I was... loosely (very loosely) considering altering my stance on going pro as a League player, now that Japan is starting to pick up the game a little. I just wondered if it was worth the investment of time. Does anyone know the rough figures for a League pro's earnings, yearly? From the game alone, this is.

This would be more up my alley. Currently in Houkou to Iou I can earn between ¥2,000,000 and ¥10,000,000 for tournament-level play, but it's entirely rooted in performance. If you don't place, you get nothing. Having that kind of money as a guaranteed salary would be insane. Though did that go to the whole team, or did each player bring in that much?

GeminiRune1 votesNot just the salaries but also the amount of undying dedication to continue to prove yourself as a competitor alongside your fellow team. More than just playing and winning falls into that factor. It's a tough world even at the moment but not impossible.

Fair enough, and I do see a lot of that from the League pro scene. But to be fair, I get plenty of that now and I make nearly ten times more for it. (Granted, earnings in my game are dictated entirely by performance, whereas a League player has a stable salary to fall back on if they don't do so well.)

Virgin Ray1 votesWith the franchising next year pros will be earning 70k a year disregarding tournament money. While that may not be that impressive, keep in mind the get food, shelter, insurance, psychologists, internet, high end gaming gear, all for free.
