Establishing a College Team?

How would we go about establishing an eSports team for our college? We've got a number of students interested in doing it, but we're not all that sure about how we'd go about getting it formally acknowledged as a collegiate Extra curricular. None of us are all to amazing but we think it'd be a fun contribution to our college.
