What is Piglet's problem?

I mean im not at all trying to hate on piglet but he's playing terrible. Probably worse than he did in 015. Im singling out piglet because of all the hype that was (and still is to some degree) put on him from being a previous world champion and its just not deserved. Part of it seems to be poor team synergy but the other large portion is piglet himself. I'd expect him to have his kinks worked out this far along but they seem to be getting worse.

I mean i really wanna discuss this with those interested.

He'd be top tier with top tier team he's performing fine his team is pretty low tier, but comeon prob could say same about you being stuck in silver I've watched na lcs and he seems like he performs fine even slight lead on his lane usually even though having the worse team.

It's not necessarily just Piglet more than it is the entire roster tuning off at select periods. Lourlo has had a recognizable start but hasn't lived up to it since. Reignover is constantly looking one dimensional which is becoming hit or miss depending on the momentum of the rest of the team. Golden is remaining below that "solid" line which only gets him but so far for the same momentum reasoning as Reignover. Matt is remaining almost as consistent as Hachani has been; only his case it's being a body blocker while being a playmaker with what he can't necessarily pull plays on when the team is behind; once again, momentum.

And Piglet, since this is what you have posted your thread about...he's just failing to show mechanical proficiency on utility or poke based champions as of recent record. Period. His better performances as of late have come from using champions that are aggressive carries: Twitch, Vayne, Lucian. Of a meta where it's particularly Ashe, Varus, Jhin...he's probably only had one outstanding game: as Jhin in which I believe was vs GIA at IEM Gyeonggi.

Just my pitch on the team. TL as a whole is having a harder hit on adapting to the meta like CLG had done in the starting weeks, which is pretty funny as CLG is their only victory right now and they looked like that had an identity then.

These aren't excuses or downing Piglet but just a number of things to think about.

  1. I believe he missed the first week of LCS because of visa issues... I think? So Keith stepped in and took his place at the start. Piglet comes onto the team in a foreign country and does poorly as expected because of the new environment, players, synergy, communication etc. So he gets benched because the hype was there but he wasn't STRIKE ONE!

  2. Keith steps in and takes his place TL does decent winning games against TSM/CLG and Winterfox I think but the point is they won games add the fact that Piglet also got benched because of being toxic. STRIKE TWO!

Team Liquid - Ironman ?

  • At the same time back in 2015 spring split team Liquid had around 777 total mins in 19 games where they barely reached the playoffs. They had Dom who at that point already had a year under his belt, same with Quas who played with Dom back in 2014 spring and Summer as well as Xpecial where during that time TL had around 41 mins per game while playing with Cop who has a history of playing super passive same with Quas.
So fast forward a year later where those 3 players played with one of the most passive adc players to known history now add in Piglet whos know to be an aggressive adc but with no communication or synergy and being told to carry a team with 3 players that had a full year with synergy but yet still didn't know what to do mid game and are pretty passive and not know how to end games hint the average 40 mins per game Spring 2014, 41 mins per game summer and soon to be 40 min average 2015 Spring.

After a decent Spring 2015 run eliminating CLG 3-0 sweep and facing C9 in a competitive 5 game series in which previously they would just get swept by C9 like in the past playoffs twice. The potential was there for TL and Piglet. A split later they had the best NA record the best TL ever done since 2013 Spring but again fell short to TSM in another competitive series with multiple 50 min games.
A few weeks later Quas leaves the team, Dom leaves the team and Xpecial leaves the team, leaving Piglet alone to now only having to build communication with his new teammates, starting back at 0. As well as adding the fact that after TL had one of their best splits ever 3 team members mainly Dom retiring after only a 1 and a half career most likely sat wrong with Piglet.
To Piglet it was like " So my teammates left me after a good split, but the hardwork didn't payoff" so why should Piglet work hard for it to not payoff in the long run if his teammates that he built time and effort to only leave after their best split ever? STIRKE THREE!

