Rioters missunderstanding

MuteAllFromStart··1 votes·4,167 views

Hello. I posted a thread not that long ago. People asked for information and I provided information. With this information it was misread and mistreated in the worst way. Example: If Im hot and thirsty, I walk up to a lemonade stand and want to buy a drink from a child selling them... I hand over the money ,get the drink and say thank you... From this action alone Im being called a %%%% and people make claims I was flirting with the child <-

This is like the worst case scenario and to me only a really dark-sinned person would think like this... but this is also the way rioters think about thier players.

Real example: I ask for someone age. I do this so I can put myself at about the same level as the person I talk to. ( I used to work with kids in schools and could not talk to them as if they were adults, if I did they would be very upset) But in the mind of riot Im asking for someones age to put them down, to tell them Im superior etc... Hence the example above.

How did this happen? What happen within riot that their employees now thinks like this about their players/customers?

I beleive this is a major reason as to why RIOT-Games lost about 20% of their playerbase each and every year since 2014 <- A toxic company will make toxic players.

Asking for someones age can be personal. Asking for someones age also needs context for it to be appropriate, for example when applying for certain job. So keep in mind that it can be offensive when asking for someones age and jts just best to avoid it unless its someone your close with and sometimes that has its own time and place for asking.

Hello and welcome to the thread! I have heard that argument before, that it is personal. I have heard that if they tell me their age they are afraid I will hack them. To make it easy: there are 8 billion people in the world. Meaning that if you are 15 years ago, there are about 150.000.000 - 200.000.000 other people in the world of the same age... its not that personal. <-

No it doesnt need context to be approrpiate, its important that we dont label anyone we just meet as evil <- We should be openminded and if someone asks me a quesiton my first thought shouldnt be that "He asks me this cause he wants to harass me" <- My first thought should be "He asks me this because he needs this information for something" <- And then I can ask him what he needs the inforamtion for... to label him before asking him is rather destructive beahvior.

No Im not offensive just because I ask a questions <- Why would you think I am?

I find it strange.. when I was brought up in the country of Sweden we actually had tv-shows on government media that said "THere are not stupid quesitons" <- encouraging an entire country to ask quesitons so that we can understand... We are an understanding people (generally) ... so how can we differ so much and how can you think questions have evil intentions?

I think your getting the wrong idea or rather your not really getting it because to you its not a big deal. So speaking for the person thats being asked, i dont think the first thing that comes to their mind is "oh no his going to hack me with my age info". First off, if they can hack, im sure its easy for hackers to get your info and age easily but thats irrelevant. Second, having or using numbers base on the common info such as age does not determine if they are personal or not. Ask someone or anybody if having the same age as lot of people makes their age not a personal info to them. You find out that majority of people are not gonna care about other people having the same age as them, its still gonna be personal info.

I dont personally think that asking me for my age is going to make me think that your a "evil person" and i am pretty sure thats the last thing they think about. First thing that would come to my mind is why you would want my age and yes context matters because that wouldnt have been my first thought if you were to ask me that in a job interview. You knowing this, its better that you let the person know your intent. You mention being open minded, well, maybe you should try that and understand where the other side is coming from, especialy as something as asking for their age to a complete stranger.

I dont think i said you were offensive, im pretty sure i said asking for peoples age without context can be offensive.

Well I have been suspended and yelled at by riot for this "Not a big deal" to you. And I understand the personality typ that doesnt care when others get hurt or mistreated, there are people like that all over the world.

Well it happens and you know how I know? cause I talk to people, I allow them to explain themselves and I have had that explanation, that he was afirad I would hack him just from knowing his age.

"First off, if they can hack, im sure its easy for hackers to get your info and age easily but thats irrelevant. " <- Yes it is, yet you bring it up.

"Second, having or using numbers base on the common info such as age does not determine if they are personal or not" <- Noone even made that claim, so you are arguing vs noone atm.

"Ask someone or anybody if having the same age as lot of people makes their age not a personal info to them." <- Again, you are arguing vs noone here and against a point I never maid, if you dont understand the points Im trying to make, let me know and I try to clarify them for you.

"You find out that majority of people are not gonna care about other people having the same age as them, its still gonna be personal info." <- Again, noone made a counterargument to this, you are once again arguing vs arguments that never has been presented... You are also giving me useless information that is not based on anything that I have written here.

