Forced to Dodge

I was last pick in a Normals game and i locked in, but the button went gray after i clicked it and the timer was still ticking. Afterwards it said i'd disconnected, then i reconnected and it gave me error messages for not being able to set my Runes, Summoner Spells and also, it wouldn't let me lock in, no matter how hard i tried. I was stuck in champ select for about 5 minutes not able to do anything(i didn't want to dodge and i wasn't about to let the game tell me i have to.) but i gave up and left. The weird thing is that it said in the chat box that everyone else had left and reconnected as well, what happened?
