Week 1 feedback thread: Here New week, new thread. Since launch, we've shipped a few balance micropatches and added in a new event and reward. This week, we’ll be continuing with general balance patches as the need arises and prepping for the 8.17 release.

Speaking of 8.17, we'll be shipping a larger update than a micropatch. Some of the changes we're working on are: Map changes (with a scuttle crab in the bottom lane) Some new events A new reward A new item Numerous system changes

I just want some algorithm change for where capture points (king of the hill, bardle royale) are located if a team is ahead or behind. Currently, I have had games where the game is pretty much even (turrets still up or both teams have 1-2 towers) and the king of the hill point is under the enemy tower in the jungle. Just yesterday I played a game where the first event was king of the hill and all towers still standing with our team at 4 kills and the enemy at 3 and the hill point was under the enemy mid tower and was impossible to contest. I have also seen bardle royale rings being really deep in enemy territory when our team lead isn't even that bad.

I would also recommend nerfing Dark Harvest stacks (like what was done on ARAM because crit/ad Thresh is really dumb) and maybe nerf some of the lethality items/champions because champs like MF/Talon/Wukong seem to be doing too much with the increase gold income and not being able to buy resistances fast enough.

please just please make this mode draft I'm sick of playing against yasuo every game - at least last 5 games in a row he is in enemy team I don't like windwall, I want to have fun too (yes I'm aware counterplay exists, but for me playing against him is as fun as playing against zoe)

Nexus Blitz is ARAM #2 without the legitimacy of a ranked queue. You owe it to your players and their time to be definitive (yes or no) about whether that is part of an ironclad plan.

"Maybe" "Likely" "Unlikely" "Plausible" "Implausible" "We don't know" aren't acceptable answers.

Why should we as a community spend time on this, when implicitly Nexus Blitz will go the way of Dominion while SR and TT continue as the two "official" or "legitimate" League of Legends modes? Let's also remember that Morello committed to (then reneged on) a ranked queue for Dominion once upon a time, so even an affirmative answer must be taken with half a grain of salt.

Hey August, is it intended that champions with revive abilities lose the on fire buff once resurrecting, or is it a bug?

I hadn't noticed it before, but when I was playing Aatrox today I managed to get the buff, and when I revived due to my R I lost it. Thought I may as well let you know since if it is a bug it's a pretty sucky one. Thanks!

I love this mode and how it feels natural for it to go so fast, so great job to the game developers here! Me and my friends are all enjoying it.

Balance notes: Bard and Kayn both need tuning on their passives for this mode. Kayn takes far too long to collect enough damage to upgrade most of the time (since the damage to passive meter conversion is time gated), and then if he wants to wait for the other form he has to wait (an infinately more vital in this mode) 4 minutes. Bard just doesn't collect enough stacks, and while I haven't played them yet, I have suspicions about the spawn placement of their chimes as well. Bard seems like their stacks should be relatively simple to tune, though, since it has been changed in other modes before.

Also, just played a game two days ago where the King of The Hill spawned in the enemy base? No way to contest it at all, and I don't recall us even being ahead of them that much, so I suspect it was unintended?

Can you give us a hint on what the new item does? EDIT: Found it.... Sword of the Divine (2500 G) +25 AD +25% atk speed Unique passive: +18 lethality Unique active: Grants +100% attack speed and 100% critical chance strike for 3 seconds or 3 critical strikes (90 second cooldown).

I just discovered the 'force-end' mechanic in the push the cart event, and I have to say it feels really bad; the team that just happened to have fewer people near the cart just gets the cart instantly thrown at their tower, ending the event in confusion for everyone. I understand that there should be mechanics that force the event to end (that one could drag on forever), but could you find a way to make it feel less bad to the losing side? Maybe have the cart's speed just greatly accelerate towards the end of the event? The 'winning' side would still have the advantage, but the losing side still has some agency regarding the outcome.

Minions aren't frozen or killed by the fire in Bardle Royal, which can result in losses from super minions in the fire that are unavoidable. worth considering

Oh boy, It took awhile but today's micropatch is finally out.

Today we're focused on cleaning up a number of balance outliers on the far ends of the spectrum (either very weak or very strong vs. other members of their class). In the background we've also been working on a LARGE features that you'll be seeing in 8.17.

The MR changes from last micropatch panned out pretty well. Sustained AP damage and tanks are a bit weaker (they were too strong) and marksmen and fighters who don't like getting bursted are stronger (they were a bit too weak).

