Favourite "Off Meta" Champs

template Top- why Mid- why Jg- why Supp- why ADC- why

Pretty simple! :D Do not feel obliged to fill in all 5 roles if you're unsure of 1-2 of them.

Example, for me.

Support Anivia - much better mana balance with the current mana reg. nerfs. Good burst for your ADC, cc, and walls to secure kills. or Support Singed - doesn't work all the time, but against blitz, thresh or hard engages, he prevents them. When you ADC wants to engage, you just summoner 6 , Q and fling. Must be really selective about engages, though!

I'm simply wondering everyone's fave "off meta" champs! Have fun!

Mid Alistar.

His ap ratios aren't quite as bad as everyone believes, and he's pretty decent against popular picks. He can spam heal to shrug off harass, counter all ins with his ultimate / displacements, and my favorite, the geography of mid lane does not protect your opponent. He is also pretty safe from ganks, and he roams well. My last game, I went 3/0 against a Fizz and I managed to roam top and bot, contributing to three kills and getting another myself.

This is all at a low gold elo, though. I'm currently 3-1 in ranked with mid Alistar.

Varus AP Varus solo mid, since his Blighted Quiver can offer quite a bit of low-mana burst. With the old DFG, he could pretty well one-shot his target. The big downsides are, of course, poor roaming, the ease of killing his squisy, immobile marksman frame, and that his combo takes enough time to set up that he can be bursted down without doing significant damage.

Cassiopeia (A.K.A. AP Urgot) Cassiopeia support is a lot of fun if your ADC knows what to do with her. I'm a support main and wanted an excuse to play my favorite mid laner (I picked her up essentially the week after her rework was released), so I took her support. She does well with an ADC who has some CC of their own, like Jinx. As long as your opponent can't engage on you, her constant harassment can zone out the ADC pretty hard while building passive stacks. Now that the passive scales with time rather than CS, she will still gain stacks in time to be a relevant threat late game, and a Frostfang keeps her from falling too far behind in gold. If your jungler ganks well and often, an ADC/Cass lane can snowball very hard and be unstoppable come mid game. The big downside is, of course, her lack of proper utility. You should take her with another major CC source on the team. Not exactly a solo queue pick.

Urgot Urgot anywhere. I love Urgot, and used to play essentially nothing but him before team builder came out and cemented my place in bot lane. Urgot can go anywhere if you are brave enough, but I mostly play him top, like most other Urgot players.

I've been looking at Anivia, since she's on free week and I've played her on ARAM. I will have to try her as a support some time.

Top: Poppy Poppy. Because hyper-carry top lanes are really, really strong in the 'wet noodle' meta. She is very strong against pure tanks due to %max hp damage on Q on a short cooldown, and if it turns into a farm lane she scales absurdly hard. She also has a good kit for farming under tower if she needs to and does brutal burst damage for ganks. Honorable mention is any Marksman, because they can bully melees so hard and free farm.

Mid: Pantheon Pantheon. Who bursts harder pre-6 than any of the mages that are played mid? Pantheon does. Who harasses harder? Pantheon does. Who can man-drop into any lane for a brutal gank? Pantheon. Who snowballs stupidly hard when they get fed? Pantheon. Also, he is the most manly of all champions.

Jungle: Chogath The meta is all over the place. Ranged jungles were awesome for a bit there, but not as strong any more. Nidalee was off-meta until last week when she became FotM. I guess Cho'Gath jungle, which isn't super off meta, but is really strong. He can full clear first rotation super easy. He has strong CC and strong burst. Depending on the needs of the game he can run Magus, Juggernaut, or even Devourer. Good and tanky, good damage, Feast is amazing for securing objectives. His ganks are passable. I like him.

Marksman: Ahri Ahri. If you haven't played AD Ahri yet, you are missing something glorious. Build her like Ezreal, Manamune-Trinity style. She lacks AD ratios, yeah, but look at her kit... Q is now a huge movespeed buff which is always amazing on Marksmen, it has true damage to help make up for the lack of scaling early game, and gives her great early to mid game wave clear. W is a one point wonder: It is cheap to cast, and procs Muramana THREE TIMES because each Foxfire is counted as a single target spell. E is a long range long duration crowd control spell, which is unheard of on a Marksman and it procs Muramana. R is obviously super strong on a Marksman, because hyper-mobility is the most OP thing possible on a marksman. Add to that her passive, which gives her lane sustain and the new changes to up all her base damages and you have a brutally strong marksman.

Support: Gangplank Gangplank. But only in an AD heavy or auto attack heavy composition. E max and rush a Zekes. 25 minute team fight? E+Zekes gives everyone on your team: 40 AD, 10% movespeed, 10% Lifesteal. To put that into perspective, lets look at gold value numbers: Only counting the stats you give to your allies, not including stats given to yourself, those two items combine to give your four team mates a total of: 5760 gold worth of attack damage, 2200 gold worth of Lifesteal, and 1580 worth of %movespeed. So, on just your allies you are adding 9540 gold worth of stats. You know what a 9540 gold advantage looks like in a team fight? Yeah, exactly.

