Very First Placements

I'm about to take a smurf into placements (for the very first time--no previous ranked games ever). Does anyone know roughly where x amount of wins would put me? I am very familiar with how MMR works and how winning and losing streaks can affect that.

I'm just curious as to if I get x wins, I could be around Silver II, etc.

I know 3 wins puts you around Bronze II. I've heard that 10 wins (and some luck) gets you to Gold I.

Without including your MMR over the games, this is what you'll most likely get. 10/10 - G5 9/10 - S1 8/10 - S2 7/10 - S3 6/10 - S4 5/10 - S5 and then so on. I went 8-2 and got G5 and my MMR was high enough to skip G4 and I can skip G2 as well (whenever I get around to playing a few games and getting a series)

Also, I've heard differing reports as to if duo queuing hurts you or doesn't make a difference.

4 wins get you Bronze 1, that was my score personally any way. I'd assume 5-6 wins gets silver 5 and so on except this rule only works with brand new accounts that have never ranked before.

3 wins got me bronze 1, but 10 wins could get you gold, and it could also get you plat. It depends on where you ended the last season.

You can end up in Plat V as far as i know. Normal Games are based on MMR aswell, but as far as i know the Normal Game MMR doesnt affect you at all. But the really important thing here to notice is that the first games matter the most. Your first game is the most important one. Loose your first one, don't expect Platinum. Loose the Second and third, don't expect Gold at all. So, the first games matter the most, the last games the less in an ongoing curve from the first to the last. Since you haven't had a MMR from last season, you will get the starting MMR which is Silver IV i guess. Don't quote me on that one. So winning the first one gets you a huge amount of MMR, much more than the last one.

you dont need a new account your bronze 5. You will make your way back to bronze because you show you dont have the skills to get out no matter where it places you. 7 wins is like silver 2-3 use ur imagination for the rest.

KDA determines a role in your placements to my understanding. I was 7-3 in mine and placed in bronze 2. My kda was sub par, maybe 3 total over all the games.

It's not only about how many you win, how you play is a big part to it.

For example, if you got carried in the majority of the games you won you'd be put lower than if you had carried the games you won. My first time doing ranked I ended up Silver 4 going 5-5. Others who went that same score have been put in bronze, and some may be put in high silver.

There are a lot of factors in placement.

I believe you either You start with your normals hidden MMR, or maybe something like 1200 MMR, and have it adjusted game after game. Besides the basic of the MMR system with winning / losing streaks, there are just a lot of other factors such as which side you are on. or example, on blue side, your team has lower average MMR, and you will win less per win / lose more per loss due to the blue side camera advantage. But yeah, streaks are a huge factor since there really isn't that large of a MMR gap between the different divisions.

The placements based on win/loss posted by ZYRRA looks fairly accurate. And as mentioned, your actual MMR may be quite a bit higher / lower than where you are placed where you will be having high LP gains / low LP losses or the other way around if you are placed higher than your MMR.

In terms of duoing with people, you will be placed against opponents of a bit higher MMR to compensate.

For reference, here is where I placed S3: Bronze I, 4-6. Very high LP gain (like 30's) but I was never able to win promo into S5, so it was probably where I belonged at the time. S4: Silver I, 7-2. Started 1 - 1, lost a game somewhere in middle, got a loss prevented due to server issues somewhere else. s5: Silver II, 4-6: Did pretty badly, started 2-0, but went on 3 game losing streak. Same thing for last 5 games.

Honestly, don't worry about it too much. Just keep on playing, have fun, and get better and climb naturally.

Highest i heard with 10 wins was Gold 3 but you may be right at gold 1. Not sure though.

A loss earlier on will hurt more than one later, as well. I got gold 3 after winning 9/10 games (lost the 9th one).

My MMR was high enough to skip gold 2 afterwards.