In terms of overall balance, the power spread across different champs and classes is still looking great! All classes are worth taking, and the vast majority of the cast is viable in the jungle with the right partner! We're still worried that AoE mages are slightly too strong and assassins are slightly too weak. May need to look at future class changes to bring them up. Do note that "too weak or too strong" does not mean "useless or the only things worth picking"

Having a lot of fun with this mode. Just wondering about King of the Hill placement. Is it completely random or is it influenced at all by where the minions, towers, and champs are on the map? I just had a game in which we were losing really quickly - the enemy team was at our inhib turret and luckily we got them to back off before the event started. It was King of the Hill and it spawned near our nexus, which the enemy didn't even try to contest. We got GA's and managed to turn the game around from that event. So it was really welcome for us, but my duo and I had a talk about whether or not that was really fair - me being of the opinion that we were so far behind that the enemy should've just played around our advantage before pressing us again. I think randomness and how people deal with it is an essential part of the mode, but I also think being given assistance to come back when you're so far behind is a nice twist, especially when the game tends to snowball hard with winning teams being able to win events more easily.

On another note, in the event that this becomes a permanent game mode, is there any consideration to make it Bandle City themed?

I am still seeing instances where King of the Hill ends up in the enemy's zone or even their base as the first or second event. This is incredibly unfair as this timing usually isn't enough to justify that the other team is behind and deserves a freebie to stay in the game. In these instances the event can absolutely throw the game into the other team's favour and then reward them with one of the overpowered rewards like an immense shield or GA.

I am also still under the perception that ranged champions are quite powerful. Lacking the initiation option of a snowball in ARAM, melee champs are often poked down before they can get close by a coordinated ranged team. It's even worse if one of them is "on fire". Allowing teams to make a few key bans might solve this, but otherwise I'm still seeing a big power discrepancy. Not to mention ranged teams that can easily stack CC or immense damage on top of AoE abilities (Miss Fortune, Zyra, Sona, Lux, etc.). The advantage can start as early as the brief laning phase.

Finally, respawn timers are still too long later in the game.

Feedback so far. Aside from a decay game I've only played this mode for the most part since it came out:

General stuff:

  • On fire buff is way too strong. A champ like Irelia with the buff will 1v9 people with little the other team can do about it. A support like Soraka with the buff is legit spamming full hp heals left and right and is completely broken because you can easily position far enough away that the increased squishiness doesn't matter.
  • Balance for the most part feels similar to ARAM or many other rotating modes in terms of what's broken. Artillery and poke mages, as well as supports are too strong, while 1v1 type champs like assassins are weak. *Snowball is way too high. It feels like you rely on getting a lucky event spawn to come back. *Double jungle with a random person is frustrating if you aren't on the same page. *Game time feels great. I love the shorter games. *Overall enjoyment for the mode is great.

Events:

*Scuttle racing is really cool, but positioning in the middle doesn't work well when one team is pushed in.

  • Positioning for some events feels unfair. I'm fine with events slightly favoring the losing team but sometimes it's just unfair and even can benefit the winning team sometimes.
  • Loot Teemo is really fun but sometimes runs around one teams side the whole time and is unfair
  • Bardle Royale shouldn't center around a turret. Random Juggernaut choice can feel unfair as well. I wish there was a better way to pick it.
  • King of the Hill putting half the area under a turret is lame
  • Snowballs should go through minions and the CD on regular summoner spells after it ends should be increased because people are fail flashing still.

Buffs:

  • GA and Shield feel awful to play against. They're basically a free teamfight win so it discourages the other team from interacting.
  • Rewards like the cannon and blitz hook minions feel much better and promote more interaction and fighting, and are generally more interesting than a big shield.
  • Overall impact of the buffs feels too high.

This game mode is really fun and all this feedback is given out of love btw. I'm glad there's a mode that's quick to play but actually lets me pick my champion. I don't like ARAM and much prefer this mode since I usually queue up with a few champs in mind I want to play.

Just chucking an idea:

EASTER EGG HUNT Playing off the Cottontail skin line (specifically Teemo), little easter eggs are scattered across the map (i.e. in bushes, in lane, behind rocks, etc) and the essential goal is for the team's total amount of eggs to accumulate to a certain amount. There are two main ways to obtain these eggs, either by:

  • locating them across the map
  • stealing them from a enemy by killing them.

When a team's total easter eggs reaches the goal amount they become victorious.

Just played an ivern game and it was devastating not having his passive. If his passive is not available he shouldn't be able to be picked as jungle.

I rly like the new nexus blitz game mode and also like the new changes, despite the reward "blessing of caitlyn": its too overpowered... If the enemy team gets this reward within the first 5mins, 2 shots are enough for a kill... this blessing strikes like a lvl 16 cait-ult... maybe there can be some changes into a scaling reward or just nerf it.

im oce and adding bans ruined the gamemode for me. there is literally no other game mode where i have the freedom to pick whatever champ i want. literally every game mode has a draft setting except blind pick and aram (TT on some days) . to me it ruins the purpose of fun when i can ban a champ that maybe someone else is having fun playing. but ive played about 350 games of nexus blitz and its a fiesta but its fun, its random its fast paced but with bans it just inhibits what i can play so that's why i don't like it. if bans are here to stay its fine :( ill just go back to blind pick and arams i guess xD but maybe in the future you could make another blindpick game mode or something.

