MSF Appreciation Thread

Well, didn't eliminate SKT, but this was an amazing series. This is not a defeat. This was their victory. They didn't need to win. They pushed SKT despite having such low chances of winning. They were fun to watch, and they deserve to walk out feeling proud.

I think this is the furthest SKT has ever been pushed in the knockout stage of any Worlds. Even in their finals against SSG last year, they had 2 dominant victories (and the wins from SSG weren't as clean as those of MSF). Considering MSF is new to the LCS, that is a massive feat. They can be incredibly proud of what they have accomplished, and I can't wait to see them back next year.

It's not just a 3-2, which no one really expected. It were 4 games where Misfits were really dominant. Yes, SKT came out as the better team due to their lategame comebacks, but honestly, the gap is really close and it was REALLY close from being a 3-1 OR 3-2 in favour of MSF. The only game where SKT shined was where Galio was for some reason not banned. That 80% winrate Galio was the only reason SKT could stomp that first game. Every pick from MSF got countered by a convenient R button.

Game 4, if that towerdive at the mid inhib went right or didn't happen, MSF would probably win. Game 5, if they were slightly less hesistant on a Baron call or got a better pick after they baited them in or if they won the 50/50 elder drake smite they would've probably won.

But the same goes for EDG's games vs SKT. At this point, SKT is either very lucky, or has some sort of in-built tryndamere ult on their base.

Either way, this is even WAY more impressive than G2 taking a single game from SKT (and getting stomped in the other 3) in the MSI finals. I feel like the walls around Korean Kingdom are starting to fall apart, but they're still there. They're still in control of their kingdom. It's a time where everything's possible now which makes this worlds way more exciting than 2015 and 2016.

When Misfits secured second seed in Europe, I was dissapointed because I didn't think they were a match for the other top teams. It would be like last year where Splyce was a non-factor. This feeling was confirmed when MSF got crushed in their first game vs WE who then got crushed by TSM. But then the miracles happened and they kept happening so much that they were no miracles anymore but facts. Even when they got out of group stage, I thought they were just lucky, stealing enough games because they were underestimated. But this wasn't an underdog performance against SKT. Although they dropped in the quarter finals, this was the best performance of an EU team so far.

Misfits definitely has my respect. They took the series to a game five and showed they can play League of Legends with the best. Without question, my favorite team from Europe this year! [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

Reply to bind yourself to this vow (as I did): I hereby swear that in the extremely unlikely case of MSF winning worlds I shall buy every MSF skin. May this sacrifice help MSF win

I feel like Crying, they really played well and deserved the win :(

As a main, seeing them pick leona and winning with a game with her against SKT was just magical.

Especially when you consider that this was their first year in even the EU LCS. I wouldn't be surprised if they do even better next year.

I'm just conflicted because I wanted Misfits to win so bad but SKT beat them using Tahm

I'm both happy and sad. Great series though. GG WP to SKT proving they're still champs.

Win or lose, this is unprecedented. A western team taking SKT to game 5? I don't think anyone expected that. This is already amazing. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping they can pull back and find their groove again in this last game. I'd love to see that upset. It isn't about disliking SKT. It is about liking Misfits more. : D They deserve any praise they get from this.

Made me a fan honestly the bans and picks, the style of play was a thriller all the way through!

Fucking hell of a series. Was not expecting that out of them. They had some brilliant drafts and it nearly led them into the semi.

I believe they earned more fans by losing it than if they won for some reason this team made it from challenger series to worlds , and manage to get a huge upset in their group were most ppl expected them to go 0-6 , and then put SKT to match point and the 2 last games were insanely close and intense , mostly that blank drake steal on the 5th game , they did few mistakes but today SKT did mistakes too and they were beatable , maybe next year even if MSF becomes better , if SKT performs also incredibly well and at their top level then maybe even if MSF play better than today they'd lose to them , but today it was a matter of inches , thats why it is a bit heartbreaking if they got 3-0'd id just look forward for next year so they can go 3-2 , but they had a great shot this year , in the current meta but they break this meta to put ignar on his signature champs and still get an ardent in their comp , they played so well i want to see more series from them , having to wait one entire year for next worlds while not beeing sure they'll adapt to the next year meta well or anything kinda sucks tbh .

I just want to say that going this far trying to beat SKT is already its own accomplishment. By a western team.

This is something we don't see every year, and that is enough to deserve attention and recognition, even if they didn't make it.

I know, generic comment, but I like seeing "non meta" stuff work. Even the crowd loves "off meta" stuff.

So sad they didnt win. SKT really figured out how to get an even game going through the drafts in the second half.

i folow msf since challenger series and even before for Hans Sama since i know him from domingo ( a french streamer ) as he was only 16, was really happy to see them at worlds and actually put them 2d of the group , cuz they got underestimated even in EU before smashing both UOL and FNC in EU LCS summer play offs and qualifying to worlds , so i didnt underestimated them this time and put them above TSM ( might have been some EU fanboying too tbh ) but they performed better than expected they mixed their own playing style with the meta , they adapted so well , i didnt expect them to get 2 games of SKT but this makes me somehow even more sad since they actually had a shot to win today and this would put them in a decent position for at least making finals , for such a young team its huge , they have lot of potential but waiting another year for seeing them playing at worlds is far too long , just hope they wont be fuked up about some strange meta and not perform next year . When i saw the tears of the players man that was horrible , but understandable both game 4 and 5 were actually winnable was really close today , wp to MSF ( and i hope SKT will play slightly better otherwise they wont win worlds this year and i dont want msf to be kocked out for nothing ) .

To think they were in challenger series a year ago, everyone can be proud of MSF. They have come so incredibly far in so little time. Even if they lose this series, they are an incredible team. They bring their own meta to the game, which makes LoL a joy to watch.

But honestly, they were far better than expected.

Omg they were so close to winning game 4. Almost history in the making taking out skt.

They showed how terrible SKT is. Multiple time world champion barely survive. They won by a centimeter, and only through luck.

They will be eliminated with prejudiced in the next round, they will be bitch slapped.

Really sorry to see Misfits lose.

Upset happens often but this one is in a whole new level... In the past 3 years at worlds, the Koreans only been kick out of the tournament by another Korean team. This is the best upset in LoL history if they win this.

Not only does misfits deserve a ton of praise, it gives me hope that someone else will be able to take SKT down. I don’t know if I can stand another year where SKT wins.
