Whenever I open the boards after turning on my pc for the first time, the whole screen darkens and i have to fix it in settings. What's weird is it doesnt change any settings, moving the brightness dial to the left 1 then right back still brightens the screen back to th eproper value. No other sites do this.
Many andrioid phones and some computers now have "dynamic brightness" which changes the brightness depending on what's on screen.
Not sure if this is what's affecting you but it's worth looking into.

It sounds like you have a fairly old monitor (I don't know of one, off hand, that has dials anymore). If that is true, what rujitra said may be automatically happening by virtue of the screen wearing out.
