I don't understand why boards was designed to be just another Reddit.
Seriously, the whole "Hot" section, and upvote/downvote is so stupid. It's part of the reason Reddit (in general) is known for being so circlejerky - its easy to drown out the unpopular opinions.
Versus a normal forums, where the most discussed topics - and most likely the most controversial, are the ones that are bumped to the top. And the only way to bump a discussion is by adding something to it (i.e. posting), not just hitting an upvote button after reading the title. Not to say people didn't just post "I agree" after reading a title, or "bump" their own threads - but stuff like that could be moderated.
It's not like "forums are a place to have discussions about the game", while Reddit is for fanboying and memeing - now it feels like boards just Reddit, but worse.
It literally depends on who sees your topic first - to decide whether or not you ever even get to be seen by the majority of board's users.
I.e. if I make a post called "Wukong is OP", and the only person viewing the section at the time is a Garen main and a Wukong main, suddenly I start off with -1 and I'm done. However, if suddenly 2 ADC mains were viewing it instead, suddenly I'm at +3 and am now in the "Hot section" and will actually get views/upvotes.
