So is it just me or was UOL's ban phase the worst you've ever seen?

They banned every decent ADC except for Sivir - the absolute best ADC you can pick. Then they went "oh shit, we have to pick Lucian now." In all. three. games. Their bans were just extra bans for FNC at that point.

First game, they didn't even rotate for Shen and Elise, who are also #1 in their spot. At least they fixed that - and their game significantly improved.

Last game, they threw in devourer Kayle, but then deliberately starved her by putting Elise in the jungle and Kayle in mid. I can't be the only person that sees this as counterproductive.

And even if you have to ban Sivir instead of Kalista, for the love of crap, do it. Stop letting them pick their comfort picks and at least try to throw them off their game and make slight mistakes.

There were a lot of in-game mistakes that were just... strange. charging the wrong targets, fleeing straight into a rumble ult, positioning the team to maximize the damage from all that aoe, it just never really stopped. But aside from that, their bans just really irritated me because they seemed to be backwards.

What was the Shen Elise Lucian Braum synergy they were going for anyway?

UoL needed to do something about sivir or the heavy engage comp. They didn't really do that. They needed something to get to the enemy's back lane, they didn't get that.

The commenters said they don't really have a proper shot-caller for the team. I think this is their problem. They don't have a leader.

Hell, they could've even gone Shen/Twitch submarine ambush combo, and it would've done far better than Lucian. All the other AD carries in the world, and they shoehorn Vardags onto Lucian... Even an attack speed death by a thousand papercuts TF would've been better.

We all knew that Vardags was going to crash and burn. The most frustrating part was that by picking Lucian 3 times he pulled Hylissang down with him.

They could have picked Caitlyn Ashe Graves Jinx Tristana Vayne Urgot . Nothing is worse than Lucian , it's an auto lost lane.

At this point though I think they just need to find a new ADC. You can't have a player who can only play 1 champion in a pro setting.

Regardless of pick and ban I don't think UOL had a shot of beating Fnatic in a best of 5 or even three because Fnatic is such a better team compared to UOL. But here will be my overview of the pick an bans for Fnatic Vs. UOL.

Game 1

Fnatic Fnatic - Bans attack POE. Varus Oriana Victor. Make sence because Febiven does play Azir and Victor does well against Azir.

UOL -Kalista Janna lulu - Rekless on Kalista against Vardags will result in kills in lane which is not needed and Rekless does have the ability to hard carry on this champion. Janna is a top tier pick so getting rid of that I think is smart. The lulu can be annoying with Olaf and can run straight at POE and Vardags.

Fnatic

Sivir Elise Shen Riven Azir

Yellow star on support Shen I think that's a little different than normal but the main thing I see here is the Riven. Huni playing Riven I think is going to be interesting especially with Huni's play style and Reignover can easily protect him with the strong Elise counter gank. Where as UOL has Nautalis and Reksia in that "2 v 2" Easily goes to Fnatic.

UOL

Alistar Reksia Naut Lucian Kog'maw

I like the Alistar Reksia, I dont like the Lucian Nautalis. The kog'maw is just because of what is left of his champion pool.

Game 2

Fnatic - Bans attack POE. Varus Oriana Victor. Make sence because Febiven does play Azir and Victor does well against Azir.

UOL - Kalista Janna lulu - Still not understanding the Janna ban with the team comp UOL is running.

Fnatic

Sivir Olaf Alistar Rumble Azir

Standard team comp they've ran that numerous of times throughout the split.

UOL

Shen Elise Bruam Lucian Ezreal

  • I think the Ezreal is still potent just not has in charge as it used to be. I would of liked to see something like a kassadin from POE if you aren't going to ban the Azir out, and have more wave clear in the top lane since Kassadin has poor wave clear.

Game 3

Fnatic - Bans attack POE. Varus Oriana Victor. Make sence because Febiven does play Azir and Victor does well against Azir.

UOL - Janna Azir Ahri. Bans all around I think the Janna is a good ban and so is the Azir. The Ahri ban the only reason I can think of why UOL is banning that is because of POE"s champion style being very immobile and Ahri's abilities favor immobile champions.

Fnatic -sivir -Alistar -Lulu -Rumble -Olaf

The lulu olaf combo is very annoying for the ADC and it does ignore the CC that UOL does have already in place. The Sivir also will be speeding up everyone as well as the alistar's righteous glory if that is built. Rumble's equalizer will slow them so its a very heavy engage team comp.

UOL -Shen -Elise -Bruam -Lucian -Kayle

Good first pick rotation, don't think Fnatic favors the Elise so I think you could of grabbed something else instead such as the Alistar since it is a top tier support pick. Bruam and Lucian again i don't see why UOL is still trying to work with this. Then Kayle with devour. I don't know why he went with Kayle i was expecting him to go with something like Syndra something hes is comfortable on or something he can "hard carry" with.

Overall Fnatic ban out POE and UOL tries to keep playing lucian and bruam/alistar. The real question is though, where was Hylissang's thresh and Morgana? I think those 2 champions of his are the reason why UOL is so good. He has carried them a few times in playoffs with those champions and he played bruam 2 games and Alistar for one game. I don't think their draft was terrible I just think Fnatic overall is a better team and the only way I saw UOL picking up a game was either out of 2 scenarios.

Scenario 1 - Hylissang and POE go nuts and 2 vs 8 and carry their team.

or

Scenario 2 - They win a game with "cheese" picks and hope scenario 1 happens 2 more times to even come close of winning the series.
