Why is Dyrus always getting beat up

While watching TSM play lately Dyrus is always getting ganked, and always in a position in a TF where he is isolated and eliminated.

thats the TSM receipe. Its been like this for a decade. they have a very very traditional comp, which everyone already figured out, which still works but easier to counter. Their comp revolves around a mid carry, with their somewhat alright ADC, and a tanky TOP if farmed well to CC and absorb damage and stall enough for the others to clean up the enemy. To break the pillars, all you gotta do is mess up dyrus's farm, gank and kill him, make him scared and behind, after the first turrent is taken, its basically over for Dyrus. Hes a solid top laner though. He just needs better instructions from Locodoco to work around the comps to get over the weakness. When dyrus played champs like maokai, or sion, that had a good escape, tanky enough to take the damge while escaping, they were doing so so so good. But take away those champs, then Dyrus is just in a bad position. Everyone in LCS that plays dryus knows this story, sometimes they might work around it by warding more often or having jungler show more presence, but in all, it comes down to what champs Dyrus gets.

What? Everyone agrees Dyrus is one of the most consistent top laners in League of Legends. Even Montechristo who hates TSM and NA with a passion agrees that Dyrus is insanely consistent and never feeds or does bad. Hes also one of the few top laners who knows how to play from behind. Dyrus is called a rock for a reason. He will always do well and he will never tilt or do horrible. Rarely does he ever have a really BAD game.

I can see your point there. I like TSM a lot and they're an awesome team but this "rarely" you mentioned in the end is becoming more and more often. I think TSM with ZionSpartan or Quas would be a big threat in worlds for KR teams (I mean that Dyrus is inferior to a few top laners). But that is just my opinion and I respct yours...

Nooo not at all. Zionspartan cant initiate team fights at all and Quas is far too unreliable or consistent. Also neither of them have anywhere near the same knowledge and veteranship that Dyrus has. Hes been playing since the beta was out and has been in the pro scene on TSM for multiple seasons. He also is one of the few players with that talent of being able to play from behind.

He may not be the most dominating Top laner in the world sure but he does offer what a lot of other Top Laners dont. Consistency. Just because he has a bad game doesnt mean hes garbage. Even all the analysts including Montechristo who again hates TSM with a passion agrees Dyrus is an exceptionally good top laner and is one of the reasons TSM is able to do so good.

Zion can't initiate for his life, which is one of the reasons why CLG is horrible at teamfighting, if Aphro isn't on a play making support like Thresh no one can initiate and CLG loses. Quas I have no idea about.

Why do you guys think Zion can't initiate ? I mean he had some good Gnar ults vs CLG. If he practises to start a fight using them he can become best top NA. But let's be honest, Dyrus is giving kills in lane all time, unlike others. Btw you said no idea about Quas. Quas is a beast and just better than Dyrus in everything, just check him out. He is the guy to contribute in his team's victory more than anyone and not carried like Dyrus who is mostly all about assists and no real playmaking.

You cant compare top lanes like that. The game is not about who is doing good and having the kills and then carrying the rest of the game into a Victory. It would certainly HELP if you were doing well and winning lane, but down to the core you are neglecting everything else. Your TEAM. We just tried to explain to you what Top lane is all about. That play I described to you, just now against CLG, Dyrus was all over the entire team, got the entire team to focus him and blowing all the CD's on CLG. THATs called making plays. Also that game when zion thought he was smart and Teleported to the back through a ward and tried to flank Corki wildturtle didnt work, because hes a poor team player. Zion plays are very selfish, because he like to shine. That is not what LOL is all about.

You are right but Dyrus is underperforming. It used to be like what you said but don't forget how things have actually changed. Zion is underperforming as well but nevermind, even as a TSM fan I have to say that Dyrus isn't doing well last 2 weeks... just that.

You literally have no idea how to analyze games at all, it just looks like you look at KDA and if they have a bad one they're under performing.

Yep, all you care about is KDA. If Dyrus is getting camped 24/7 and TSM isn't doing anything about it, that is a TEAM problem, not individual. Also just letting you Dyrus plays very well from behind, he can go 0/4 in lane and still be a big factor. I'm ashamed to be any team's fan because of idiots like you who care only about KDA and don't bother watching the games on HOW that player died.

Top laners don't necessarily have to net kills to be useful or be a top tier laner. Their job is to CC, and jump on the carries and absorb damage, so your carries can take them out.

