is very unlikely for FNC to make it out of quarters. We never expected G2 to make it out of groups, due to their opposition, and we never had high hopes for MSF before Worlds started. Meanwhile NA always seems to expect their teams to make it out of groups and do well in the knockout stage.

I really don't understand where all your salt and hatred towards EU is coming from. Yes there's a lot of banter between the two regions, but this is taking it a step further.

Also, you are making some horribly wrong assumptions regarding IMT, C9 and CLG. First of all, both Ray and Impact were underperforming. There was no experimentation going on, they simply had to be swapped out to get the best out of both. Furthermore, even if C9 would have won against DIG, they would still be up against TSM. There was no way for C9 to prevent IMT from going to the play-offs finals. Lastly, you are creating a scenario that is based on a lot of "ifs". I can just as well say that C9 should never have made it to Worlds, and they only did so because CLG had problems with their jungler.

Clearly your entire post is based on salt, and you have no clue what you're talking about.

Walmart Porn1 votes

Rightttt So not caring about either imt or clg = salt? I could care less about either team just like i could care less about your opinion because it is just that. An opinion. Eu has literally done nothing internationally over several years other than losing spectacularly and managing to get one team into quarters by the skin of their teeth and then losing immideatly and youre trying to act all humble. B.S. I never claimed na was good or that they where going to win because i know most likely its going to be skt again. Na is still better than eu at least even if it dosnt really mean anything. Whats the point of being the best of the worst. So why dont you take your opinion where someone actually cares.

That sounds a lot like NA to me. What have they accomplished internationally? And then you claim NA is better than EU. Both NA teams this worlds got eliminated by EU teams.

Walmart Porn1 votes

Yes there is no dwnyimg that tsm played like garbage but hindsight ia 20 20. Eu and na are pretty close though honestly it just depends who shows up when it matters. Tsm play to relatively and it came back to bite them. Thats all good and well if the enemy teams make mistakes you can exploit but at worlds you cant rely on other teams messing up you have to come in expecting have to make something happen. Hopefully c9 will get their 2 wins because they canbe proactive unlike tsm. True its mostly around mid and its a little telegraphed but the fact is they look to make advantages instead of rolling over to die. I swear tho if sneaky flashes the wrong way like cody and lift lift then theres just no helping it. Iexpected c9 to be na last hope again just not this soon. I will say that even if my regional pride wants na to beat eu if we dont make it out ill be cheering for fnatic along with you guys. Yes eu would be insufferable afterwards but id be happy with any western team winning

Edit: sorry about the typos im on my phone at work on my lunch hour lol

Yeah disappointed in IMT, choke central. NA is chronic about being terrible week 2, don't know if we get cocky, or we don't have the analyst to keep up when other teams but together strategies for week 2. We are really far behind on team infrastructure, we pay the players better, but do worse since we don't have the support they need to win.

AbiwonKenabi1 votes

They definitely have analysts though and they would be foolish not to properly strategize for week 2, seeing as that's what Korean teams are pretty strong at (and most everyone copies Korean teams since they're generally the best) and it's a chronic NA problem. Team infrastructure is becoming less and less of an excuse.

I won't count TSM or C9 out until I see them play their week 2, but Immortals definitely disappointing. It's like NA teams are too easy to figure out or something.

NA is chronic about being terrible week 2, don't know if we get cocky, or we don't have the analyst to keep up when other teams but together strategies for week 2.

It is not infrastructue or anything

Week 2 at Worlds is all about individual player talent and team synergy. In Week 1 there are always teams that haven't read well the meta or could have had some bad habit ingrained from their regional play that affect negatively their performance or some teams could show some cheese picks no one gets prepared for to get some win early in the group with upsets

Once Week 2 come, teams have had a week to study the meta, cheese comps that have been shown in week 1 (S5 C9 anyone?), and eventually adjust slightly their game in practice... In Week 2 you can't get away with cheese picks for more than 1 game because then people will keep getting them banned since they have no time to adjust, neither you can fix major weaknesses So basically everyone start on equal footing, teams find their flow, and in the end what matters is exactly that, sheer individual player talent and team synergy

NA has generally lacked on player individual talent side , and that's why they often performed bad in Week 2, only C9 has been able to make up for it with their team synergy in S4 when had a truly good performance (Alliance getting Kamub'ed obviously helped, but I think they could have made it through anyway in tiebreakers as NJWS was weak and Alliance inconsistent) - in S6 they were just slightly more consistent than their bad opponents overall -. Even S4 TSM performed bad in Week 2, they basically got their qualification thanks to 2nd best team in group SK going 0-3 in Week 1 with the Sven ban and not choking vs TPA when SK lost to World finalists RNG

Of course, psycology play a role, but team synergy can also help in teams overcoming some mebers having psycological trouble and carrying them to the finish line

III BAKURYU III 1 votes

Not 100% sure but in my opinion after the first week we don't actually

  1. Sit down and actually watch vods or study, instead we just play solo Q cause that's going to get us out of groups against real teams, play against 5 randoms with 4 randoms on your team in games that don't matter as much.
  2. Respect coaches, we NA players feel like we should be "given" everything to use instead of earning it, it really matches our Country all too well.
  3. Mindset, other regions don't care if a game is 40+ mins etc, but it feels like NA can't actually handle long games. Next time you play in a 40+min solo Q game, think how many times you see " This game should have been over with already" - Well, its not, get over it and play until the game is over. or, "this game is so troll" We are too fixed on stupid "memes" and useless s$it instead of the game and improving.

This is why C9 has a slight chance of winning! They are one of the better late-game NA teams.

Why IMT doesn't get a chance to play against GAM? and why GAM pases if he wins againts FNC fi they are tied? honestly asking. thanks

Ailiekpai2 votes

3-way tiebreaker, bye goes to the team with the shortest win time (GAM in this instance). I thought they would simply eliminate the team with the longest win time, but this is way more fair.

The NA tragedy.

Indeed, once again NA sucks in the second half of Groups.
Once again LCK advances.
Once again EU plays spoiler to NA.
Only NA can be up 3-0(C9 2015) and still can't make it out of groups, but EU FNC can be down 0-3 and be in a tie-breaker to make it out of groups; JESUS !

The only reason they made it out of groups last year (and will probably make it out of groups this year) is because the teams better than them are underperforming. C9 is nowhere near the level of the top teams at Worlds who would advance to semis.

I don't understand. Why is it only NA that keeps choking in world(except C9). Other regions also have new teams but they don't seem to have this issue.

IDK, I will say after Worlds I'm done watching League and the same ol' shit each and every split/year/worlds. Who's going to win NA(TSM), LPL(EDG), LCK(SKT), LMS(FW), EU(G2) or all will be apart of the Finals. MSI winner........SKT, Worlds winner.........SKT or some other Korean team. It's the same every time and now with NA franchising, I wonder if NA will do the opposite after some time, once people stop watching the same story unfold for 7 years now.
