How to Make League a More Enjoyable Game. (Part I)
When I first started playing this game (a bit before zyra
came out in season 2) the mood of League was much different. This game was still to the point that it was.....A GAME. However, I have noticed that after season 2 each consecutive season has become much more....negative. These days people just brag about winning constantly to the opposing team ("gg ez" and "bronze noob" come to mind), report for everything under the sun, and scarcely compliment each other. Don't get me wrong, there are still kind players that respect both teams, but these are becoming more and more rare. Giving a double kill to the enemy team makes your opponent stronger and typically will make your team furious with you. Heck, even the phrase "gl hf" is becoming less common.
Because of this negativity, I have found the need to always set an example in my ranked matches. The phrase "attitude is everything" is completely true. When I am nice to my teammates and opposition, we are MUCH more likely to win. When we gain a lead, we tend to keep it and comebacks are more common. Here are some tactics I have used and why they worked:
- Right in queue, I tell my team "ok guys lets have fun, laugh, and win this game". Most people think it sounds kinda cheesy. Some even laugh. But for the most part, it gets the point across. People see that I am not going to go hard-core-must-win, criticize them, and that I want to have fun. Cheery comments like this also get people to start talking positively and start the match with a good mood. When people get positive, disputes get resolved. I have played a match where three people called mid almost simultaneously. I gave this comment, and people sarcastically talked about my optimism. I went along with it and asked them nicely if they had any alternative roles they could do. Even the adc (who i didn't know) went along with me. Needless to say, every one got a doable role without any complaints. I have seen matches where disputes over position cost the team the game (or at the very least make their tolerance for mistakes drop drastically).
FEEL FREE TO DISCUSS!! I WILL START PART II A BIT LATER. SO THAT THE POST ISN'T TOO LENGTHY*