Its not necessary to win lane. Just farm farm farm, get tanky and absorb damage. Dying isnt a problem if you can stay "useful" in fights. ONLY reason he ever feeds or dies more than 2-3 times is being camped by 2-3 other enemies, which shows the respect the other teams have for Dyrus.

I remember a few games back when they were on a winning streak, there was a game where it was CLG vs TSM. Dyrus just stormed in 1v5 to absorb all the damage. At the time everyone thought he was dumb and out of position and was about to die, BUT Dyrus actually had all the skills on CLG on cooldown, he ulted away, then came back again with almost no health to CC CLG and finally, the rest of TSM cleans up the fight for an ace. That entire game he was not ahead, or anything, but he was well farmed and being useful. Thats why you see most top laners go for tanky items. They are the tanks of each team comp. But of course naturally, with changes now to the meta, there are dual AP comps, and with tops like Lissandra. However, its not without its merits as well. But thats another subject.

Dyrus is not the BEST top laner, but hes definitely a top tier laner.

Thanks for these responds guys, I was kinda mad when I wrote the comment forgetting that Dyrus is a consistent player with solid performances and a lot of experience. I just think ZionSpartan and Quas are better. Nevertheless, don't you think such a good NA team deserve something slightly better than Dyrus though ?

imo Dyrus has been getting camped really hard, even though in the last game he got camped, his Irelia was still super scary and them camping him allows for the rest of TSM to win and Dyrus still doesn't do bad late game. he's a very good top laner and very consistent, which is more than i can say for Quas. ZionSpartan is a beast but i still wouldn't take him over Dyrus.

Dyrus is a good top, but he gets picked on and i wanted to see Irellia beat up ppl, not get bursted by 4 ppl. Santorin never dies tho and he is a jungler...

Dyrus is the best Top Laner (FOR TSM). Add someone like Quas or Zion and then you have a top laner who is focused on making a pick or grabbing a kill instead of protecting the team and TSM already has Bjergsen for that and he does it the best in NA.

Dyrus plays viable tanky top laners and that is what allows him to consistently play well from a stalemate or from behind, because he is a wall between the two teams while letting Bjerg and Santorin worry about making a play. Also when you say someone is "feeding or undeperforming" you have to know which role you are referring too. Going 0/4 as a Ahri mid would be underperforming for Bjergsen, but going 0/4 as a Sion top is not always underperforming, Dyrus has less escapes as a top laner and no matter how many times he dies will always be a tanky wall late game, he doesn't need to net kills because he doesn't need to build damage.

Also top lane is the easiest to pick on naturally with the less mobile champs, no duo partner, only 1 direction to retreat in and at the LCS level if the opposing teams sends 2 players to pick on your lane, you will either die or be set back for a bit. And if they send 3 well at the LCS level a 3 man gank means you stall them out while they have no way of making plays mid or bot and then you die and that is the only option. Dyrus doesn't typically get set back in 1v1, maybe he will lose a fight and get a death but 1 death happens in 1v1 and its not feeding. Typically Dyrus is ganked by 3 players and naturally at that level he will die because 3 LCS players is more than enough to secure a kill on a slow target.

The reason Dyrus is good because he stalls, walls, delays and just in general he takes one for the team which is why Bjergsen and WildTurtle are able to clean up. TSM a team that has always been at the top of NA (#1 or #2 generally) that alone is proof that as annoying as they are as a team, they are just good at what they do. TSM would fail if they had a top laner who was trying to be a Bjergsen and separate from the team to make solo plays like Zion. Or a Top lane like Quas who is super inconsistent and does well for 2-3 games and then is a nobody for 5-6 games.

The only thing TSM needs to improve is their team comps. They have worked their way to the top of NA this season using the same comfort comp over and over, and now its losing its edge.

Top Lane: Sion/Lissandra Jungle: Rek'sai/Jarvan Mid Lane: Ahri/Lissandra ADC: Sivir/Jinx Support: Janna

That's a huge portion of what they have been picking no matter the situation when it should look more like this...

Top Lane: Sion/Lissandra/Maokai/Gnar/Irelia Jungle: Rek'sai/Jarvan/Vi/Lee (The Big 4) Mid Lane: Ahri/Zed/Xerath/Leblanc ADC: Tristana/Sivir/Jinx/Kalista Support: Braum/Thresh/Morgana/Nami

All typical top tier viable champs but atleast more variety.
