Doesn't really make sense with his new lore, gotta get rid of it.
Really don't like this new direction, regardless of presentation. A lore update shouldn't utterly eradicate the old character. You tried that the last time with Trundle/Udyr, and people are still mad.
Him grabbing holding his locket and looking up to the sky remembering better times was such beautiful touch of an idle animation.
Shame they gotta delete it.

There's been this awkward push to make everything link together in the new lore even at the expense of story. Them forcing the whole Darkin thing's been a gripe for a while, I've never really seen the reason why so many people want to know about the whole 5 Darkin thing when by doing that it just undermines the uniqueness of the first guy. Hell, new Varus is just a discount version of Kayn/Rhaast without the eye-rolling self awareness.
I agree with the removal of the locket but I don't mind the direction of this tbh. Coming from a guy who mains him.
Maybe the locket belongs to Varus the darkin. Its a reminder of his race. Turns out Darkin were more civilised creatures than we thought, and this one is no different than "old, human" Varus. He misses his darkin family from centuries ago and the necklace is a memory of them.
I am hoping so so much. I refuse to let go old Varus honestly, erasing a whole character is wrong, plain and simple.
