The value of being a team
So I've seen a few threads/Reddit posts about the value of infrastructure in esports given the success of KR teams. However, there is something I think has been over looked about the most successful teams that NA needs to consider given how much rebuilding there is to do. Every single team in the quarterfinals right now were built as a team.
Think about that, some play off star tops, some off star mids, there are they have varied focuses for the team and different coaching styles (at least I think coaching in EU teams is less authoritarian than KR teams). The one thing they have in common is being built as a team.
Yellowstar crafted a new team that focused on synergy (passive bot with self sufficient star mid and good jungle top synergy) and they seem to get along as people too. OG was built and hand picked by peke to not just be strong but work well and have fun. SKT built their teams around Marin and Faker originally and when they combined they sort of chose the same way with one of the best supportive jungles to ever play, and Marin being a high skill top who struggled with the pressure to carry and has stepped up huge now that he has more freedom to not have to be the star player. Koo of course is the best example, players who were good but not great and got cut from other teams but together have been top 3 in the toughest region.
When rebuilding teams need to focus on cohesion through play styles that complement each other and on personalities that get along bc the team lives together. That's just my opinion though and I may be completely wrong, but the success of players who want to play together seems to be real.
