Nexus Blitz - Week 4 Feedback and Patch Notes

Week 3 feedback thread

Hey everyone, this will be the last feedback thread of the alpha, including any remaining updates we release. Though Nexus Blitz's run is coming to a close, we still want your thoughts! At this point, everyone's had several weeks to explore the mode and formulate opinions beyond first impressions; we'd love to hear about how your experience has changed and evolved since the alpha started.

This week we'll have one final micropatch which may or may not contain a new event ;)

Thanks everyone!

9/6 - Balance & feature update

CHAMP SELECT BAN TESTING IN OCE We'll be testing bans in Oceania from now through Monday morning Oceanic time. Though our intent for Nexus Blitz is to avoid an atmosphere of strict competitiveness, bans have been one of the most common requests we've seen across regions—so much so that they're at least worth testing! This isn't a guarantee that theoretical future versions of Nexus Blitz will have bans; like everything else in the alpha, we're just experimenting to see what could work.

The flame buff is tooooo strong. Once the enemy has it, it feels almost impossible to kill them :( nerf it pls

Played the new mode almost exclusively since it started and I've definitely fallen in love with it conceptually. I think the biggest strengths of the mode that should be kept/focused on are:

  1. Faster pace of the game allowing you to reach your champion's fantasy very early on in the game (not having to play through 20+mins of wave clearing to get to the fun part of your character)
  2. Giving players momentary and very focused goals (i.e. events) to force action rather than hoping they'll bother to take neutral objectives (dragon, baron)
  3. Champion select being a lot less about counter picking a lane and more about getting good champion combinations/pick whatever you like

Weaker points:

  1. Team wide snowball has felt big in this mode, hard to put the finger on why. Just seems like the better members on the losing team hardly get the best of the worst members on the winning team.
  2. Events and even rewards seem hit-or-miss in terms of being fun. The more extreme those 2 things are, the more this mode looks like a RGM rather than a permanent mode.
  3. Something feels off about the 2 lanes being so close to each other. Hook supports having pressure on both lanes at once isn't that interesting IMO.

Can you please reduce the death timers in this mode?? If this is suppose to be a fast mode (max 19 min), it doesn't make sense to have a 1 min death timer. The whole point of a big death timer is that you cannot make a game last too long, but since the Nexus becomes mobile and aggressive, the game will last a maximum of 21 min if no ones attack them and the Nexus just kill themselves.

There was a game that i died 3 times past min 15, in the last 4 min (15 min - 19 min), i spent 3 mins dead. That is just stupid. There are games that you feel like you spent half the game dead.

It should be 35 sec max.

A champ with high range combined with another that has good peel, maybe like Lux with Janna, are pretty obnoxious to deal with especially after they get on fire buff. However, the game mode is fun and can be tuned a bit more if it is going to be back in the future.

Ara Ara Ahri9/5/2018, 12:49:32 PM7 votes

I've loved nexus blitz. Nearly every game is fun, with very few exceptions. I can say, however, without a doubt, that the "blessing of caitlyn" is extremely frustrating to play against. It does massive, undodgeable damage (unless you're Braum, fizz, or yasuo, or you want to waste hourglass) at a decently high frequency. Either tune the damage way down, or change it to maybe use piltover peacemaker instead of ace in the hole.

PandaNator439/4/2018, 9:22:46 PM6 votes

Initial thoughts:

  1. While I have really enjoyed playing NB, what I really want from League of Legends is more strategic gameplay. Summoners Rift feels solved.

  2. Its way more fun that ARAM. If nothing else, I'd prefer ARAM go away and NB come back as is.

  3. Its a really fun way to try new champions, or even practice specific mechanics.

  4. Blessing of Blitzcrank was more anti-fun than fun. Please get rid of it for good. The new "Caitlyn ult" buff is better, as I gives me the option to kill the minion, rather than run from minions, which are everywhere in this game.

I'll come back and elaborate/add more when I have more time.

Edit:

  1. Events:

5a. King of the hill and battle royale are not compelling. I don't need extra incentive to kill the enemy team, the game is already so much of a death match.

5b. Scuttle racing and push the cart are the best events, they provide a different feeling than the normal kill the enemy gameplay.

5c. Loot Teemo - not a huge fan of this, not sure why. It feels WTF, in a not so good way.

5d. Walking nexus - In theory I hate this, but both times I've seen it have been super exciting. Not sure why.

5e. Snowball fight - its fine.

  1. Item Loot/Rewards: It would be interesting to somehow incorporate old school rpg loot chest, open it and have long swords, ruby crystals, BF sword, Large Rod, etc drop. I'm picturing typical dungeon crawl chest opening with items pouring out like Zoe's W icons, but items instead of spells.

6a. Perhaps jg camps reward items: i.e. wolves reward a blasting wand. Could lead to interesting interactions, if you're fighting two mage junglers, make and extra effort to steal their blasting wand camp.

