Why does taiwan have its own league?

that's really dumb. why cant they just combine them with china or the rest of asia?

They won season 2 not like that matters much at this point. As I really only consider them as a major-minor league. That being said they can still put out some pretty dam good teams.

I don't mind korea having their own league because they are like the godfathers of esports but having some dinky ass island have their own league and take up a slot at worlds is ridiculous. this is like giving Canada or Germany their own league.

Taiwan was a part of SEA and OCE before those regions developed themselves. They broke off and formed their own, they were in the competitive scene before a lot of other regions (Korea didn't take LoL seriously until Season 2 worlds. And China didn't either.)

Also... China/Taiwain are at political war with each other... the laws of conduct for both are "supposedly different" depending on which side you talk to.

Therefore keeping things separate is a must. Chinese also like to censor everything too (mainland China). Just ask the "Undead" race in Warcraft that don't exist in the Chinese version because of the "crimes against ancestors" that the concept poses.
