The sustain on some champs right now is pretty ridiculous. Especially ones with no real resources to manage.

His Q actually doesn't require him to spend health. Only his W and E require health. So no, he doesn't use HP to heal for more HP, he uses AP to heal for more HP

Doesn't his pool damage heal him as well? I haven't used him in quite a while though so I may be mistaken.

Actually yes, I forgot about that, but it's not a major amount. It's 15% of the damage dealt by the pool. So it's not a super large amount. Unlike his Crimson Rush empowered Q which can heal him for 3/4th of his health.

He was actually not a major factor in the games I watched. Even when Bjerg went 2-0 with him early in game 4 he didn't have a major impact in most of the team fights. Vlad is a solo lane bully sure, but he spent most of time in fights running back and try to stay alive from the back end.
