NA myths
myth: NA does bad because they don't adapt quickly enough to new meta... especially at worlds.
reality: NA does poorly because they get too caught up in copycatting a meta and forcing their players into said meta rather than equip their players with champs that fit the role(s) they are used to filling on their team. If your team works best with your toplaner on an engage champ... put them on an engage champ even if the meta is jayce and darius. If your midlaner is best on mages or assassins, don't put them on lulu. If you win via your jungle being a playmaker early, don't put them on some nunu support funnel comp strat champ... it is a disservice to them and their teammates. Like it's one thing to try it, but to keep forcing stuff like that if it doesn't work is another.
myth: if only we had no ping issues like Korea, then we'd be able to practice and be good
reality: First off, you had far worse ping playing solo queue before you went pro.... and you probably made challenger just fine back then. Stop lying to yourself. Secondly... tpa would play on Korean server or even play at 100PING in challenger on NA server back in season 2. ONE HUNDRED PING. Your 20 ping or whatever is puny compared to that. Get in the gravity chamber like Goku and USE that ping as extra weight... so that when you have no ping, you laugh at how quickly you can see stuff coming and dodge it. It's the glass half empty/full scenario... only none of you realize the glass is 100% full (50% air, 50% water). Training with ping higher than your opponents can be an ADVANTAGE if you make it one.
myth: more players means they guaranteed have better skill
reality: Sure there's some truth to this one. They get to encounter more varied ideas more often and practice with and against them. They have more players at high elo to challenge them. But does the country with the biggest population with the World Cup every time in soccer/football? Does China and India win every event in the Olympics because they have the highest population? No. And it's not just cuz "other countries steal the best people".
Stop making lame excuses. Learn from your mistakes. Focus on improving YOURSELVES. Why does c9 run the gauntlet, yet end up outperforming their better rated peers last few years at worlds? Because they don't make excuses. Because they put their players on champs that suit their roles on the team. Because they know the meta... but they play it in a way that fits THEM... not force their players to fit the meta even when it ruins the team synergy and forces their players into fulfilling team comp roles they aren't suited to. If weakest team from NA can make quarter finals while running the gauntlet just to make group stage, just imagine where others COULD make it if they took a lesson from c9.
