Bjergsen has played Syndra twice and won both. The Lux was played by Shiphtur, who got stomped by Bjerg's Syndra.

Actually, Bjerg blind picked Syndra. Shiphtur chose Lux as a counter. And I suppose it's fair to say I misspoke; Shiphtur stayed fairly even in lane (or as even as NA mids get vs Bjerg, anyway).

Bjergsen is picking Syndra because she's one of his favorite champs and he's comfortable enough on her to blind pick her into any opponent. Lux was chosen because Dig wanted a mage with pick potential, which is where Lux came into play. She didn't look particularly good or bad, but the way Dig played their fights caused them to sink.

No i realize why Lux is a good pick, I watch quite a bit of LCK. Thunderlords buffed up her long range burst, and making picks is very strong in their stale "Screw around mid until Baron teamfight"

Is it? I don't have time to watch anything more than NA/EU, so short of what the analysts talk about I'm completely oblivious to LPL/LCK meta. I didn't know she was actually being picked.

Yea burst in general is also very good against the triple ADC comps we're seeing now. I haven't seen much LPL though.

One team in particular uses Lux a lot (KT Rolster, you might remember them from the Worlds' Quarterfinals), but they are also the worse offender for dragging out games.

Lux has been played quite a bit in Korea (5 bans, 6 matches), and was played in both EU and NA this week.

Lux>Syndra by a lot rn. Having safe burst is really powerful in this stale ass seige meta where everyone play safe as fuck until baron, because she's one of the few champions that can pick someone off in the mid lane when it gets to that point. Also she benefits from thunderlords quite a bit.

Lux's niche as a champion is long range burst, and that is very powerful rn. Leblanc provides something similar, as she also has safe burst, but she has less pick potential (and more mobility, arguably more safe).

It's sad Zed, Talon and Jayce aren't seeing enough play, that's because in organized play it is very hard to out-scale mages as AD caster/assassin.

Doesn't mean I wouldn't want to see some flashy Plays from Zed in the LCS.

The thing here is NA LCS isn't that competitive. There's a lot of absolute shit-tier teams relative to the top tier, which means a more skilled player like Bjerg can basically just play whatever the fuck he wants and it will work for him. If he were to go to Korea and try to play Syndra against even a mid-low tier team he'd be mercilessly crushed into the ground for it. I don't think this could be used as any real sort of argument for Syndra being even decent right now especially since NA LCS is basically a joke compared to other competitive leagues.

Lux is seeing far more play across far more competitive regions. I think it's much more reasonable to make arguments about her than Syndra.

I think your view of the NA LCS is heavily skewed by the Worlds outlook from last year. Looking at both regions, I don't think EU has any more power than NA does this year, and I think IMT looks to be the most superior team out of both regions by far in their current state.

You also need to remember that NA and EU are playing on a different patch than that of the rest of the world. Once the other regions get updated to the new patch, you'll likely see a bit more variety in the meta across other regions. Syndra is in a good position in terms of power atm, even in pro play. she's just not popular in other regions because she doesn't have as much security as most other top picks. She's much stronger than some of the other pocket picks we've seen out of other regions; personal preference has to be taken into account every time you watch a high profile player pick an off-meta champ.

I've been watching competitive LOL for years, over that time NA's only won a single tournament where none of the other regions showed up to play. I've never really seen NA look at all close to any of the other 3 major regions.

People were calling NA better at the start of last year. People have historically always overestimated NA teams right before they fall flat on their face.

Even if they do a lot of that comes down to Reignover and Huni, two Korean players. Sure IMT looks good right now but you've got to rememberer for an upper tier team like NRG, TSM or IMT there's a lot of garbage tier free win teams in the NA LCS. This is basically what Bjerg has been playing Syndra agains.

I stand by what I said, any Korean team, or any high tier European team and realistically probably high tier NA teams would crush him into the ground for picking Syndra, because she's a sub-par pick.

Guess we'll have to agree to disagree. Whatever the case may be, it will be interesting to see how things shake out as internationals start creeping up. I'm curious to see where the meta will stand at IEM and which champs (probably Graves) will get the Sivir treatment from last year.
