Would IG have beaten G2 today?

Let's assume the SFs disaster didn't happen for IG. Ning was amazing in the group stage, but a shadow in the SFs vs TL. And Baolan was 3 tiers below CoreJJ.

With their form in the group stage would they have been able to take down G2 today? With Jankos, Caps, MikyX on fire?

Considering IG couldn’t even beat Liquid in a B05, I’d say no. The two best teams in the tourney played today, one of them was simply more prepared.

What is the point of this speculation?

G2 would've dismantled IG the same way they dismantled TL....

Lets hope for G2's sake they can reform, and rebuild and bring the same fire for worlds, because we all have seen time and time again Korea/China look vulnerable during middle of the year, and then at worlds it seems they have completely polished their games.

Maybe, maybe not. MMA has a saying "styles make fights" and perhaps the different skills of IG could have beaten G2, but they didn't earn their way to the finals so we won't know.

I think they would. My guess is that IG completely disrespected TL and dismissed prepping for semi's in exchange for having a full week to prep against SKT/G2 which would give them a huge advantage in the finals. They expected to beat TL without specific preparation to have more chance at winning the finals. Now this backfired hugely and they were unable to adapt to the style of TL's gameplay (which was executed exceptionally well).

G2, however, have a longer history of fighting TL and know exactly what the team is like. TL has a very excplicit and predictable playstyle if you've faced them enough. This was shown in the finals where EVERY move of TL got predicted and answered to before it happened. Jankos in particularly was always one step ahead, but it's most likely a team effort.

IG are still the nemesis of G2 (and EU). Until proven otherwise, I have my doubt about a G2 victory over IG.
