With the addition of Gameplay+, are there any plans to improve the regular Gameplay board?

Part of the problem is that Gameplay as a community doesn't seem to be especially good at self-moderating.

That's what moderation staff is for. Yet, nothing is really done by moderation to solve the issues described:

Lets be honest, the Gameplay board is completely overrun with super low quality threads, insane amounts of duplicate posts, extreme hostility, flat out witch hunts, bold faced lies disguised as "hyperbole", and circlejerk farms that downvote even rational discussion into oblivion.

Speaking only for myself, we are aware of the concerns regarding Gameplay and we share some of them, but it G+ wasn't created as a new space solely for the purpose of letting the old board fester and rot. We remain committed to properly moderating Gameplay, but you have to admit it's a very daunting task.

Player Behavior had the benefit of a long-standing community (the old TBI) where average people volunteered to help keep things running. PB is still messy and people will always complain like crazy, but it's far better than it could have been and it remains my favorite place on the Boards.

If I had one wish for Gameplay, it would be for the old-timers to shift to being mentors rather than critics. I see a lot of threads that devolve down to "You're just WRONG" and while that may be true, it doesn't really help anything.

Calling the task daunting and saying you wish the community moderated itself sounds a lot like leaving Gameplay to fester and rot, whether you mean to or not.

Toxic people blame the game instead of their own mistakes and post what AirKingNeo complained about on Gameplay. The moderation of that section just has to take that into account or else be overwhelmed by such content and then stymied by claims of ‘hyperbole’ or ‘passion’ or ‘mistakes’ whenever attempts are made to remove it.

We should start bringing rules like those of Gameplay+ to Gameplay. They will need adjustments to accommodate the volume of threads and comments there. However, since penalties can be temporary and posting is a privilege, these adjustments can be aimed at eliminating whole categories of behavior and poster rather than finely picking out exceptional violations.

Require all new Gameplay threads to be reviewed by moderation before posting. -Warn posters who fail moderation review twice within a short period that you will temporarily ban them from submitting threads to Gameplay if they fail again. -This review will remove toxic topics from the Board, changing its overall tone and discouraging players who seek them from coming.

Require constructive comments. -Add a “non-constructive” option to the Report feature and remove comments that are not. Read the boards, especially the first few and top few comments, to find ones not yet reported. -Immediately warm non-constructive posters that you will temporarily ban them from Gameplay if they post another such comment and permanently ban them from the section if they post one more after their restriction.

Review User Post History -When reviewing a comment, if you find that the comment was a violation, check the user’s comment history for other violations or a trend of sub-threshold behavior. Issue temporary bans if other violations exist and warnings that trends of bad-but-not-bad-enough behavior will color your view of any future reports of their threads or comments. -This approach eliminates posters who have patterns of rule-breaking behavior or of writing just within the limits and only occasionally stepping over them, when they think they might get away with it.

With all due respect, there has to be a limit. I am aware that Gameplay may never be the highest quality, but it's all the point where I can literally say "0/4 Zed oneshot me with a single auto" and it will reach the front page and anyone who disagrees gets downvoted into the dirt. Something needs to be done. I want to help but I was not selected during any of the recruitments.

You assume that anyone would listen to us old-timers. I can't mentor people that don't want to listen to anything that goes against what they choose to believe.

I tell someone to calm down and they say, "NO! The time for calm talk is gone because Riot hasn't listened to us, we need to be rude and whinny or else they won't listen to us!" Mods at least have the threat of real action being taken against these people but me and other veterans pose no threat to them and so they can and WILL choose to ignore us or be outright hostile to us.

All I can do right now is make snarky one liners because they're my only way of protesting the current stupidity of the boards without being downvoted into hell or having someone scream at me.