  1. What would happen if passive gold was turned off? This might make that game a little more serious that intended, but it would be interesting to see. Other gold income (Creep, Kill, event) would need to be adjusted to keep the game length appropriate. This could pair well with item 6, as rewarding items is another gold income.

Been playing it almost exclusively since it came out, I have over 100 games at least on the mode:

Some of my thoughts:

I love the on-fire buff and how it operates but I think the extra damage taken should scale as you get more kills while on fire. If you play properly while on-fire and don't give the enemy many openings to kill you, you can solo carry. Also lifesteal is a thing that scales heavily with it.

I love how viable everything feels in the jungle, I can and have played so many things that WILL NOT work on SR but work fine or well on Blitz, it's a blast!

As a fill queuer, despite there being 3 laners and 2 junglers I get jungle 90% of the time. I'd like a little more variety, but I'm not sure how you can squeeze it out of people.

Regarding events:

Snowball: This is one of my least liked events. The snowball CD is too low imo and the slow is too heavy. If everyone aims for one person and one hit lands suddenly you are pelted by snowballs without much counterplay. This event also heavily favors whichever team is pushing the hardest since you can hide behind minions.

Teemo\Veigar: My most disliked event...it's hard for me to explain why. I just find it to be very annoying, even if we are winning it. I do love the aspect of them being like Diablo loot goblins where they give gold as you attack them. That's fun.

Bardle Royale: Very fun and intense, especially the Blackout version! I like the sense of urgency. Circles have gotten better as well. I think the fire damage should scale as the circle closes in though, too many times I spawn at the wrong time and am caught in the fire as I am running back onto the map because I play a lot of low ms champions like AD who only have 380 ms so the buff doesn't move me faster than the circle. It is frustrating when you can't outrun the circle from fountain.

Scuttle Racing\KOTH\Push the cart: Fun and different pace from normal league! I like these!

Sudden Death: A lot of people seem to have issues with this but I like it, I think all it needs is a countdown timer in game. Maybe a big red countdown a minute before or something to make people aware it's coming up. I don't like that the pushing team has the disadvantage of being near the enemy spawn. Maybe instead of having them walk, have them teleport or something to the center to make it more fair.

Buffs: Blessing of Blitzcrank - It's alright, usually it's not a big deal.

Blessing of Caitlyn - This can get annoying, I feel like the damage can get too high on it and the frequency seems often.

Catapult - Now this one...I haven't seen or heard anyone talk about this one. It's fun and all but I feel like the team that gets this one has the biggest advantage possible. A team that gets this early on is at a massive advantage over their opponent. Catapult snowballs games massively. Essentially giving a semi global TP in the base is very strong.

BFShield\GA\Super Regen - Is aight. I don't have much to say about it. There's a few times where it's really relevant, but mostly it's just midly annoying. These are balanced imo. I like them being timed instead of permanent so you have to take advantage of them before they run out. I really like that about these. Permanent buffs can be too overwhelming.

Penguin: I like my little penguin friend. Do not take him away from me.

Items: As an OG player from late Season 2 I love the addition of the old items back in. I'd love to see a few more, it's got me and my friend who's played since S1 hyped! One thing he mentioned to me that he wishes was in NB is Sword of the Divine. I personally would love to see Madred's Bloodrazor\Ionic Spark back since these were a couple of my favorite items from back in the day. He also said he wishes Leviathan was there, but I'm not too sure I want that in the game again...that might be a bit too broken.

Meta:

A lot of stuff is viable I love it!

Bugs:

Ivern passive doesn't work.

The44thMusketeer9/4/2018, 10:04:19 PM5 votes

Legit the most fun I had this whole Season :)

I'd love it if NB stays as a permanent gamemode. It's really hype and I can't wait for a unique final map theme like Howlling Abyss has with Freljord, Ice and Cold and Twisted Treeline with Shadow Isles and spoopy forest!

Vexilus9/5/2018, 11:18:11 PM4 votes

There's a glaring problem with this gamemode that I could lead to its downfall.

There's a simple fact that, it's always fun to win. But it's almost never fun to lose.

In SR and ARAM, for the most part you can have a good loss. Even if you lose you don't really feel bad about it. Yes there's tilt that can happen but in most games losing doesn't really feel that bad.

but that isn't the case in this gamemode.

For example in my last game. Our team was maybe 3 or 4 kills up to their 2 kills. The first event was the bardle royale, but the placement of it was inside their jungle between their tower and wolves. We lost obviously because there was no good way to fight around that area. They win the event and get BF shields, the one reward I have the biggest issue with.

