WATCH THE MINI-MAP

If you're an ADC this is especially important, and even easier to do sometimes. Supports should be doing it all the time, you're not doing anything else besides following your ADC help last-hitting by weakening the casters under tower, and occasionally warding whilst also keeping track of Summoner CDs.

Same with a top-laner ESPECIALLY if you're on the side where the tri-bush is behind you. You should firstly be being a pink ward to watch that tri, and also using a regular trinket to ward the river. As a mid-laner get a vision ward on the side where the screen obscures vision, and a trinket on the other side..

Benefits of watching the mini-map:

  • You can spot the enemy jungler on the opposite side of the map doing a camp you warded, or ganking another lane. This means you can go ham if you think the moment is right, or you can trade aggressively now.

Garen Hmm.. looks like Shyvana is ganking bot! Time to go ham! DEMACIAAAAAAAAAA Riven Bro wtf I asked for a gank.. Dies... GG AFK.

  • You can prevent yourself obviously from being ganked..

Leblanc K JUST ONE HUNDRED TO ZERO'D AHRI TIME TO ROAM UP Ahri omg I hate this teamso I'm not going to MIA ping

LUCKILY.. GAREN WAS WATCHING THE MAP SO HE SAW LEBLANC WALK UP THE RIVER! YAY!

Garen Uses broken juggernaut powers to get a double kill Leblanc omg Riven y didnt u follow up? REPORTED Riven A summoner has disconnected

  • You can contest or steal a dragon.. Mid-laner walks downwards, bot-lane up... Mini-map vision....

LeeSin I may be blind but I can still see the mini-map.. Q+SMITE+WARD-HOP OUT Shyvana .... ff at 20 Leblanc reported for bad dragon call and not enough ganks gg

  • Helps you to know when your jungler is going ham!

I know you're farming and you forget to help out your jungler who wants to go balls deep for the ADC. Mini-map fixes this!

Shyvana Tower-diving Lucian & Thresh. Caitlyn Farming still. Shyvana Dies. WTFFFFFFFFFFFF CAITLYN WHY DIDNT U HELP? Nami Off-warding Caitlyn oh my bad Goes in for no reason. Lucian ENEMY DOUBLE KILL Nami y

How do you watch mini-map if you're trying to farm???

After auto-attacking get into the habit from checking the TAB or glancing at the mini-map. It's really helpful and it's there for a reason, use it!

Also try to get into the habit of buying 2 wards on each back! Or at least 1!

A few tips on warding as a support...

I do this is in almost every game that I play support - usually on my first back I have enough to get a sightstone and a vision ward. After my first back and I've grabbed my wards - I will walk straight from base THROUGH THE JUNGLE AND TO THE RIVER. I do NOT go to my lane first and THEN go to the river to ward. This way the enemy team doesn't know exactly where/when you warded. There's nothing more fjewklafjwek annoying than dropping a pink and having it immediately cleared.

If I'm on the red side, I will ward the bush on the enemy side of the river (behind-ish the blue camp next to the wall) for the mid laner to protect him from ganks and a ward at the entrance to the river above dragon pit so I can protect our bot lane from ganks as well. These 2 wards cover any entrance a jungler will take to get to mid/bot from his blue side (aside from people who hop over walls, be invisible, or be lanterned by Thresh). If I have vision of the enemy jungler/bot lane then I will actually ward in the enemy blue buff bush so I can see when it spawns and open up the possibility to steal it. I place my pink either in the tri-bush or in the bush above our red buff to watch for midlane roams coming from behind the dragon pit.

If I'm on the blue side, I don't place pinks near bot lane just because it's way too easy to clear a pink from the bush in the river. I will place that pink in the bush next to the midlane wall (behind our blue buff) for vision of the river. I'll ward in the bush in front of their red buff and in the tri-bush near bot lane. So basically, I ward in all the same places only I place different wards depending on which side I'm on.

The main thing you want to watch out for is when you're warding, ask for someone to come with you or only ward if you have vision of their jungler. There's nothing worse than getting caught out while warding and dying for free. And remember, you're not only warding for your bot lane but for your whole team! Always try to ward for the mid laner, since he is the most vulnerable to ganks.

Hope this helps!

ADCs dont ward, you nub scrub, go back to Wood 5 huehuehue

<ahem>

In reality, its actually a superb idea to help your Support out and ward some places...that was your Support doesn't need to roam all the time to keep wards down and leave you open for a 2v1 #SafetyFirst
