Huge FPS drops this patch

Ok, so, people might say "oh you have a toaster", but here are my specs:

MSI 1070 Gaming X 7700k Intel 144hz monitor 16GB RAM Yeah, needless to say I shouldn't be getting ~10-84 FPS with my setup. Prior to this patch everything functioned perfectly fine, but I fear that the optimization of this game was tampered with this patch (8.7).

Please look into this because this is not normal, and it makes the game near impossible for me to play since my monitor experiences screen tearing if my game drops below 120-144 FPS.

Remember when you can be a toaster and still run the game on high end setting, which continued to be the case well after the map update into the current map graphics? My PC remembers.

But then at some point Riot just simply gave up optimising the game, it would seem.

While I don't think other people really care about toasters, but I really do, given I am using one, and Riot also did care. And it really hurts when I look back at me playing the game on high end settings with my toaster even after map update, but somehow over time after that my setting was required to be toned down bit by bit with every few patches, to the recent stages where I get only 40-60fps on lowest settings, and now at the dawn of this patch I've arrived at a point I get only 20fps even on the lowest setting.

It is agonising.

One of LoL's biggest features has always been just how supremely optimised the game is, that no matter how shitty your computer is you can play the game with at least medium setting. Not so much now, and it sucks.

But ayyyyyyyyyyyyyy screw me amiright?

Same thing here.. Of course RIOT doesn't think it is on their end. Their first bit of troubleshooting is run a clean boot and only run league.. Sort of stupid if you ask me.. Running a 6gbddr5 vid card, 16gb ram, 4 core 3.2ghz quad core, running on an ssd hard drive, I should be able to run league while running other things in the background.. But before the most recent patch or prior (think was most recent though) I was able to run at max settings w/ no frame rate issues. Since the patch, I have had the game just die during teamfights (dropping 2-4fps) which makes things completely unplayable. It has been fine of late but out of the blue, it happens. I'm used to getting 80-100fps+ w/ things maxed..

Been experiencing the same. It seems league's consuming more memory as of now? How can this happen so often with each new patch, lol.

BUMP! +1111 - This is sooo annoying on another level pre this patch I would get around 150-160 fps mid-late game and in practice with no spawns would get around 240-300 - Now 8.7 has come and on practice tool Im not getting more than 130 which is a joke and in-game my fps is dropping to 80 at some points. What a joke from RIOT this is not the first time this has happened either.

My FPS also dropped. I used to start a game with 100-200 now i start a game with 80-90.... WTF and that was only in a practice mode

Same here, my first game today was almost unplayable because my FPS started dropping since the very beginning of the game.

It's a common issue for me (and Riot knows) but this patch everything got worse. Let's hope that, unlike the 7.22 drops that I'm still experiencing, they'll fix these asap.

I'm having the same issue. My FPS is used to be 250 at the start of the game, and at least 160 during laning phase. Now i'ts 160 at the start of the game and 100 during the laning phase. I was worried that it's the new Irelia VGU that's causing the problem but it's the same with Shen. Riot needs to fix this because it's ridiculous.

Yeah me too, before the patch 8.7 everything was fine, since this patch the loading of my games is very long and I hard lag in game, I'm really disappointed !

Its realy weird for me. once I had realy high fps in season 6 and 7 my game lagged once i droped under 100. but now my fps is mainly 100 or lower this patch and it only lags when I drop under 60 wtf riot xD. so people with mainly 60 fps only start lagging at 25 fps, people with 144 or higher fps start lagging at 60-70 fps....what???If you watch tobias fate, once in season 6 and 7 he had stable 144 fps and not lower than 100 but end season 7 it got worse and for many people here as well. Riot ''just'' skip some skins and balance patches and try to make the game more stable in performance.Its curious that every patch my fps gets lowered by 20 fps. There is no reason to have fps issues for me with a: GTX 1060 3GB AMD FX-6300 16GB RAM

In the last 5 months of patches I've gone from 200 fps on high settings at all stages of the game to eventually maintaining 120-140 (which was annoying but w/e), to this patch, where I'm getting 80-100fps after minion spawn regardless of driver/game settings. Of course that's not unplayable but anything under 120fps input starts to feel less responsive to me.