But even so we were still able to fight back a bit. we got a couple of kills in return but in the meantime they were able to take two of our towers. At the time of the second event we were down two towers and had about 12 kills to their 16. Second event was KoTH placed around blue buff. We got floored because they already had a large lead as well as two champions on fire. They won and got Wrath of the hunter.

Beyond this point there was no chance for us to come back and shortly after that event they won the game. There was no time were I really felt that we could come back. And that's the problem. Snowball is too overwhelming.

If the game is skewed against you at the start you feel powerless. There's a reason there's a large amount of games that end in a surrender. Because once they enemy team gets that good lead it's more worth your time to ff and try again. There are few games of NB i've played that didn't end in one team surrendering, usually those moments were around the Walking Nexus'.

The main point is that when you win it feels good, but when you're put at an overwhelming disadvantage surrendering quickly becomes the easiest solution than to try and play it out.

Spideraxe9/4/2018, 9:37:41 PM4 votes

Super fun, I'd personally like some more events, the high amount of random events is what makes the gamemode really fun

Mario Lopez9/11/2018, 1:27:21 AM4 votes

Do you guys plan on shortening the death timers once the game nears or enters sudden death? I feel as if it is way too punishing. A lot of times, I've seen a team that was incredibly far ahead lose 1-2 people in one bad team fight and then proceed to lose the game because they were outnumbered or aced for 50+ seconds. On top of that, any plans on removing the snowball event? I have almost 200 Nexus Blitz games under my belt and I have not heard one person say that they enjoy that event.

La Bello9/5/2018, 12:49:21 AM3 votes

same champions appear a lot. Lux must have a 80% pick rate or something.

blessing of blitz buff isnt really fun. its just annoying same with blessing of cait buff which doesnt seem to have any counterplay. its just HAHA U LOST HALF UR HP FOR NO REASON xDDDD ISNT THAT FUN (no it isnt).

On-Fire should make it so you cant regen from fountain. On champs with good range or defensive tools its obnoxiously hard to get rid of.

Nexus Sudden Death should carry over current Nexus HP % OR it should insta respawn everyone like Bardle Royale.

Bf shields should taper down overtime.

Djhinn Tonic9/8/2018, 6:00:55 AM3 votes

I still feel that there is a big power discrepancy between different events and also their rewards. For example, it is still extremely beneficial to get BF shields or team-wide GAs compared to something like the mega ocean drake or blitzcrank. Even the events are extremely unbalanced in how they favor the other team. For instance, a KOTH event that favors the losing side will be much harder for the leading team to win compared to, say, push the cart.

In addition, the mode lacks strategic depth which I suspect will bore players after a few tens of games. What many league players like (I imagine) are making good macro decisions that are augmented by micro decisions that result in great outplays. Currently, NB seems to lack the former. Maybe it's because the map size is too small? One might argue that ARAM is also the same in terms of its shallow strategic depth, but I don't think we need to have another mode that is just mindless "ARAM MID". Maybe there should be unique mini-objectives instead of simple red/blue bluffs and the herald? One could take notes from HOTS in this regards. Another way to increase strategic depth would be to announce which event will be coming up next, which can allow mini mind-games between the two teams to get a better position for the event based on who is winning/losing.

Overall, this is an extremely fun mode, and I feel optimistic about its prospects. Here's hoping that this becomes a permanent game mode soon.

Dancer Neeko9/7/2018, 6:40:44 AM3 votes

my personal feedback/comments/suggestions:

  • blessing of caitlyn is too overpowered. im all for different blessings and i like the idea of the cait one, but the fact that you can receive 3 cait ults that do the same damage as an actual cait ult in the face in the same second is ????. needs damage to be tuned down significantly.
  • iirc blessing of khazix didnt have a time limit written in chat when you get it which made me think it was permanent but it isnt. i do love that blessing though.
  • push the cart event shouldnt reward you with a blessing when youre already getting a free objective out of it imo, allows way too much for snowball.
  • i love snowball fight but the slow onhit is way too sigificant. once you get hit by one snowball its incredibly hard to dodge any other bc of how much slowed you are. that said i love the little pengu you get for hitting snowballs and how it gets bigger, keep this by all means!!
  • king of the hill/bardle royale circles... need work. especially KOTH. multiple times ive had my team dominating the first half of a game only to lose our entire lead to a circle that was placed behind the enemy turrets for some reason. quite unfair circle placements can legit lose you a game so id appreciate if the circles were in neutral places. or just like, you know, not where turrets are.
  • talking about turrets: that one turret in the jungle? it feels very useless. when i first read the descriptive of the mode i saw "oh theres a turret in the enemy jungle, do not go there!" so i imagined a fountain laser-like turret, but its actually just a normal turret. it doesnt keep you safe from invades when it doesnt do that much damage. its too easy to dive and imo it shouldnt. perhaps turn it into old nexus turrets on rift, continuous beam?
  • first event takes too long to happen imo. the game kinda takes too long to start and tbh the mode feels a bit boring without events, particularly the start where you need to wait for something to happen.
  • could the winner of loot teemo/veigar be whichever team has gotten the most gold from it rather than who lasthits it? i dont think it should be a smite fight when teemo/veigar can literally just run into the enemy jungle or behind their turrets and you cant follow and its a free win for them even tho your team legit did 90% of the work.
  • why does herald give both baron buff and the herald summon, theres literally no counterplay to that esp with the amount of minions you get against you once your two outer turrets are down.
  • i understand this is meant to be a fast mode, but snowballing potential is just too high and unless you somehow win sudden death while the enemy team is already at your nexus, comeback chances are very low. while i do like the fast pace, this should still be a fair and FUN mode imo and its just way too easy to get run down.
  • please move blue buff somewhere that isnt the middle of the river. its seriously just a nuisance there.
  • is on fire through assists different than on fire through kills? i havent been able to tell but imo they should be different. also extra damage taken while on fire should scale with killing streak otherwise its way too easy to just not die while killing everyone. and then again, snowball.

