History has truly been made. I was on the edge of my seat, my heart was pounding, i was squealing, gasping, and i truly didn't know what was going to happen. The other team actually fought back and took the game down to the wire. THAT is what the worlds finals should be.

The MLB and the NFL have 2 "leagues" (American and National league in baseball, and the AFC and the NFC in football). Each league is divided into various divisions loosely based on geography. Each division sends a single team to the playoffs, and there is a wildcard team from each league that is chosen from the team with the best record of those that remain. Each league then plays their playoffs amongst themselves, and when each league is down to 1 team remaining, those two teams play in a championship game/series. NEVER can two teams from the same league play in the finals, let alone two teams from the same division, and by allowing a Korea vs Korea finals, that is EXACTLY what Riot is doing, and it fucking sucks for literally the rest of the world.

i'll include all the Olympic events here in both World formats and Olympic format;
so swimming, cycling, running, etc etc.
for instance you hold a ''world series'' which is a very misleading name as there is no ''world'' involved in the series, thats like having the ''world cup'' compromised of only European teams, which is why again there is a separate competition comprised of only European teams.
the cricket while not embraced world over still includes more variety than the majority of sports in america.
i will use the football world cup as the best example as simply put it is the best example.
the teams went through a period of having 1-2 teams winning everything and this happens in all sports, you can go back to the Michael Jordan days to see this too in full swing, its just the way ''world'' events seem to work one region will have a better structure until another region shakes something up and hits a weak point and exploits it, or simply catches up.
going into a non-world event and back to football; the preimiership. now it had been Manchester Utd or chelsea for multiple years until other teams ''dynamics'' and various players matured came to fruition and are gelled properly, or have had their infrastructure and coaching styles catch up to the top teams alternatey AND in conjunction star players have retired and so have managers, for the past 3 years the tittle has been wide open, much like the world cup it is very tough now to predict a winner as teams are a lot closer.

above all of this most of the world is used to seeing other nations win a lot more than others in certain sports, america for the most part has most big events just including american teams, the other ''big'' international events are not really big at all for people outside the americas.

Correct, but did Brazil play another Brazilian team in the finals? Of course not, BECAUSE ONLY ONE TEAM PER COUNTRY IS ALLOWED TO COMPETE IN THE INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT. That is the point I'm trying to make here. If Asia wins the LCS every year, well I guess that just sucks for America and Europe. But when the final match consists of one Asian team against another Asian team, that's just shitty management of the brackets. And it would be one thing if this year was the first time that this has happened, but it's been this way virtually EVERY year, and that is just dumb. You don't generate international interest in a "sport" when you allow one region/country to completely dominate it. Just look at baseball/softball. Both of these used to be Olympic sports, but were removed because of the general lack of interest, in that only a handful of countries from the general North American region could compete. In fact, I believe that the US holds every gold medal in Olympic Softball history (Japan might have 1), while baseball gold medals are shared by the US and Cuba. Meanwhile, sports like gymnastics limit the number of competitors from a single country so that more countries can participate in the event, thus generating more global interest in the sport.
And before you yet again focus on the semantics of my argument and say something along the lines of "Asia isn't a country" let me point out that the tournament structure for the LCS considers region (NA, Europe, Asia, etc) and not country when forming the groups, so "country" isn't really a relevant term for the LCS.

MonkeyMadness1 votesNo. But perhaps instead of the bogus "group" stage, they could do a bracket system, where all the qualifying teams from each region play amongst themselves, and when only 1 team from each region remains, they create a new bracket to merge the winners of each region. That way a maximum of 1 team per region can advance.

Call it an unpopular opinion or whatever else but I just don't see any excitement in that, no drama, no stakes, no tension. Yeah I know we do this thing by teams rather than regions, but that's still how I feel about it :P
Genuinely it would be interesting if, one year Korean teams can't compete. If only so somebody else fucking wins that isn't called SKTT1, but also to see who has the gumption to rise to the top. After all we've not had a Western team win since Season1 when it was FNATIC, heck it'd be interesting to see how far a wild card team would get.
Don't get me wrong I'm not saying SKT don't deserve it, clearly they do to have done it THREE times but...surely I can't be the only one who sees this as rather formulaic.
