Watching Worlds with SKT and Monte

Two games in, this guy has not said one positive thing about AHQ

WHY is he a shout caster? Really, I don't want there to be fake hype, IE acting as if AHQ has a huge chance. However, when the shout caster constantly says, there is nothing AHQ can do, there is no way this team can win..etc. You destroy any little chance, it's kills any sort of natural hype.

Sorry guys, I have to stop watching eSports with monte. I really don't mind when I listen to Monte in Korea, it's expected. But at worlds, it's another thing. Even when AHQ makes a good play, IE death sentence at max distance, he goes, "oh, that landed from a mile away".

Lol...so how many good plays did AHQ make in those games? 2? Also he complimented them on their mid rotation...you guys just hate on Monte because you think he hates on NA teams....remember when everyone trashed Monte for saying Cloud9's strategy was so one-dimensional after they went 3-0 in the first week? Well turned out he was right and they actually got exposed hard.

I mean I get why you don't like him as a shoutcaster maybe, he obviously is biased but he has a reason to be, right? SKT is totally dominating this tournament. You guys need to give him some credit, he has been right with his predictions for S3 and S4 World Champions.

AHQ dont stand a chance. They drew the short straw and had to face SKT, in that moment, they were already out of the tournament.

You are so salty that NA teams suck that you are trying to take it out on a shoutcaster? LMFAO! I would like to see NA teams succeed as well, but calm down kids.

Man, I feel bad for the OP here. He's completely right, and is getting downvoted in every comment he makes. Monte has just dehyped every play that AHQ makes - "Lucky Gnar's passive was up, or they were done for". "This game is as good as over". Like honestly, there are AHQ fans out there who don't want to hear their team get devalued by an announcer online. If Fnatic goes to the finals, I sure as hell don't want to listen to Monte talk about how "SKT just plays around their world-class mid lane, who's just so good at roaming. While Faker's helping Bang and Wolf out bot, that gives a free gank for SKT's jungler up top. Oh, and Fnatic needs better teamwork, minions haven't spawned, but it's been GG since champ select for this match." No. I want an honest analysis. If AHQ plays bad, okay, say it. But you don't have to praise the gods for blessing the world with SKT while kicking AHQ repeatedly while they're down.

If you had watched SKT go undefeated this season like Monte had, you would say the same.

Just mute it and practice shout casting yourself :)

Talk your way through the game, try and analyze things for yourself.

I personally agree and can't stand Monte since 2013. I want commentary, not Fanboyism.

ALL THAT SAID,

I think that Monte is great for Esports HYPE, discussion, and fan interaction. He is the "Skip Bayless" or "Lee Corso" of Esports. He is unabashed about his pics, ideas, and predictions. He brings out the best and worst in fans, moves the interaction meter, and is, in a word: polarizing.

TL;DR Monte is great for Esports, even if some of us don't like listening to him.

Monte: "AHQ is playing this game the way it needs to be played in order for them to win."

Don't act like Monte hasn't said 1 thing good and positive to teams other than SKT T1.

Maybe I would pay attention to him if he said anything good about anyone other than Korea. I can't wait for his fan-gasms in the KT vs KOO match.

Monte is a good analyst, somewhere where his biases can be more accepted. Though, he just can't keep them in during casting where nobody wants to hear about his secret crush on Faker.

Well, AHQ as it is makes a lot of mistakes and Westdoor unfortunatly is still underperforming. Still, if they´d be a little more deceisive they could turn those games - their botlane is doing well again and Ziv really is matched evenly with Marin, it´s just Bengi really again dominating the jungle and Westdoor not showing up anywhere.

But yea, the hypetrain can get tiresome.

Stillname10/17/2015, 4:22:36 PM1 votes

Take everything Monte says with a grain of salt. He doesn't actually play league of legends he literally just watches it. Which is why you never see him talking about champion mechanics or interactions aside from the popular pro played ones.

All he knows is team macro play which is why he talks so much about "rotations"

is he wrong though? u realize that nobody has any chance against skt right?

i feel bad for origen because they have to go against skt in the semi's and they are going to lose, its not even a question

Just Jangle10/17/2015, 5:15:44 AM1 votes

People just love hating on Monte.

ZergReap10/17/2015, 5:22:02 AM1 votes

Tras a Monte fan he is trolling way too hard this worlds. He almost seems salty and just wants to rub it in his region is dominating. In his defense, he was telling the truth there wasn't much AHQ could do to compete.

Scryer10/17/2015, 5:31:13 AM1 votes

Monte is a fucking asshole, I wish I could mute him while he shoutcasts.

Stella Ex Amore10/17/2015, 7:13:00 AM1 votes

Casters don't have to be politically incorrect, they can have favorites. Any and every sport features casters that not only say "they have no chance" for example, but statements such as "Wow. The Atlanta Falcons have absolutely no chance of victory in either the playoffs or Super Bowl, their offensive line is horrible". It may not be everyone's cup of tea to hear casters not be neutral when it comes to the teams that are playing, but it is a natural effect of competitive sports. No offense meant in any way to the views of OP or others. Cheers.

FluxBound10/16/2015, 9:35:12 PM1 votes

Didn't he do that with Cloud9 too?
