Why is a full Asian team competing in NA?

I would understand it if they were all born and raised in NA like Peter, but most of them aren't. The coach doesn't even speak English WTF?!?!

What's offensive in this post? AFAIK "Asians" isn't an offensive word. You can't deny that they are all Ethnically Asian. And I don't have a problem with that if they'd actually be from NA (some of them are), but when they just get imported to win regional tournaments on lower competitions, it completely destroys the value of having these regions. Extrapolate this method to all regions and worlds would just be the top 16 teams, not linked to any region. When they represent a region only in name and not in heart, it becomes less exciting to support for them. It's obvious that Impact, Olleh and the coach are just there because the competition is easier than in South Korea.

Clearly you're directing that to Liquid when you say "full Asian team."

Nationality/ethnicity and residency are two differing factors when applying it here. You can't just make outliers out of some of them. It'd be some bs if ethnicity were the baseline because then there'd be a problem. What'd you do: call them all imports?

Even still, where was this a problem when Olleh was playing in Taiwan and Brazil?

Given that there is a limit on import slots, some have to be NA residents. However, being an NA resident does not mean you speak English.

Also... a lot of coaches don't speak English. C9, who have mostly homegrown talent, has Reapered for a coach - and while his English is getting better, he's still a long way from fluent.

That's the problem. They allow for 40% of your team to be not from your region. That's massive. IMO 100% should be from your region.

they have 2 imports, which is the allowed amount..

and what about players who come over from other countries, because they've always wanted to be on NA teams, or it's one of few ways they'll ever get the opportunity to live here in the states, and maybe living here has been their dream, and this is just a way to make it happen? they are legal immigrants, which makes them citizens. they live in this country, have the right to vote, have the right to get married here, all of it. and they have every right to be on a sports team, of a country they live in.

Import happens all the time, in sports and games and most other competitions.

The only time when this would not happen is when nationality is a big deal, such as Olympics or whatnot, where the nature of certain events may outright ban player imports. Otherwise importing is kind of everywhere, as if it's not a big deal then it's fair game assuming it's under the max allowance.

Not sure why you have to pick specifically on this case.

You're just jealous we stole the best European players and they couldn't win.
Two of Liquid's players are born Americans. One moved here before making it big in LOL. The other two are from Korea.

Because the US is not as racists as ignorant Europeans believe. We have citizens are every ethnicity... it's one of the things that makes us the greatest nation in the world.