It doesn't really make any sense to me at this point.

Ryze according to NA.OP.GG has a 45.75% win rate, 43.8% win rate at post 40 (late game).

Ryze according to champion.gg has a 44.3% win rate, and a 51% win rate with players with over 200 games on him in plat+.

This nerf is out of the blue. This is a terrible idea prior to worlds patch. This will not stop Ryze from being picked in a pro level. Since we all know that is what the goal is. The fundamental problem with how you are trying to hit him is "If he doesn't have a bunch of damage, maybe the pros won't pick him." The problem is, look at the old metas where Ashe Vatus Jhin Sivir and MF were picked. Utility. Ryze has a game changing ulti in pro play.

Removing 10% ap from his Q doesn't solve anything either.

All ypu have done is change a basic q w q e q to a q w q e q auto e q. And since E is on a 1.3ish second CD its not even like that 10% is going to be noticed in pro play.

The 10% AP change really only affects ryze during early game to mid game. When you take into account how risk adverse Pro Play is it wont affect anything.

In pro play its always a 2 v 2, where ryze has a 2 seconds snare at level 2. Ryze doesnt need damage to get the level 2 kill. He just needs to make sure the enemy waste spells on him and his jungler can get the kill.

So bad idea. Doesn't do anything for stopping Ryze from getting picked in pro play. All this does is make Ryze a joke of a champion and goes back to forcing another rework on him. So yay. 2 years of playing ryze is about to go down the drain because of poor design changes.

2 years where I went from 0 mastery on my main to 1.3m mastery added together from many different accounts.

Weird bug in one of mine.

Ring of fire event- me as reksai with a twitch on my team killing 2 enemy (used venom cask) around 2nd enemy tower from nexus and I got credit for kills tho I was around river.

Just played a game where the enemy "walking nexus" didn't spawn. We would have won. Link to match details

I feel like I can't consistently learn/improve with my champions in Blitz. It's primary cc/range, I prefer All for One or Dominion over this mode.

As a returning player struggling to relearn, I really liked all for one a lot. I only got to play it a few days before it cycled out, but it taught me a ton about mechanics and let me get comfortable with unplayed champions. I also like that I could compare my performance and items with my team.

Description: Can't target the Rift Herald by pinging him via minimap.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Wait until Rift Herald is not spawned.
  2. Try to target Rift Herald like any other entities you do on the minimap.

Expected result: Rift Herald is going to be targeted (pinged at minimap and showed in chat).

Observed result: Can't even target Rift Herald on the minimap.

Hey riot. Can you guys please do something about Nasus in this? I been seeing many players abuse these items item 3072 item 3065 with Q build in life steal combination. Grievous wounds doesn't do anything.

Yeah um sorry to repeat myself from last week but FIX ON FIRE BUFF. The """"""""downside"""""""" is non existant on half the fucking roster. Why am I seeing people running around on fire for 10 minutes? Stop! Nobody wants to play this! At least make it so it runs out if out of combat or ANYTHING.

Jhin players are still wiping opposing teams. He's simply not vulnerable enough to be killed when he goes on fire and ends up snowballing to victory in under 10 minutes.

Increasing the damage ranged champions take when they're on fire take does nothing to address to massive amounts of damage they can put out on short ranged champions before they can even begin to engage.

After playing more games this week, I'm starting to feel that the on-fire buff isn't needed for this mode to be fun. Honestly just makes some champions practically unkillable (despite the increased damage received) because they can kill you and your teammates in half a second each. Same for you. I mean, I've jumped in with Diana, just with R, hit them with the shield and it killed 3 of them. That was with only 2½ items and it was an even game.

pretty sure there’s a bug that occurs whenever you leave the game and join back that creates an extremely annoying flashing yellow aura around your champion

I think your role system is somehow broken. I played with 3 of my friends (4 total in party), they all queued for jungle or fill and I queued for lane, and it filled me into jungle 4 games in a row. XD

item 3029 needs some love, I've never built it and felt good about it, it takes way too long to get going and missing out on early cdr hurts.

The Sudden Death event is still bugged out. Red Side Nexus never spawns and Blue Side marches down the lane to die uncontested. In both instances of my games the enemy nexus was either low hp or was locked behind a turret. Also in one other match the enemy team auto won a event as soon as the timer ended.