"I dont personally think that asking me for my age is going to make me think that your a "evil person" and i am pretty sure thats the last thing they think about" <- Yet RIOT-Games deem to ask someones age as "harassment" <- Its good that you let them know that you dont think it is, I dont think it is neither... so yay we can agree on something.

"First thing that would come to my mind is why you would want my age and yes context matters because that wouldnt have been my first thought if you were to ask me that in a job interview. " <- Then allow yourself to ask the question "Why do you want to know my age?" and allow me to explain why I would like to know your age... communiation is a wonderful thing if done right.

"You knowing this, its better that you let the person know your intent. " <- Not really, I have tried this method and it doesnt work.. people just think Im behaving really weird and wants to cooperate less with me if I put all the cards on the table at once. Hence why you talk to someone and build up a relationship and trust with that person. Look at the president of US, he was honest and let everyone know his intetnions, how did that go? Slander more slander and even more slander <-

"You mention being open minded, well, maybe you should try that and understand where the other side is coming from," <- this is really hard when the part that isnt me doesnt want to talk to me and doesnt want to explain nor answer questions... I cant do all job and I shouldnt have to to do all the job. Maybe you and others should try to be more openminded and understand my side, you know.. empathy about how I have been lied to by riot games, how riot games did slander me and have banned more then 5000hours of ingame time... Together with skins worth xxx dollars <- But this is not what its about, I have to clairfy this or else someone will come in here and this that this is what its about... again its not.

"especialy as something as asking for their age to a complete stranger." <- But that goes 2 ways, maybe you missed that? To think that "He is asking my age because he wants to harass me" is rather negative thinking and not very productive nor humanitarian.

"I dont think i said you were offensive, im pretty sure i said asking for peoples age without context can be offensive." But riot games did, no its only offensive if you think its offensive, just like if you greet me with "hello" I can take offense to that too, doesnt mean its offensive nor offensive in its nature.

Oh my god... your gonna make me seriously do this because of your lack of ability to retain the information for what you said and how that ties to my response. I am going to make this as easy as i can for you so that you can understand where all my responses are coming from. Here we go:

[1]

Your statement: "I have heard that if they tell me their age they are afraid I will hack them." My response: "First off, if they can hack, im sure its easy for hackers to get your info and age easily but thats irrelevant." Your response: "Yes it is, yet you bring it up."

yes i mentioned it because YOU brought it up

[2]

Your statement: "To make it easy: there are 8 billion people in the world. Meaning that if you are 15 years ago, there are about 150.000.000 - 200.000.000 other people in the world of the same age... its not that personal." My response 1: "Second, having or using numbers base on the common info such as age does not determine if they are personal or not" My response 2: "Ask someone or anybody if having the same age as lot of people makes their age not a personal info to them." Your response 1: "Noone even made that claim, so you are arguing vs noone atm" Your response 2: "Again, noone made a counterargument to this, you are once again arguing vs arguments that never has been presented... You are also giving me useless information that is not based on anything that I have written here"

You made that claim, i am arguing against you, nobody else. Its base on information that you WROTE.

[3]

Your statement: "No it doesnt need context to be approrpiate, its important that we dont label anyone we just meet as evil <- We should be openminded and if someone asks me a quesiton my first thought shouldnt be that "He asks me this cause he wants to harass me" - My first thought should be "He asks me this because he needs this information for something" <- And then I can ask him what he needs the inforamtion for... to label him before asking him is rather destructive beahvior." My response: "I dont personally think that asking me for my age is going to make me think that your a "evil person" and i am pretty sure thats the last thing they think about" Your response: "Its good that you let them know that you dont think it is, I dont think it is neither... so yay we can agree on something"

The point i was making here is that nobody they just met is going to think that they are evil unless you are obviously showing some sort of signs.

[4]

My comment: "_First thing that would come to my mind is why you would want my age and yes context matters because that wouldnt have been my first thought if you were to ask me that in a job interview. _" Your response: "Then allow yourself to ask the question "Why do you want to know my age?" and allow me to explain why I would like to know your age... communiation is a wonderful thing if done right."

You just completely forgot the whole point you were making for your self and the main argument that i was making. I dont even know where to begin with this one without going back to the start. LIke im just not gonna bother because i would have to go back to the beginning.