i love the concept of the mode though and i want to keep playing it so thank you for the first iteration of it ❤

Jeddy0179/4/2018, 10:38:55 PM3 votes

If I may ask, are there plans to add an option to role swap while in champ select in the future? Meaning if I get jungle & another player gets lane, I can ask to swap & give them jungle while I lane. Similar to champ trading. Me & my league friends tried to swap before, but I couldn't switch off smite & they couldn't pick up smite. So we were stuck with the role we got. I think it would be a nice feature to at least offer to players.

Sorry if this has already been discussed before. Just thought I ask about it.

Calabera9/4/2018, 10:48:21 PM3 votes

I feel like NB suffers from the same issues ARAM does and that is poke champions are a little too strong at all stages of the game, especially Lux. Once they get the On Fire buff then you get nuked before you even have time to react, and since they can do so from a safe range it means they're never in a position to get caught since towers are close to each other. Shield stacking is also a huge problem because of the games increased cap on cooldown reduction.

Samuel Murphy9/4/2018, 10:51:20 PM3 votes

I think after getting the on fire buff, and then getting 4-5 more kills the extra dmg penalty should be pretty extreme. Doing untold dmg and low af cool downs, but you should get popped from just about anyone's full combo.

Also, paranoia flame battle wasan awesome addition. Thank you!

Equ1no0x9/5/2018, 12:39:57 AM3 votes

IMO the fire buff should either be tweaked or removed. The reward for making a player have a 4 killing streak makes them unkillable and the only actual way to kill them is a 3v1 or more. If they have peel, you already lost the match.

Hexs Fortune9/4/2018, 9:43:27 PM3 votes

I've been playing a good amount of Lucian and one thing I've noticed is how good (maybe too good) high range champs and divers are on the map. The two extremes seem to benefit the most.

BendableFeast9/5/2018, 1:56:13 AM3 votes

A list of demands... jk suggestions.

  1. bans
  2. Why not loot a random champ? Idk how much of a pain that would be but it is interesting.
  3. Dragon in the pit before rift spawns.
  4. A spawn gate like arram has had, so every one can get on the map at the same time.
  5. Please do not make this all random.
  6. Pump up that turret damage, they hit like baby ram.
  7. The lane around turrets feels awkward.
  8. Again plzzzzzzz do not make this all random.

Overall this is my new favorite game mode and I don't even want to play SR anymore. [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

EROTIC RAID BOSS9/4/2018, 9:22:54 PM3 votes

wait what you guys are gonna stop running nexus blitz? tbh I just assumed you guys would keep running it until it either developed into a full game mode or didn't.

Does this mean interest in the game mode waned too much?

Aether Liger9/6/2018, 1:00:53 AM3 votes

Hmm Well after playing a lot Nexus Blitz:

Blessings of Caitlyn, Blitzcrank, Janna, and the Catapult of Champions need to have a timer.

Loot Teemo and Veigar, the pathing in the jungle is tricky when it decides to go under those towers.

Scuttle Race needs to have immunity towards CC. It also interacts weirdly with speed buffs.

On Fire Buff needs to be what we call glass Cannon, high damage, high vulnerability (receives increased damage) (If someone manages to get a Killing Spree it means that one is capable of not dying) but right now one people on fire with tank items can survive a lot and also deal a lot of damage. And be differentiated from the Juggernaut buff from the event.

There are not safe places if a Bush champion is in the game (Rengar, etc)

Undermind9/6/2018, 9:14:57 AM3 votes

Blitzcrank blessing is a NEGATIVE buff for a lot of champions. It doesn't even matter, which team got the buff. If the enemies got the buff, alright you have to stay away from their minions and towers. But if your team got the buff you have to stay away from your own minions, cuz you don't want the enemies bruiser/juggernaut in your face.