Top: Urgot even though he is a marksman, he is a desaster as ADC bot, but he does incredible great as a bruiser up top. Mid: Soraka This one is really strange, but she actually counters Assassin (long range, silence, insane sustain) Jungle: Poppy her early game weaknesses don't matter in the Jungle at all and tower immunity makes for crazy ganks. Assist: Warwick Tank with AS buff, some vision, CC and mad harass. ADC: Kayle Build in Penetration and hybrid damage, harder to kill than others, no steroids, fullpower at all times.

Zac Top- Never underestimate the giant blob of glue, 3 levels in Q does severe damage.

Leona Mid- Full AP leona hurts like a frikkin truck

Twitch Jg- I feel like He has better level two ganks over Jarvan

Pantheon Supp- My First champion in the supporting role, item 3303 + Q = $$$

Caitlyn adc- range op (yes I understand its completely meta, but I don't play adc much sooooo...

Hey, um, the word 'meta' describes the solo top/solo jungle/solo mid/duo bot setup. What you're actually describing is just uncommon, or 'oddball' picks.

Mid-blitz Blitzcrank

If you build full ap Aka ludens Echo, deathcap, item 3157 boots of lucidity, then more situational ap like void staff or abyssal scepter.

Pull the fool into your turret knock em up. First blood or burn their flash

Master Yi mid.

Having the ability to completely negate Assassin or Mage abilities through his Alpha Strike to give me this gigantic defensive advantage in the matchup while still being straight up stronger in raw firepower compared to a fair number of mid laners is always nice to have.

Nautilus Support - This guy can be such a lane bully if he has somebody to follow up on his loads of CC. Good damage with poor scaling means he doesn't need any items (or much gold) to hit hard, and he can hold down the lane with his shield if things go badly.

TwistedFate Top - Never run out of mana with blue cards, rush some spellvamp for sustain if it's needed, and use Teleport + R to become a splitpushing nightmare or globally threatening assassin.

DocShocker2/11/2015, 2:03:40 AM1 votes

Really don't pay all that much attention to "meta" stuff aside from pretty much what's commonly seen/banned in LCS n all. Still slowly dragging along to maybe least see what Ranked is like, but no telling after that.

Top Chogath : Probly my 2nd fave champ in the game. Sure, early game can be scary if jungler shows up, but can easily trade with almost any other top lane that isn't a mage. Plus that fear factor that goes into any enemy laner that knows about Cho's ult is great. Makes them have to think about how to dive due to the true damage nuke if they are at about half hp. One well placed Q then a few E's can end anyone unless they backed already or play ranged. After Cho would be either Nasus or Malphite

Mid Viktor : Granted he's not my most consistent champ, which would belong to Xerath ,but he's by far my most liked champ. Just his whole kit suits me just perfectly. Q for a shield, speed if you have the augment, and some major poke with item 3057 / item 3100 when already have a few other items. W slow/stun can be excellent disengage or engage, along with great team fight potential. E just does massive damage late game with the two-wave effect. And the R.. The damage can feel a little low on initial drop at times, but the silence it brings can change a team fight instantly on the right targets or clusters. Then there's also the zoning that having it out can bring.

Jg Warwick : I'm really only just starting to learn how to jungle and still getting runes together. So far he's the only one I've felt somewhat comfortable with since I don't have too bad a time with sustain. Also trying to learn/prepare for trying out Nasus jungle eventually, but WW feels like a good enough place to start learning how to jungle.

Supp Velkoz : This was a tough one since it's most likely my best role on a team. It was between him or Morgana , granted I can only play Vel on rotation currently. The angle potential on Q is lovely to me. Being able to fire it to the side of a minions wave and split it into an enemy champ, sometimes slipping between minions when moving. W is nice for a bit faster wave clear if needed or some poke/passive stacks. E can be a fight changer if enemy laners slip up or get aggressive when paired with Q. Then there's the glory that is his R. It can be used to secure kills if no one else can reach the target. It can provide a lot of peel in a team fight or to help another team member finish someone, not to mention it can do a LOT of damage to enemy team if the fight is in the jungle where movement is limited. Then there's also the most great part of it. The sheer range allows it to be used as a surprise if you're waiting in the jungle for a gank. Let them push out a little while your team keeps them busy, then fire away and chip their hp while others kill(unless you happen to get it).

ADC: Well, I literally can't play this role. Rather it's much better if I don't. I can deal with last hitting minions fairly well, but just the positioning that gets me in trouble. I prefer to be in the back sending damage over or being a tank/helper up front. I just get into way too much trouble with ADC since it's a sort of middle ground when it comes to maximum damage output for nearly all the ADC champs.

Quinn Top- lots of poke and harass. Safe lane in general thanks to W and Ult. Easy split pushing power and roam potential.

Sion Mid- safe poke. Can ult top or mid easily.

Yorick Jg- easy jungle. Is quite funny for tower dives. Ganks are always at least 5 v 1 (thanks ghouls + ult :3 )

Brand Supp- lots of damage. Ult can bounce between two players for more damage.

Ezreal ADC- non blue build ez. Classic item 3078 but with item 3072 item 3035 item 3031 item 3508 item 3158