[5]

My comment: "You knowing this, its better that you let the person know your intent. " Your response: "Not really, I have tried this method and it doesnt work.. people just think Im behaving really weird and wants to cooperate less with me if I put all the cards on the table at once."

You having to go around about way is behaving more WERID than being straight with the person your talking to. People would be more comfortable if you were to ask like this, "If you dont mind, i would like to get your age or general idea in order for me to get a better perspective and understanding of where you might be coming from". Do you see what i did there? I asked politely, and i also let the person know the reasons for why i would like to know their age. Your method of going about asking strangers for their age without context or good reason, will be for the most part, offensive. It is untactful and insulting because you want to put yourself in the "same level" as them as if your insulting their intelligence as well as making your self out to be in the superior position. You said communication is a wonderful thing, yes you right so USE IT PROPERLY.

[6]

My comment: "You mention being open minded, well, maybe you should try that and understand where the other side is coming from," Your response: "this is really hard when the part that isnt me doesnt want to talk to me and doesnt want to explain nor answer questions... I cant do all job and I shouldnt have to to do all the job."

**I dont even know if your capable of being open minded at this point. I understood you loud and clear so you dont need to bother explaining your self. In fact i am the one thats doing all the job making this easier for you to understand. If your not even able to follow remotely what i have laid out here for you, than please go read some more book to help increase your level of comprehension. **

With that in mind your approach needs to change base on who you talk to and the context of the situation.

My comment: "I dont think i said you were offensive, im pretty sure i said asking for peoples age without context can be offensive." Your response: "But riot games did, no its only offensive if you think its offensive, just like if you greet me with "hello" I can take offense to that too, doesnt mean its offensive nor offensive in its nature."

Where do i begin, my GAWD. Actually im done.

Somehow i feel i gotten more stupid by the end of this. This has been a mental drain with lot of patients and restraints. I dont care at this point if you were able to follow any of what i have just explained. If you got it, great! If you didnt than forget about it and move on with your daily life. Continue to think that you are open minded and you didnt deserve the punishment you were given. I'm not even gonna reply to this thread anymore. Take care.

Okey, so everything I mention you will bring up? I believe I have been speaking about dogs previously, why dont you comment on that as well?

The information given to me is useless and doesnt bring anything to the conversation nor thread, it doesnt answer any questions that has been posted in this thread... Its simply a useless comment on one of my comments that I used to point out the fact that asking for someones age is not harassment and I can barly do anything with the information aobut your age. Especially hack someone from that information. <- To me it looks like you missed this point completly and started to comment on the points I was trying to make, just to comment on the points I was trying to make... if it was because you missed the point or trying to make others miss the point, I dont know.. only you knows this.

You made that claim, i am arguing against you, nobody else. Its base on information that you WROTE.

Here is where you are dead wrong. You are afraid to have your personal information shared because you are afraid you get harmed physically, econoically or metnally. I can believe that the colors on my socks is personal information but the matter of the fact is that I wont make less money doing my job depending on the color of my socks... However I can get fired from my job if they found out the personal information that I do drugs (I dont, this is an example trying to explain the point I was previously making) <- I have to clarify this because if I dont people will think its reality even though this is very obvious that Im making a point.

So again. You are afraid Im going to hack you if I know your age... but that is impossible, making your fears not only irrelevant, its makes them phobias.

If I tell you I share the same salery as 30.000 people on this planet <- You still dont know my salery and cant use that information against me. Its "personal" information, yet it isnt.

"Personal information is information or an opinion, including information or an opinion forming part of a database, whether true or not, and whether recorded in a material form or not, about an individual whose identity is apparent, or can reasonably be ascertained, from the information or opinion."

No I didnt make the claim, so that is a none-truth you told there.

This is you: "Ask someone or anybody if having the same age as lot of people makes their age not a personal info to them."

This is bad rhetoric (its a term, not an opinion, you can look it up). Again: If you say hello to me, its you greeting me... but if I interpet that as you being rude to me, then I feel harassed... it doesnt mean that you in fact harassed me.

Im well aware that there are billions of people with billions of opinions on billions different things on this planet, this is nothing new what so ever to anyone. Once upon a time majority thought that the earth was flat and they were all wrong... people still think the earth is flat and they are still wrong.