Maybe i am biased, because i play a lot of Aurelion Sol, and having any melee-champion on top of you is no fun, but I imagine there are more champions, who are happy if the enemy has no cheap gapclose to you ;-)

BPRD9/7/2018, 12:06:08 AM2 votes

This game mode is absolutely the saving grace of a game that has fallen in decline for me after playing for 5 years.

The mode is needed to keep the game alive and fresh and is beyond wonderful practice for SR. I've learnt so much with other champions I don't play regularly. It was really a blast.

But the real reason Nexus Blitz is great is because it fits that perfect time slot. 20 mins. I don't always have an hour to dedicate to league each night. I as well as many other people have busy lives and this game mode allows people would couldn't play before (because of time restraints) are now able to enjoy this great game again. Just think about that a bit before you nix it. (also fyi, ARAM sucks. I want to pick my champs and stuff.) Thanks for reading.

  • Tanks need toning down.

      ![DrMundo](https://ddragon.leagueoflegends.com/cdn/16.11.1/img/champion/DrMundo.png) ![Maokai](https://ddragon.leagueoflegends.com/cdn/16.11.1/img/champion/Maokai.png) ![Malphite](https://ddragon.leagueoflegends.com/cdn/16.11.1/img/champion/Malphite.png) ![Nautilus](https://ddragon.leagueoflegends.com/cdn/16.11.1/img/champion/Nautilus.png) ![Poppy](https://ddragon.leagueoflegends.com/cdn/16.11.1/img/champion/Poppy.png) in particular are a bit too strong.

Even more so if they happen to get the on fire buff.

  • We still need a ban phase.

There's certain champions on this game mode that make it very anti fun for many people to play. (Yasuo, Rengar, Zed, Lux for example)

  • Champions with long duration Camouflage.

Twitch, Evelynn, Rengar and Pyke are too strong/oppressive to play against due to the intended counterplay to their camouflage mechanics not being present in the game mode.

Either give their camouflage durations nerfs in Nexus Blitz or allow Control Wards on the map.

  • Event based feedback.

Scuttle Racing - Main issue I have with this event is how Keystones like Lethal Tempo, Hail of Blades and Conqueror activate when attacking them.

Loot Veigar and Teemo - Main Issue I have here is how whichever team can Crowd Control Teemo/Veigar wins this event.

  • Event reward feedback.

Blessing of Kha'Zix - Who thought giving players stealth for entering brushes was a good idea? It was removed from Kha'Zix himself for being a toxic and unhealthy mechanic. It needs to go.

Blessing of Blitzcrank - I'm fine with this event reward but I strongly believe the hook should NOT go through enemy minions.

Blessing of Zilean - Guardian Angel duration is way too long. It needs to be reduced to 45 - 60 seconds. 90 is way too much.

Blessing of Janna - If the shield is going to remain that big then it should decay over like 45 seconds.

Blessing of Soraka - Seems fine to me, no issues here.

Blessing of Caitlyn - Another toxic blessing that needs to go.

Catapult of Champions - Seems fine to me, No issues here.

Cursed Minions - 2 minutes is probably a bit too long, 1 minute - 90 seconds would be fairer.

Belariand9/5/2018, 8:07:50 PM2 votes

Needs a ban option and something to deal with champs that have perma stuns and go on rampage. The flame buff completely breaks them. Just had a game against Zoe, could invade from the other lane instantly, permanent stun pretty much everywhere on the map due to so many walls being so well placed, and fog of war + ult make it impossible to dodge. If she misses, she can shoot stun off again within 3/4 seconds, it's extremely frustrating to play against and snowballs way too hard.

I also played as Zilean, same thing with ult, a 25 second cd means I can res twice in one team fight most times, especially unfair for events like flaming circle. Veigar is kind of balanced with it, but not really, an instakill ult on such a short cd and area stun doesn't work out well.

The flame buff is just too extreme for glass cannons who are not supposed to take damage anyways. The only glass cannons where it's all right is melees like yi as you can properly play around to shut him down, but range ones with stuns it's pretty much impossible, making it extremely frustrating to play those games.

I love the nexus blitz mode in terms of so much happening, as someone who near exclusively plays ARAM, the faster pace is much appreciated, also love that some of the old items are back like Atma and DFG.

Another feature I'd like is the ability to trade lane/jungle position, e.g. when playing premade we both pick lane and jungle, but if one of us gets jungle, sometimes the other would take the jungle instead or both go jungle, etc.

Overall, if the game breaking OP steam roll problems are fixed, this would be my go to game mode, it's a worthy dominion successor.