2016 Rolls around and TL has new members Lourlo, Dardoch and Matt.
3 young rookies!!!!!!!! on a team with 2 Korean speaking members Fenix and Piglet; What could go wrong? Toxic players, bad synergy, back stabbing, bad coaching, he said - she said style arguments etc.
However they managed to make it to playoffs eliminating a bad NRG team easily 3-0. To only face CLG who won that Split in a competitive 5 game series yet again in which after that double TP(Darshan and Huhi) on Piglet and to eventually lose the series, that was the final strike. STRIKE FOUR!

Honestly after that series and all that Piglet had went through since joining TL/NA how could he not go downhill and just not care. New country, no communication, constant 40 min games, 1 game away from making it to 2 NA finals, players leaving, synergy, constantly being eliminated by Cloud 9 twice before Piglet joined back in 2013/14 as well as once since Piglet joined in the playoffs and Worlds Qualifications as well as their challenger team when he got booted off the team and joined the Challenger scene.
laning with Matt who has a Dyrus feel to him but without the skill, Lourlo who in teamfights doesn't tank anything to keep Piglet/Fenix/ the carries alive, a raging Dardoch, a mediocre and most times childish coach Loco and it just goes on and on.

Like I said " These aren't excuses or downing Piglet but just a number of things to think about".

  • Great topic and thank you , Have a good One!

I personally think he's getting tired of pro play. Seeing him in Breaking Point, he seemed pretty done with the whole thing in general. Obviously some of that is because of the whole debacle with Dardoch and Loco, but I think part of him just wants to at least go back to Korea to be closer with his friends if not retire and go into become a Korean caster/analyst.

Piglet probably has the "victim" mentality and this drives him to feel as though his team mates are not going to "help" him in game. He wants to be the star, but he isn't. His mechanics have been meh of late and his lack of communication with the team and inability to read the game properly leads to his and liquid's poor play. Dardoch was their MVP last year. And I think we can safely assume that Huni, not Gameover, was the Immortals MVP. Deebee Steevee must have chewed out some players after the NV loss. I bet he told golden that if he doesn't win the next series, he's out for the rest of the season.

The problem is not that Piglet is playing bad, is that he and Reignover have not been worthy of the gamble of putting Goldenglue in mid lane If I'm willingly going to have a below average midlaner, is because I'm having benefits on other roles by imports, which is not happening

In addition to that, whoever is doing the drafts for Liquid is doing a terrible job, Lourlo has been the guy who was carrying the most and the put him on a supportive tank vs carries and they are putting Matton offensive oriented supports rather than on playmaking supports

For me, the 2 "big problems" of TL right now are the meta (which is focusing on less carry-reliant ADC's making piglet's ungodly skillset kinda unnoticed) and the sheer lack of talent they have compared to other teams (Lourlo being the "cool name" equivalent of RF Legendary right now, reignover having his first not-elite split ever, matt being the NA version of hachani, and goldenglue sorta being like 2016 froggen in that he'll die very little up until like 25mins in then wonder where all of the outer towers went). Combined, it's kinda put the team in a weird spot as they absolutely need Piglet to carry (again, his overall skillset is probably 2nd-best in NA right now) but can't as the ADC meta makes it impossible barring him going ham on lethality-build lucian.

xJLx MCHammer2/4/2017, 7:30:46 PM1 votes

I don't think he has learned English like Sep from Envy I also think it's not his meta. He likes to play champions like Vayne, not Varus/Ashe.

R7 Factor2/6/2017, 6:26:54 AM1 votes

Cuz the meta doesn't fit piglet's playstyle, when lucian and vayne pop back into the meta, adc's like piglet and wildturtle will start to play better

After watching Piglet this week. I'm convinced he got worse

Huge fun of SKT since S3. I have to say Piglet is simply bad but has a LOT of ego, that's it. I admit he was good, but only in s3. You got the reason.
