Because of the enhanced damage on his Q, I'm guessing they can more safely put off crit with Draven in favor of lifesteal. Personally, I favor better sustain in the mid game, but that's just me.

Draven's Spinning Axes apply lifesteal and his Spinning Axes can act as a substitute for the damage of critical hits early.

I would still probably rush IE over BT.

Because he already has enough dmg to 3 shot anybody early game, and isntead of gambling on a 20% lucky crit you get a very nice sustain what draven lacks.

Due to Draven's lack of mobility (his W does not count, it's just a movement speed buff and not a dash/flash of any kind), he is susceptible to high-mobility burst-champions (especially coming from the midlane as well as the top-lane threats that will dive you). As a result, Bloodthirster is often used to provide more survivability in the mid-game, as well as make it more difficult in the laning phase to push Draven out of lane after a scrap/engage. Bloodthirster is also a less risky purchase than Infinity Edge in cases where your kill-pressure in lane is low (Draven's passive requires him to get kill credit in order to properly snowball and have an effect by the mid-game).

In general though, Infinity Edge is the better option in most solo queue matches where the possibility of picking up a few kills in laning-phase/skirmishes exists, as Draven snowballs incredibly hard. If you are in a game where your positioning doesn't need to be as cautious due to the enemy team composition having little to no dive or engage, Infinity Edge is a better pick over Bloodthirster. As I said before, BT is used in situations where you will be bursted and need to be able to stay in the fight, and failed to snowball early game, in spite of the power trough it presents.

item 3508 The first item I rush, which not only gives back life, but also mana to ensure for <Blood Rush> spams and less OOM situations. Plus it reduces downtime on another axe and the all important E. Draven deals a lot of damage, so the shorter life steal isn't as much as an issue. Get more damage and you don't have to worry more about it.

I also grab item 1300 for easier axe juggling and to keep up with the chase. It's a great all around speed boost for him, sorta like a permanent W.

I usually build high Crit damage to shut down anyone in my way, bringing in item 3046 for speed that matches. I honestly can't live without it,

For alternative situations you could grab item 3072 if you have a hard time staying alive. But if you're the kind of guy who's cocky with a COD killstreak, then look no further for damage than item 3141. It's an investment that relies on an exceptional Draven, but a high risk-high reward champ with potentially the hardest AD item? A force to be reckoned with.

Draven, phantom dancer or shiv? Stuck between the two