EDIT: Oh and blessing of Cait, that needs to either be fixed or changed, being ulted 4x at the same time is just insane. There is no counter, nothing you can do, if you are a mage and have zhonya, that will work for about 20 seconds after it when you get targeted again. One cait ult every ~20-30 seconds, that could maybe be okay, but not the way it triggers. It is probably the strongest buff besides the Kha'zix one if the enemy has assassins.

HideofTerramorph9/6/2018, 1:30:24 PM2 votes

I would play it more than i play ARAM. As non stressful as aram, game length is where i want it, but with an obvious higher degree of depth than aram.

Yo, so first time posting on Nexus Blitz and I’ve been a big fan of the game mode. I love the quick pace, and the little bit of chaos that ensues is amazing. For the note I have on the subject:

  1. There’s a teemo veigar bug where it says teemo then immediately switches to veigar...
  2. The sudden death (thanks for giving a heads up, though sometime I miss the message) I... never really like it because if one side is super pushed, then the nexus goes into the enemy teams base... it’s pretty annoying... i’d Play with the nexus’s health personally, and if one team has all their structures down, the enemy team should at least get some reward for that...
  3. Scuttle bug sprinting during the event isn’t explained... and makes me slightly mad...
  4. WTF give ivern some relevance in this game mode, you can’t just discard his passive... I had a super painful game of beating up jungle creatures... I was expecting just a longer delay till the camps were ready to harvest... sigh
  5. An easy way to circumvent paranoia is to ping like crazy... also some hero abilities (looking at taliyah) have super noticeable abilities in the paranoia. Also I personally feel like you should be able to see team mates when they’re in a bush close to you, but eh, keeps the event true to its name. Also, Might need another non fighting event where teams that are far behind don’t have to contest over an area or something. I really appreciate the snowball event (though feel like snowballs should do more damage.... 2% health? :3) Also loot teemo and veigar should stray away from the upper turrets.... also why do the turrets have health? Oooh maybe you could maybe them 5 aa health to disable them for 20 seconds (melee attacks count as two health)
  6. Oooh items... maybe a couple more ap ones, but I really liked the additions/call backs to old items :J
  7. Why does only the main wolf explode and nothing else in the jg camp? Hahaha, maybe the tiny wolves have tiny explosions? I’d be down for that. Also, jg timers? ;D
  8. I can sometimes walk on the top walls of the map (when i’m On the left side and want to go to the top of jg, I find myself not walking on the ground texture
  9. I feel like the best reward might be blessing of Caitlyn, and worst reward... I think is ocean drake, though Since im low elo, I also feel like wrath of the hunter buff could last a bit longer as well. I agree with someone above that the chair buff and blitz buff should be on a timer. I really appreciate all the other buffs though :D
  10. Just a really nice short game mode that I really enjoy. There’s a lot of forced competition, celebration for new rewards, yea! Thanks for the crazy experiment, can’t wait to see more of it!

Having played roughly 100 matches between Live and PBE, I have to say this is the most fun mode Riot's put out since Urf. Really, really hoping it stays for the long run, as aside from the normal SR gameplay, this is it!

I am super in love with this game mode. Cool to have a change to the traditional structure that is SR and TT. The old items, along with the event specific items being brought into the game is incredibly fun and exciting. It opens whole new play styles and builds. My biggest concern is the blessing of Caitlyn. It feels terrible to be on the receiving end, and I tend to feel guilty when my team gets it. It should be severely changed, like maybe traps being placed or tossed periodically. Or nets or the peacemaker being shot. Or it could be a 90 second reward, pressuring the receiving team to utilize it while they can. But something that can't be dodged that does so much damage is absurd. I once got targeted three times in a row within a 10 second time frame.

I just played a game where my duo jg (Lucian had smite) bought a Doran's Lost Blade and went to lane. I pinged for assistance to clear the jg because u take a lot of dmg at lv 1 vs the jg in NB with just starting jg item. He used his Flash (meant to smite?) on 1st jg camp then kept going to lanes underleveled. Needless to say, we lost that game very quickly. I'm just wondering if it's a reportable offense when a Jungler goes to lane. It basically forces the other jungler to lane which means shared exp, and it's bad when you're a jungler/champion that wants to reach level 6. One of the worst experiences with NB so far and I doubt the team cared to report because "It's just Nexus Blitz. It's just Alpha. This isn't ranked. It's a casual game mode". That Lucian made it impossible for me to have fun because I couldn't even play the role I was given (I was fill so I usually get jg). They didn't say anything in champ select about wanting to lane or anything. No pings. No chat. Just did their own thing which fucked me & the team over.

If a game manages to make it to the end of Nexus Blitz (18 min mark)- I believe that the game should "reset."

For Example, All champions should be teleported back to the base/ be revived and have a clean start to head off to defeat the enemy nexus. Similar to what happened when Doom Bot Teemo was summoned. I have played many games were if you have at least one person dead before the event starts, and the are left completely helpless as the final most crucial moment of the game commences and they are helpless.