Also, for the last 2 patches prior to this one I've been having random hard locks once per game that last about a second. Somewhere between 14m to 20m into the game with no obvious trigger. In spectator it is easily reproducible as it will always happen at the same point in the game if you rewind, so it's not a heat/hardware issue. Reinstalling the game fixes neither issue.

The performance has been getting worse and worse ever since preseason hit so I don't know what in hell Riot is doing especially since they claim they want their game to be well optimized so everyone can play it

My FPS was plummeting today as well. Usually I'm in the 60-150 FPS range (yeah, not the best computer), but I was consistently dropping below 30 FPS and ended up playing with League client shut down as well as all other apps (so only League was open) to get back to 60 FPS. Hopefully Riot notices this.

Hi, I collected all the information around the FPS-problem and made a huge thread, to provide as much information as possible, please post there so we have one place where Riot Games can respond and deal with us having the problem. Also an riot employee on reddit confirmed that they release a fix in the 1-2 days to fix this. The links to those comments are also in the thread.

Whats bothering me is that, unless they completely ignore the forums, they have yet to comment to even address the fact many people are experiencing the same issue. It's literally unplayable Riot, no issues prior to this last patch. Acknowledge your supporters please.

I haven't had any such problems myself, but my brother-in-law definitely had inexplicable FPS issues when we were duoing last night. I wondered if it was due to the new patch.

Same here. I do not have extremely PC: i5 6300U, Intel 520 (graphic integrated), 8GB RAM but before that patch I had stable 60frames/s in FHD + High Details in game + AA... now game speed droping sometimes to even 30fr/s.

Funniest thing is that in client - game working slower that in game (in match).

i cant use my fullscreen anymore if i use i get like 20-30 fps usually i always had fullscreen with 120fps after this update i just cant use it anymore.... help please

JUST AN UPDATE *

from the 07/0418 - FPS issues have been rectified slightly and (my) fps has stabled a little!

Been having this issue for awhile now. I have 26 ping and 120+ fps but champs slide and abilities and such lag behind. Not sure if it's something with windows since MS has fucked up a lot with Win 10 or if it's something from a league patch....or even both.

I just starter getting this issue too. I am on a laptop however, my specs are: i7-6700HQ , 16GB ram and a 950m GTX card. I was getting around 100 - 140 on max settings and now a Brand ult alone drops my frames below 10 making that game unplayable. Thought my card was going out glad im not the only one.

Yea and for me it seems the longer or more consecutive games I play the worse it gets.

I play with vsync on and used to get solid 60 fps unwavering with a way older graphics card. I upgraded all my equipment too.. I'm even running a 1060 gtx. From what I can tell it's an issue that is coming about from leagues interaction with windows. Graphics card usage is no where near maxing out, but frames and frame drops increasingly get more unstable.

Pubg seems to have similar issues...it could be related to how games are working with the new windows...maybe windows is doing it on purpose to promote graphics card and pc upgrade sales lol idk but something with either new league updates, or new windows 10 is causing this problem

I have a windows 7 ibuypower desktop and since patch 8.12 i get 2 fps when i get into the game if its not remade by the time i eventually get in. Does anyone know if riot is going to fix this issue by 8.13? if there are any riot staff here please help.

Same goes for me , using the gtx 1070 , i get random fps drops on 48fps and it stays there until you Alt + tab out of the game window and alt + tab back into it :D i mean its just disgustingly stupid

This is utter nonsense. I haven't played ranked in 4-5 patches since this started happening. One random update and boom! my fps on a gtx1060 with 8th gen i7, 6gb vram ddr5 and 16gb ram is a whopping 30! Sometimes it's 60 before minions spawn then 20-30fps during gameplay. Before this random shit I got 120-160 fps after minions spawn and 240+ before. I've searched for a solution and found nada. All my other games are fine like Fortine for example I still get 90fps on ultra settings. I actually recently reset my PC entirely (factory) and re-installed league. Only so it works one custom game and next it's back to shit. Clearly Riot dgaf so rant over lol.

Nice so 9 months later THEY STILL DIDN'T FIX THE FUCKING PROBLEM. and it seems like it's getting worse every patch, wtf is wrong with these Bastards I used to get 300-500 fps with my gigabyte 980ti, now in team fight my fps drops to 80 fucking fps, unplayable for me since I am using a 144hz monitor, that's really fucking dumb god dammit
