Something I don't understand... (Worlds)

After the finals of SKT vs SSG, Faker was seen crying on stage after SKT lost the series 3-0. Completely understandable as we all know how seriously he takes the game and his desire to be a world champion. After seeing this, the whole community (myself included) is saying things along the lines of "Faker :(" "RIP Faker" or "Faker played so well, so sad to see him cry :(" Also understandable as this is the guy who has been the face of league for years, the undisputed best player of all time, showing his emotion after a crushing loss; the end of the SKT dynasty as the world champions.

Now, flash back to the Semi Finals, Rekkles on Fnatic did something very similar, and was seen crying in his chair after Fnatic lost to RNG. Also understandable - Rekkles, much like Faker, takes the game very seriously and expects to achieve great things, so anything short of the title is sure to be emotional and disappointing for him. However, this brings us to what I don't understand. After Rekkles was seen crying, the community's standpoint was along the lines of "What a baby, he needs to stop crying and get off the stage," "How unprofessional" or even "He's only doing this to strengthen his PR."

By no means am I trying to suggest anything along the lines of Rekkles being better than Faker, or demanding respect for Rekkles. I don't necessarily support either team. I'm just trying to state why I don't understand why the community's perspective on two similar scenarios was so drastically different for the different players, as Faker was given a lot of support for showing his emotion but Rekkles showing his emotion was frowned upon so harshly by the community.

A view of total success always determines the fans respect during those situations in my opinion. You have to also take in consideration how many of those people who called out Rekkles were NA fans trying to snub EU because once again EU proved that when it comes to the big games EU is much better in every way, so, in a way it was really salty NA fans calling out EU, nothing new.

No one really expected that Fnatic will do something at all. See we all thought that SKT will win. They are the best team in the world. Losing the LCS finals 3-0 was too much. Seeing the best player who was champion 3 times cring is something more that seeing anybody else cring. If for example Bang was the one who cried I wouldn't be as sad as when Faker did cry.

I think the key difference is that while Faker has had his moments of being perhaps a bit too cocky, he's never really outright disparaged anyone the way Rekkles has at times in the past. ("I won because I'm just that damn good" vs "I won because you all suck" basically).

So in the case of the latter there is a little bit of karmic schadenfreude in seeing him brought low, whereas with the former it's a case of seeing someone who maybe didn't deserve to be brought so low have it happen because that's just how the game goes sometimes.
