I know it sounds selfish, but....

With recent mod departures (I wish them the best, and had no ill will towards anyone, mind you).......will there be another mod recruitment spree at some point?

YEEEESSSSS, I know, it sounds REALLY selfish, and I hate that it sounds that way, but I am curious. I've applied for moderator both times in the past, and got overlooked for someone better both times.....I guess. Not sure if it's because I simply have no real prior experience in moderating (I have some experience in leading an online community though), or if it's because I'm not a big enough presence on the Boards. I don't know.

I don't know if you guys are looking to fill some spots, but if you are...........consider me first in line. I may not have too much to bring to the table in terms of moderation experience, or technical skills.......but I have been here for quite awhile, and have watched these boards go through both good and bad times over the years. I may also not be the biggest name on here.......but some may consider that an advantage.

If there might be something I could possibly improve on to possibly be considered.....let me know, and I'll do my best at doing just that.

You should really think about that twice. Moderation on boards is a very ungrateful job. You get shit on by an angry part of the community, get literally no support by Riot ever and you aren't even provided the tech to do what you should be doing in many cases. On top of that, the board rules are just bad so you can't even do too much in terms of preventing toxicity, instead you may end up being spammed with thread reports even though you are not allowed to remove toxic posts due to the boards TOU.

I don't really know when/if we're looking to expand the team at this precise moment, but there will be a post up when we do. It's something that comes in waves, as moderator burnout or changing life priorities happen.

As for what we're looking for? Some of it includes a good ability to work with a team, an understanding of the community, the ability to moderate rules even if you don't fully agree with them, and a strong level of empathy for the community you're moderating. Really, though, there are tons of factors that may or may not make someone a good moderator, but our initial round of picks for interviews is typically aimed at those who show a passion for the community, good ideas of their own relative strengths and weaknesses, and seem like they'd be a potentially good fit for the team.