To argue about someones opinions based on feelings and not facts is not helpful for anyone <- Try to understand this.

No here you are dead wrong again. I have in fact been targeted, slandered etc based on nothing but peoples saying. Even less then that. Just because of the way I looks (I have a beard) People have had ideas about who am I and what I believe in. This is called steriotyping <- You need to understand that this exist, racism also exist. Its very well documented and to ignore that is just... idk, I cant really put words on it because then I get banned... But you should ask someone IRL about it and they can tell you all about racism and what they think about people who think racism doesnt exist.

Okey, its once again very important that you undertand that there are billions of people living on this planet, we are expressing ourselves in billions different ways. Noone communicates like me and noone communicates like you... In this case and cases like this (and regarding context) we are on LOL, if I were to "AFK" to post this msg:"If you dont mind, i would like to get your age or general idea in order for me to get a better perspective and understanding of where you might be coming from" <- people would start flaming me (I know cause I have this experience where people, as soon as they see my champion standing still start telling me "HE IS TYPING AGAIN!") <- This happen more then once. ALso, people dont want to read that amount of text in game nor does we really have time to have such communication, its lol fast pace moba game <- You understand this? "Age?" <- is much faster and the response "16" <- is better then "My age according to the human counting and the revolutions of the earth around the sun...." <- This takes too long time and noone wants to read it, fast and efficiant communiaiton is whats best for lol and taht is what players gerneally wants.

Its nice and neat when you can take apart things and only focus on the stuff that you like... like for example you get a bag of candy, different candies but you only like certain types of candies... its really good that you can only eat those and ignore the rest... just like you did to my entire response that you find here and I believe you should read the entire thing, not just parts of it: <- this is really hard when the part that isnt me doesnt want to talk to me and doesnt want to explain nor answer questions... I find it interesting and also proof that you are allowed to make a comment like that: "Do you even understand what your saying? It doesnt go two ways, what are you smoking, God Bless Your Heart" <- But if I did it I would actually get banned... and it actually happen. What about that golden rule? You are a person who have been favorited by moderators here <- be happy about that... and I can see that due to the way you argue, very bias and leaves out vital information, taking things out of context and missing points.

Ahh, you talk about empathy? <- You know, the ability to allow yourself to feel feellings other people feel? You know, if your friend is sad, you can be sad with him and for him. If a friend is angry, you can also show ander and feel his anger. <- Stuff like this... this is what you are talking about?

Its funny, cause a lot of people tell me what you just said, but you once again miss that it goes 2 ways, where is the empathy for me and the bad treatment I have revieved? <- Like being people not being truthful towards me , missunderstanding me and labeling me? ... Again, it goes 2 ways. Kinda hard to take someone serious who argues empathy for 1 side only.

I dont know what actions you are talking about... I made a thread here: https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/player-behavior-moderation/VFqfwj3b-riot-vs-understanding?show=flat&page=2 where one of your co-workers stated that when I ask for someones age its because I want to harass them <- But like I explain here in this thread, that is not the case at all and I ask you and other peopel related to riot how you can think that way in general and about your fellow summoners? <-

I've read your chat logs from that thread and, if the Tribunal were still in place, I would have voted to punish. If I had been in that match with you, I would have reported you. I say these things because you spent entirely too much time picking at people and trying to tell them what to do.

In your future matches, if you can't speak to others in positive, constructive and respectful way, then you should just refrain from using chat. You should also never ask people their age during a match; you're either being super-creepy or it's an obvious lead in to an ad hominem.

And why are you telling me this? Is it on this topic: Rioters missunderstanding ?

If these were my forums I would have warned you for being offtpic. I would have gotten rid of everyone who is not contributing to these forums. I would have got rid of everyone who are lying and with bad intentions <- Why am I telling you this?

That was not clear at all and I never said such this, you made this up all by yourself in your own mind. Feel free to show me and everyone where I claim that Im not looking for advice or a genuine discussion. To my understanding I have answered every qeuestion and cooperated while you have not answered a single of my question... and now trying to speak for me <-

I'm not seeing an action of this type on the account you're posting from. Are you discussing an action on another account or perhaps in another region?

Also, why did you pinn your comment?
