Needing help in ranked ADC

Last season I ended with Silver 3. This season as of yet I'm doing terrible. I have lost every promotional so far and I don't know what has changedI. I am a support main. Actually a better term would be I am a skillshot champ main. I love skillshot champs. Nidalee, Blitz, Soraka, Ziggs. Those are my best champs. I am the one who land the shots. Blitz is my best champ and I make the hook plays. I actually got into silver just by playing blitz. but when it comes to any other champs, ADC in general I fail.

ADC is my weakest role.

Vayne im truly terrible Jinx im terrible Graves im terrible Lucian double terrible ezreal im ok with Cait is the only adc i'm good with.

Actually Cait is my favourite ADC and the only one I can carry with. How do I move from a skillshot mage based play, to a click based ADC role?

Okay, from what I'm hearing, you're great with skillshots, which explains a bit of your champ skill level. What you have problems with, good sir, is your skill at farming.

It's easy enough to get good at farming. Here's what you do:

  1. Custom game.
  2. Pick a specific champ to farm with (Do not jump too much between champs while doing this, as you need to get used to farming with a single champ)
  3. Farm as usual in lane (Usually the effectiveness of your farming is shown by 15 minutes. You can farm until 20, but no later. After all, can't farm all game)
  4. Repeat

You are great as support, so the importance of positioning is known to you. I suggest playing a few normal matches as one adc and getting the mechanics down.

Farm, orbwalk, and practice kiting. Since you said you're good with skillshot champs, but fail at ADC most likely its because that you suck at trading with basic attacks because you either misclick, can't cancel animation effectively, stutterstep, or kite. Get use to basic attacking by clicking constantly and moving around and position yourself in a good spot. Golds and silvers ADC will either misstep or fail at sidestepping a LOT so they just get rekt.

Probably you're good at Cait because her range allows her to out-trade her opponents and kite a lot easier, but if you plays other adc you'll get rekt if you can't perform basic mechanics.

Another suggestion to add to the pile, just since many people don't seem to do it. Make sure to weave auto-attacks in between your abilities when you harass. For instance, with Graves (just picking him since he's my favorite adc), you want to hit an auto and immediately follow it up with a q, rather than just throwing a q in their faces. Same goes (slightly less so) with Caitlyn and Ezreal's q's. This might also be why you're "double terrible" at Lucian, as his passive necessitates that you weave in autos all the time between spells (aa->spell->aa->spell->etc.->etc.).

OK so I main Graves and Corki... Start with the easiest ADC to learn, Ashe Cait. Abuse her range, poke enemy laners down.

First things first, focus on your CS-ing. Get into a custom game and just AFK farm. Get at least 110 CS @ 15 minutes. Get used to each ADC's auto attack animation and travel speed and sound and everything. As an ADC your priority is to farm unless you're ridiculously ahead (WITH ITEMS) then you can go ahead and group with your team.

Second, trading. As Caitlyn this is really easy to abuse. You can farm safely from a distance with 650 range and Q, and bully enemy laners out since they can't auto you. Also, you should only trade with enemy laner if you know you can win the trade. Or else, back off. EXAMPLE: Cait > Vayne pre-6, so as Caitlyn you should keep harassing her, and she'll cry. Try to shut her down if possible, like asking ganks. Vayne > Cait post-6, unless you're really ahead as Caitlyn. Respect Vayne (more) if she already has Bilgewater Cutlass. At this point of the game as Caitlyn if Vayne knows that she's just going to keep getting stronger, you need to end the game ASAP. Vayne will outscale you so hard late game it's unreal. Unless you're really ahead.

Third, orbwalk. After you cast your auto animation and it did damage, you should click a random place to cancel the whole auto animation projectile. Makes you dodge skillshots more easier and makes you look like a professional ADC main. Kappa

Fourth, kiting. TBH I think almost all of the ADCs are absolutely great kiters, especially Vayne, Ashe. Kiting with Graves, Lucian for me, requires almost no skill if you main ADC. Kiting with Caitlyn, Vayne, Ashe, kinda requires skill. I'll just leave it here, I have no place to talk since I'm bad at kiting too...
