Rumble Jungling!
Hello all,
I've been playing around with the new jungle quite a bit since my last post about a month ago when I started getting into the new jg, asking for some tips/decent champs to take there. I can lane well in all positions (I do best supporting or top, but can mid or ADC decently), but the new jg was kind of daunting.
I'm predisposed to try champs "out of the current meta," such as support
or
, Mid
, etc (I am face-desking hard atm, because I have like 2 dozen champs I play all over the map), so I was disappointed to find that the new jg really funneled players into playing a very small pool of viable champs.
Having always really enjoyed playing Rumble, I was flicking through my champs/skins and remembered I had Super Galaxy Rumble and then saw the "Rumble in the Jungle" skin and said "huh, I wonder."
Rumble having no mana is a great boon to his jungling, and allows you to gift blue to your teammates who might need it more on the second/third spawn, and his ult is imo one of the best abilities for stealing dragons. In the 6 matches I did, I stole 3 dragons with his ult - its range means you don't have to worry about the kiting drag out of range, and its damage means the odds of you last hitting it are fair. Not to mention, you can really hurt the enemy team in the drag pit if you place the ult right across the dragon and the entrance.
So I laid out a quick runepage, mastery page and items and tried it.
I was met every teambuilder match with a hem or a haw, a leaver and a massive whiner. Now I didn't do spectacular, but I've gone 4-2 so far with him in jg. Not bad.
He doesn't have the best of ganks, pre-6, but at 6 with ult and two landed Es, it's almost a
teed flash or kill. Even pre6, two Es get a flash 90% of the time.
However, what I was most surprised at is his first clear. It's fantastic. I tried starting all over, but red seems best. My best first clear was 5 camps - I didn't do raptors. Start with 55 heat (spam that Q while you wait!) and smite red, take W at 2, go Krugs with 50+heat and overheat with Q (to maximize CDs), then to wolves, Gromp (with smite) and lastly blue. I finished my 5 camp first run with 35% hp, too. Not bad, imo! If you're good at micromanaging your heat on the first clear, ensuring you engage camps around 50 heat, and balancing it so your Q overheats you, then you should be able to safely do 5 camps.
After first clear, around level 4 when you can spam spells, the jg clears are a breeze. You can literally overheat as much as possible and destroy them.
I take scaling over flat because the scaling runes meet the values of the flats around level 6, up to which point you likely won't be ganking more than 2-3 times, anyways, so in the long run, as a jungler the scaling make more sense. Alternatively, flat armour seals across the board wouldn't be bad to cut damage from level 1 camps.
In all, I'm looking for tips, thoughts, etc! Thanks!