I do not understand why champions revive for the start of Bardle Royal- but not for the kill the nexus event.

i was told to come here with nexus blitz related stuff.

you overlooked Garen when you did nexus blitz specific tuning. he feels insanely weak in that mode.

part of it has probably to do with how defenses are nerfed there, and that his w didndt get a buff to its stack mechanic like it has on aram. we cant farm 160 minions to stack our w resistances in that mode. pls tune him up.

also health and defense heavy bruiser builds feel like garbage despite atmas reckoning. might want to look into that aswell. like i can have 4k hp with garen w active and still get killed in a second. thats a bit much.

mages are overpowered in that mode aswell. because of all the teamfighting for objectives, teams only have to stack the aoe from a couple of mages to win every fight.

On OCE, so experienced the banning phase. Banning phase was super quick and didn't feel like it detracted from the game time or even the champion pool. Both sides banned similar champions. Overall, playing NB feels like more interactions between champions are possible. You get people working together in the jungle that you would otherwise never see together. NB is fast paced and hardly feels like a chore at all to play. I really enjoy playing this mode with friends. Some competition exists, but I rage/flame far less. It feels like a funner version of ARAM.

==== GAMEPLAY SUGGESTIONS ====

1/ Please disable recall during events that will kill you, if you do recall. Yes. I recalled on low health during a ring of death event and died in fountain. Wasn't thinking.

2/ I played many games before realising I could access the cannon - just never noticed it and was never on the field /near an ally when they used it. Needs to be some sort of obvious sign or something to show it is there and what it does. Maybe even the ability to "purchase" or activate it in your inventory, so you KNOW what it is/does.

3/ Clearer indicator or announcement of buffs gained. Whether that be through voice over or on-screen text, it can be easy to miss what's happening. Even announcer saying, "Blue Team wins Event #3 - Janna Buff" or whatever.

4/ Death timers are too devastating towards the mid/end of the game. Lose a teamfight, lose two-three towers. Possibly reduce the timer based on how many minions on the map. I'd rather win or lose the game during an event, than watch the enemy team blitz through all the towers and take the Nexus because we had one bad teamfight.

5/ Needs more events more frequently! Events from my last game: Juggernaut, Loot the Teemo, Snowball Fight, King of the Hill, Nexus Walk. While that may seem like a lot, it didn't feel like it. There were skirmishes happening everywhere, of course, but more events would be more fun, forcing more interactions between allies and enemies.

6/ What about quests that give tangible rewards? Taking enemy jungle is so dangerous alone that I've rarely done it unless they're all dead/their presence is occupied elsewhere, and co-ordinating it with ally jungle is very difficult. But if there were quests for junglers, like "Clear x enemy jungle camp", it'd force the junglers to pick between ganking, counter-ganking, jungling, counter-jungling. This would make jungling even more fun/fast paced. Another example of a fun quest idea would be ward planting, choosing a far location in the map to plant a ward first, given to both teams (or specific champions) at the same time. I can see quests appearing for individual champions based on their abilities, which could give an extra level/depth of gameplay.

==== EVENT SUGGESTIONS ====

  • Collect the Object: Everyone can collect the objects on the map that spawn randomly. The objects can be worth more points the closer they are to the enemy base. Objects should be seen on the minimap. Maybe different objects can be worth more points. To make this mini-event harder, the ground could become ice, so people slide all over the place collecting the object. Yes, this event idea is based on the W3 map Ice Sliders xD The amount of objects collected at the end can award that amount of gold to every champion on the team, or divide it among the team.

  • Bilgewater Brawl Throwback: Everyone gets to replace one minion with their chosen monster for one round, and whichever monster you've chosen, you have to either protect or destroy the opposing one.

  • Item Switch: Your items are randomly switched to the enemy's with the closest gold value. Killing an enemy adds their items to yours, or replaces the set you currently have. At the end of the event, your items are returned back to normal.

  • Extreme Speed: Everyone's movement speed is increased during this event and colliding with enemies deals damage. The longer the build up to the collision, the more damage.

I personally feel the biggest issue right now is that ranged champions that are On Fire are really hard to deal with/shut down. One solution to that could be increasing the amount of damage they take. I know it recently got increased to 35% from 25% but I think that is still too low considering how much safety high CDR gives to champs like Ziggs, Lux, Brand, etc

can Kayn not get locked out of the other transformation? or at least shorten it

Zubeda9/10/2018, 7:37:10 PM1 votes

Hey. We're only like 25-30 games into Nexus Blitz. But that is mostly because for some reason it keeps pairing me with diamond, plat or challenger players.

I am in NO WAY on par with them. It ends up being me apologizing at the start, and them swearing at me, being general twats and an all around bad experience for everyone, as I'm not able to improve as a bronze player, and they aren't having fun as a challenger player.

