I think they're playing together pretty nicely then again I'm pretty sure they had some practice together before IEM though.

Game 1 UoL played better, but CLG won because they actually had damage... damn god, huhi isn't that good, but Fox was awful and really hyper passive doing 0 dmg in fights...even Steelback in comparison looked like a guy willing to go in to do damage, and Steelback is passive as hell UoL coaching staff needs to fix Fox mentality as soon as they can, or otherwise kick him out of the team because he would be eaten alive in EU mid scene again

same can be said for CLG Huhi though somehow...really don´t understand why they benched pobelter for him. It´s again one of those cases where NA teams for no reason bench their NA-talents that actually did prove themselves for a random Korean guy that doesn´t do anything for them.

Nah, Huhi problem isn't mentality, it is imho that he isn't just that good. Huhi is willing to make plays and at times can even succeeed (rare cases, but still...) Fox problem is entirely a mentality problem, because he ain't actually that bad mechanically/in lane, but then he just did nothing at all past that

CLG wanted to pull out a Faker/Easyhoon with Huhi/Pobelter, it is just that Pobelter didn't want to be a situational reserve when he knows he is actually the 2nd best NA resident mid, together with Keane (and that's only because Bjergsen and Keane actually count as resident, he is the best NA "born and raised" mid by far) and so he can actually start for another team and being paid a lot because of his residency status

Huhi it is the same as H0R0 was in Europe, these guys just seem stars in soloQ but doesn't seem to pass the cut on LCS level where the level of opposition go up

seems i have a lot less confidence in Fox´s mechanical abilities...he´s a solid laner, but in teamfight it´s not only mentality that holds him back i think.

I think it´s somewhat similar to nukeduck for Huhi...i mean Nukeduck had been toping european SoloQ for a long time, but in professional play he always struck me as not good enough still. I think most teams just lack proper scouting - i mean Fnatic last season showed up with a mostly unknown in Huni and a jungler that had been seen as "gameover" in Korea in Reignover and they only needed 1 split to shape them into world-class players for their positions.

I don't have much faith in Fox skills either, because I don't think is level even at his potential is enough to be more than mid tier in Eu and then it is not worthy to spend time waiting on him to develop, but, you know, maybe they saw something as well as an SK team that after last S4 trip to Worlds was aiming to get top spot in EU (when they also added Forg1ven in S5 Spring), so whatever

Nukeduck isn't similar at Huhi at all, he has actually being really good in S3 when he wento to Worlds with Lemondogs and and has returned to be good in Roccat after Yamato take the coaching duty on, the fact was more that his career took various road bumps with the Loemondogs-NiP situation and with the ban for toxic behaviours, but when the circumstances have been positive he has actually performed

Most teams relies too much on potential peak performance and on how good a player is in "abstract" without accounting how he is capable to play in a team, fill certain roles and styles, and how actually performs on stage, Fnatic is better than the average orgs because they know what skills they are searching for in their players

They beat literally the worst LCS roster in years. Challenger teams are significantly stronger than this UoL lineup. Monte practically died laughing when they were discussing it with Thorin, for good reason. It'd be surprising if CLG made NA playoffs and didn't get stomped in the first round based on what they've shown.

they only have 1 carry on the team now, once they shut down Zion, CLG had no chance at all. Huhi seems pretty underwhelming IMO.

Lets not jump to conclusions based on IEM tournaments, CLG looks good right now but remember TSM at IEM then TSM at MSI. Lets see what they look like against some quality opponents. Though I am happy loosing DLift hasn't tanked the team the way some thought ti might.

I'm not jumping to conclusions. I'm just judging their quality of teamwork during those two games. Since they replaced their roster I would expect some bad communication but CLG did fine.

Well Huhi is the only non NA player and he's been with the team for a while so I don't think communication is going to be an issue. I'm just saying I don't know if this is the game, or hell even a tournament, you want to try to gauge the strength of a team on. Competition is poor and half the teams are experimenting with roster changes. We won't know how good these guys are as a team until at least 6 weeks of the LCS.

well, UoL without PowerofEvil is just really not a strong team atm - hope they find an upgrade to Fox soon.

CLG seems to have some good synergy though considering they changed two positions, maybe they´ll hold a top 3 position in NA next split.

UOL is just a big joke since summer split, they put aside their exotic pick style (the one who bring them to lcs) and go meta It seems that it just doesn't work for them

I actually feel bad for CLG, they had to win a BO3 to get to the finals then play a BO5. That's not fair to them. Trying to pack everything into two days is not healthy for the competition.

on the other hand...all teams had troubles practicing, so having more games on the stage might have been an advantage.

wouldn´t mind for IEM to go back to double-elimination tournaments over 3-5days though.

I think IEM was just a disappointment this year. I mean it almost always is but I just feel like IEM was just boring to watch. I normally watch all of the LCS NA and EU and that's a lot of games. But holy hell was IEM not entertaining at all. I think IEM is a good way for teams to get their new players out and playing without that much pressure. It was good that CLG made it as far as they did. I just think playing a BO3 then turning around and playing a BO5 right away is really hard on the players.

well, i guess the major problems for IEM atm is that they somehow often end up mixing a few high-class teams with very mediocre ones, so the competition is pretty much flawed from the get go (though if fnatic hadn´t been "ill" the Fnatic vs OG final would have been very interessting this time)...

i think the official statement mentioned some health issues - though surly it most certainly had been to cover up internal issues. Still sad though, would have been the 3rd place match that hadn´t been played at worlds.
