Saving up for T3 rune sale. Here's my plan, tell me if it's bad.

Hi! I'm Level 15, horrible, blah blah. I have been saving up for the upcoming T3 runes for when I hit 20 and here's what I'm planning. I only have 2 rune pages, but I might spring and get the 2:1 deal with RP so I have 4.

6 Armor Pen Marks, 6 Magic Pen Marks, 6 Flat Armor Seals, 6 Scaling Health Seals, 6 Flat MR Seals, 2 AP Quints, 2 AD Quints.

If my math is right I'm 700 IP short atm, so I'll have that np in a day or two. If I don't have the IP during the sale to buy the third quint/other 3 runes of each set, I figure I can get them level by level as the slots unlock while I level up. Does this look like a good plan for my AD and AP pages? And if I have a bit more IP, what would you suggest I branch out and buy?

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, I don't see a newer players forum, and I can't post to GD. THANKS RIOT.

If you really want to save yourself time in the future. I would suggest buying 9 of any of the marks, seals and glyphs you are looking at. Also buy 3 quints of whichever you need. Usually I wouldnt say this is a good idea, but it will def save you time/IP in the future. That being said, once you do have a lvl 30 account and want to play ranked, you will also to need to own 16 champs. Personally, I think the starter bundle is actually a good buy, but other than that I try not to spend RP on buying champs.

There will be a Tier 3 Runes and Rune Page sale from the 22nd to the 26th. I suggest you level up before the sale ends and do your shopping then.

The two best physical damage mark/quint combo are

In general/sustained damage (great for jungles/ADC): AD marks, Attack Speed quints For champion burst damage (for assassin solo lanes/champs with great base damage physical abilities): ArmorPen marks, AD quints

The reason for that is because ArmorPen quints and to a lesser extent AD quints are weaker than they should be (1 ArP quint only worth 2 marks). And AD is great to pick up somehow... Attack speed is the best rune for sustained damage over time if you can constantly auto because you are ranged or jungling.

If you want you can just default to always using flat armor seals for now. Scaling HP is great late game but it's probably best you take the early game safety. Since minions, towers and usually 3/5ths+ of the enemy team is AD (even AP champs should auto you) most players default with flat armor seals all the time. Use your limited rune pages to optimize your offensive stats. I don't recommend anything other than armor or hp for seals.

Magic pen mark and AP quints is the standard AP setup. Hybrid penetration marks instead of magic pen only offer a little less magic pen for 8 armor pen though. But they're more expensive. Hybrid penetration gives you a bit more lane power for stronger ranged AP laners. Slightly less late game damage though. Probably more interesting ways to spend your IP than hybrid pen.

Definitely obtain more than 2 rune pages.

During the 2 for 1 rune page sale, runes are discounted 30%. Have you already factored that into your budget?

The penetration marks, AD/AP quints, and armor seals all look fine and dandy. I don't remember off the top of my head when scaling health becomes better than flat health, but I thought it was kinda late in the game. I'd skip on the scaling health seals and get some glyphs if I were you.

Thanks for the replies guys. Yes, I factored in (roughly) for the upcoming sale, it's in the title of the thread. ;P

I would like to have 3 of each glyph, and 9 of each rune type, but I don't have the IP currently. Before the sale ends I'm pretty hopeful that I will have enough so the pages will be complete, I just don't have enough time to grind games right now in a new semester. So I just looked at what is unlocked around level 20 and level 21, and planned accordingly - that way I have 'full' pages of whats available when I unlock them.

Seems like the rune selection I had mapped out is good though. The scaling health was for my AP page since I mainly fight other AP in mid (and Zed) right now. From what I've read, that seemed to be the suggested rune type.

You guys have sold me though, I'll most likely get the two rune pages during sale. That way I can have AD vs AD/AP setups, and AP vs AD/AP setups at the start, and slowly grow out. I'm in no rush for ranked though - I am only halfway to 30, and I want to play a little bit when I hit 30 before going to ranked. I do NOT want to end up in Bronze 5.