Pretty please with a Lulu cupcake on top fix the matching if this goes live.

Hi friends, Guess what?!?!?!!? It's time for another Nexus Blitz micropatch (Brand nerf)!

Today we're buffing some low performers in the tank and support space while taking another swipe at dominate mages (this time by hitting their MS)

Also removing a mechanic on mini-raptors where hitting them with AoE skills would deal bonus damage. Hope is that this will even out the jungle a bit more, allowing single target jungles to better keep up with their AoE opponents

CHAMPION BUFFS Bard Chime spawn rate increased

Nasus HP :: 560 >>> 620 AD/lvl :: 3.5 >>> 4 AS/lvl :: 3.5 >>> 4

Sejuani HP :: 560 >>> 620 Armor :: 31 >>> 36 MR :: 27 >>> 32

CHAMPION NERFS Lux Movement speed :: 330 >>> 325 HP/lvl :: 85 >>> 75

Brand Movement speed :: 340 >>> 330

MONSTER BUFF Raptors no longer take increased damage from area-effect abilities

Ok, so here are my feeling about the mode:

Cons:

  1. Map
  • in general imo it needs to be completely remade to have more paths, be 'tighter', have a nice fighting spaces(arenas) with multiple angles at which one can enter and 'lurk'
  • feels like there is too much space and the obstacles are too big (blue/herald 'pits'). Fighting around them feels like playing cat and mouse (or whatever you call it in english).
  • There's no nice pathing from jungle to lanes, jungle feels like a separate part of the map and game and either you are in the jungle and farm and are always late for teamfights (let me walk aroung that gigantic wall for 15 minutes before i reach the lane while everybody sees me coming from a kilometer) or you completely forget about jungle and go ham 5v5 (or 5v3 if the enemy junglers decide to farm it, then they loose game because of that)
  • Double jungle idea sounds fine - but it doesn't work, especially when your duo jungler says they wont jungle and go to lane
  • Lanes are too wide and too long(or short?) - they feel weird
  • Again, but in different words - jungle is just a place to farm, in SR while you farm jungle you can plan and make macro decisions by observing mini map - here you usually see your teammates fighting and feeling that 'you should be there' but by the time you can be there they are already dead or killed enemy making you waste your time walking in both cases
  1. Events
  • They are cool, but favoring loosing team is often BS (there should be no favoring any team at all)
  • 'Battle royales' should ALWAYS end in the same place, and they should reset map state (everyone is revived, fully healed, teleported to shop, have 10 sec for buy and then EVENTUALLY scattered around the map with automated TPs)
  • Rewards - those which change gameplay are awesome (that champion cannon is probably best idea there), those which are fired at random are hopeless, they are random and you cant play around them, most of the time random-blitz-grab was just annoying for me (noone around to kill me of this) and often they pulled me towards low enemy champ so I could kill them easily. Caitlyn blessing dmg is BS, but you know that.
  • Rewards 2 - zilean, janna, soraka are totally 0 fun - enemies are screwed by either of those, they have 0 interaction
  • Push the cart shouldn't have separate reward - it's free turret for winning side anyway
  1. others
  • champions are not designed for such gameplay therefore some feel way better than the other
  • bad map design makes the game 'just go hav 5v5 and better teamcomp wins', there's no room for fighting tactic (either fight is in complete plain terrain, like lane, or around giant obstacle, neither is fun)
  • junglers are like 'we play the same game but we start later and at level 3'
  • champions feel either equally bad or super-strong
  • win feels like formality, no laning phase makes matchups pointless
  • overall very little satisfaction

Pros:

  • fast paced, full of high moments - but not as satisfying as in SR (in SR winning some teamfights is really satisfying, specially when your team executed a tactic or simply because you set up the TF in your favor)
  • can pick really anything (for now, new mode no meta)
  • champion cannon! yay - single one best thing - changes the gameplay, range could be nerfed tho :)

My suggestion:

  • Change the map to be centered around big arena in the middle, maze of tight corridors with smaller arenas with objectives around it, alle champions lane and jungle simultaneously
  • make events change the gameplay
  • reward winning team with gold and not buff winning team with absurd giant shields/random sh1t that makes no sense (cait and blitz blessings are pointless imo)
  • altering the map over time could be nice for making a clear transition between laning/farming to teamfighting. If the map would be circular maze, walls could crumble over time (and as an effect of events) opening more paths for invading enemy part of the map and encouraging teams interactions

PS: I played Blitz only because I knew it would end fast andd definitevly, no risk of prolonged games, no tryharding to win when chances for comback are very small and require perfect execution as it is on SR right now, and thanks to that I could pick any champ and try to get a S-Chest

PS2: Ok, I had a little fun, I must admit, but playing it felt like 'let's just mash buttons and maybe I win, maybe not but who cares'
