Do some research.
Spell shields like Sivir's have the ability to block spells or certain auto-attack modifiers. The shield has the ability to block multiple times IF the shield is hit with multiple spells within a certain time of each other. Renekton's W, Sona passive, and Udyr's bear stance all can be blocked. Others like Nasus or Jax can't be blocked by spell shield. So what is happening is NOT invulnerability, but rather the Sona is casting her Q and passive auto in such a time span that both effects are blocked.
I learned about this from a friend back in season 1.
