Finally an Eastern team who performs well...

It is about time we see the East say enough is enough.

RNG, Gen-G, and KT, all 3 teams played horribly in their respective stages... Lets say for a second that C9 was favored team to team matchup to win that match, which I do think they were, it still didn't stop Afreeca from underperforming! EDG made FNC go to 5 games, I thought it would be a 3-0 for FNC honestly, I just did not expect Afreeca to beat C9, or EDG to beat FNC.

Lets talk about Gen-G, at the beginning of the tournament I said that this team is either going to go 1-5 in group stage or win worlds. One or the other no inbetween. This organization throughout their history has always been the worst best of 1 team in the world, they offset this weakness by being the greatest best of 5 team in the world, perhaps in the history of the game. So them dropping out of groups, this is to be expected.

KT and RNG... What happened.

Well lets go over KT first as it is the more frustrating loss to watch. 3-2 for IG. This series should never have gone this way. WHY DID KOREA COME INTO THIS TOURNAMENT THINKING MACRO WOULD WORK!?!?!?!?!? KT played game 1 and 2 like macro was the thing they needed to win games. It was after game 1 that I said they need to drop the Kai'sa and pick something early game because these skirmishes are never going in their favor. Failed to do that for game 2 and they lose that as well. They got away with a victory in game 3, they really shouldn't have, but they got away with it in the closest finish ever. Game 4 they went to what is meta and destroyed IG, made them look like G2 (too soon? LUL). Game 5 went back to the same thing that should have 3-0d them... Such disrespect from a Korean team, the likes that we have never seen before, but again I can accept that this is the case because IG is a strong team, sometimes these upsets happen.

Now RNG on the other hand, what the hell happened!? G2 did not beat you because they were better, none of their players I think are better than your players in respective positions, they also didn't beat you because their teamplay was better. You beat yourself. Sadly, but you did, and this is so uncharacteristic of Chinese teams that it is pathetic that it actually happened to the #1 seed. As many of my Chinese friends said, if you do not respect your opponent, you do not deserve to win. And G2 made you eat that disrespect. How dare you not ban the Tahm Kench away from Wadid when you know G2s entire strategy revolves around leaving Hjarnen on an island to farm while ganking mid and top??? And then you have the audacity in game 4 and 5 to throw away the series by not playing your style?? See in game 2, you guys lost the series right there. This was a 3-0 series, you had the lead, you would have gotten to pick side again, and you steamroll game 3. Instead its 1-1, and now you have to play game 4. It isn't a coincidence that they got Tahm and won with it, should have banned it game 4.

So after all of this, thank you IG for shutting up the west, because its about time an Eastern team performs to standard. Now go into the Finals, 3-0 whichever makes it out (i truthfully cannot pick this, My gut says C9 will floor FNC, but its tough to call, I've literally watched Jensen randomly int and cause his team to lose a game before), and take your S8 Championship.

As a side note, I really dislike the Quarters this year in general. I do not think the 3 strongest teams should have been on the same side of the bracket... At least throw IG against Afreeca or FNC...

Honestly I didn't think IG played super amazingly against G2. G2 was just bad.

Their drafts were awful. They let LeBlanc through twice, they had aatrox in a terrible matchup against Jayce twice, then let IG get aatrox in an even Lane where he proceeded to hard carry the teamfights later in the game (dealing close to 1/3 of each of three players total health with each of his three q's in two or three separate teamfights).

They never played to their strengths - I never saw them attempt to split in the entire series. Even when they got a lead in game three, they continued to look for picks and teamfights. A team that got through on their unique 1-3-1 style tried to switch to a group style which they're not even a top 20 team playing.

Sure, IG is not playing badly. They're playing well, I agree. I just don't think you can call a 3-0 final in their favor against C9/Fnatic. Fnatic beat them 2-1 in groups and IG only looks marginally better now than they did then. I'd expect that series to go the distance - however it could end in 3-0 with every game being close. If C9 gets through, it could easily be a 3-0 in either direction, or anything in between: C9 can show up or they can fall apart.

Got to say that G2 payed for their overconfidence in the first 2 matches. The last one was good to see and would have been really enjoyable if it wouldn't have been the last.

We've seen eastern teams dominate for years. I want the west to perform now.

Whoa whoa whoa. So you're just going to dismiss the rest of the tournament because the teams in the most attention failed at some point before what was expected of them? That's rather blind; expectations are not inevitability. You make it sound like one of those PSAs where:

Remember: When coming into Worlds. Always remember this running gag and the tournament will let you decide if it's worth watching: KR > CN > FW > EU > NA. Thank you for your time.

Saw how well that worked? Every team this Worlds had a way to be beaten if you looked into some opinions; there was no definitive road to the top unless you paved it out properly. And even still, it doesn't matter if a team has the better players on paper - if you can't win out as a team, you don't deserve to advance.

There's no way in hell that today is somehow the day an Eastern Team performs well. You omit IG's clean ride through group stage alongside FNC only stumbled by the direct rival whom doesn't even have to be met until the finals. You omit EDG's steamroll of play-ins and their exceptional group stage. And for what? Because they got eliminated by FNC who was considered better in the first place? You omit RNG and KT's group stages in which defined what was expected of them going throughout the tournament. But it's just like I said above. Everyone was overhyping Gen.G for what happened the last years and not the last couple of months. And there weren't any stark expectations for AFS or the LMS unless they were winning but for AFS case at least they made a fair showing.

If you thought everything was inevitable because of what numbers you read, ranks you saw, and history you held so close to your head, then consider that a slap to the face. IG winning now in no way felt like some kind of "OMG THEY'RE THE EASTERN TEAM WE NEED" reaction. It should have been like that at the start of the tournament otherwise you're just being a damn bandwagoner.

As a side note, I really dislike the Quarters this year in general. I do not think the 3 strongest teams should have been on the same side of the bracket... At least throw IG against Afreeca or FNC...

You do realize the strongest teams got drawn to the same side of the bracket and that IG can't face FNC due to being in the same group right? This response right here just sounds like someone who would call rigged.
