Korea vs China with Korean victory Korea vs China with Korean victory Korea vs Korea with Korean Victory (I might have swapped seasons 4 and 5 around I don't remember) and now its gonna be Korea vs Korea with Korean victory. In those four finals we've seen four teams total, one of them having shown up three times, two twice, and one once.

Exhilarating Korea is killing this games e-sports scene with its tryhard attitude just like Starcraft 2 and it makes me so mad

If Korea was in fact killing the esports scene there wouldn't be corporations willing to throw the insane amounts of money they do at them to play so tryhard. You are FACTUALLY wrong.

And it's very lucrative and more people watch every year. So I have no idea why you would even post something as wrong as you did. I personally enjoy Korea vs Korea finals because they are usually the best players at worlds every year.

And yet more people tune into watch it every year because the silent majority enjoy high level play. The vocal minority (thats you) are the only ones really complaining about it.

You can complain just don't state clearly wrong facts.

Say "Man I'm really tired of the same teams winning all the time."

Don't say "The same teams winning every year is hurting esports."

Cause the second one isnt true and it makes you look bad.

I disagree with you on this one. The same teams from the same region winning every year regardless of effort put in DOES hurt esports for League. People stop caring if they know they're gonna lose from the start. There's a reason Riot introduced the Grandfather clause where you can't have more than x number of players outside your own region after the whole LMQ controversy.

Do you have any numbers to back this up? Not saying you're wrong it's just that every report I've read has said the viewership numbers have been down each year after Groups from Season 4 on. Still higher than a lot of other things because of the high starting point involved but notably down.

And honestly, while I think it's too early for esports to be worrying too hard about that kind of thing just yet, it IS a known phenomena in other sports that viewership numbers tend to drop spectacularly whenever one team becomes too dominant over several years.

For example, MLB saw some of their lowest World Series viewership numbers in the late 90s when the NY Yankees won three championships in a row, only dropping a single game in those three series combined to the NY Mets. When polled why they didn't watch a lot of baseball fans said they either didn't have a personal stake in the teams involved and just didn't care or that the Yankees were so overpowering that the games became a boring chore to watch because the outcome had already been decided before the games had even been played.

So, again, while I think it's too early in esport's life to be too worried about that effect, it IS something to at least keep an eye on should this trend continue.

I dont see any problem with Korea winning every worlds. They are best region, best players. They deserve to win.

There not killing anything that's like saying Brazil kills football for repeatedly winning.

If you want to win you have go best the best and Korea are the best why not just appreciate league of legends plays and mastery like other sports rather than winning?

Oh and it just means other nations need to get a lot better

I hate how people just complain that koreans are better at leagues.

You could get upset at the NA/EU esport competitive scene for not applying the same attitude as these guys do. Koreans are professionals.

Think about it; You're witnessing 2 teams backed by HUGE corporations. Samsung Galaxy and SK Telecom. This is like if Amazon or Comcast or some other major corporation backed an NA team. Until you see that happening... chances are Koreans will dominate just about every esport there is.

I wonder how many people complain that US basketball players dominate the basketball games at world tournaments. Nobody really should since no other country treats basketball the way US treats basketball.

Its the same with Korea and esports.

And WTAF is this "tryhard" jab about? these are PROFESSIONAL ESPORT TEAMS. They make their living off this game. The entire point is to be tryhard but maybe this kinda shows the mentality of NA/EU. They just want their region to win just cuz. In the end, its about how good you are. Period.

They win Ping Pong too. And as long as more people in the USA care more about their local high school friday night football game than world championships in esports or ping pong, it will continue to be like that.
