Swain Support/Jungle?

Hey there, Master Fledgling here.

Swain looks really, really fun from what I have seen and is nigh unstoppable late game. However, he has several items in his kit that make him pop into my head for a Support and Jungler, rather than just terrorizing top and mid lane.

For support, a 2 second, AOE root that isn't minion blocked, several DOTS to keep your spell thief edge constantly proced, a 3 second slow and is flexible enough to work on a cheaper, tanky build over his AP carry, super expensive build.

EDIT: He is also a fan of being around more people while ulting, so 2 v 2 skirmishes favor him.

For jungle, he'd have a rough time till 6, but at which point his clear would be insane. I imagine runeglaive or cinderhulk would work wonders for him, making sense, again, as a crazy carry, an unkillable tank, or somewhere in between.

Cheers and don't mess with crows*,

His clears are painfully slow Pre-6 for the jungle, and his ability to gank isn't great at all as missing your root and then them walking out of your slow neuters you.

Swain is a hugely item dependent champ and jungle doesn't give him the income he really needs, support would be the same - his mana costs are cost prohibitive and his sustain comes from last hitting so you'd be a burden on the laner or you'd be starved.

Simply put Swain is a monster because his items make him that way. as a support if you're not building items to help your team, such as legion or sight stone then you're just giving the enemy team that advantage because likely their support is building those items

Huh, that's unfortunate ... he can't work as a fiddlesticks support or a brand support might -- good CC and teamfights, enjoying longer games as they get the items they want?

Swain's big problem as a support are his mana costs. You're pretty much forced to build mana/mana regen items on him since you can't make any use of your passive. Because of this you are very vulnerable to all ins pre-6. If you can make it out of his rocky early game though he can be a somewhat effective support. Not sure if he's really top tier though.

He would be a weak support... his harass is too low range, his snare is very easy to dodge, and he doesn't have the money to get the items he needs to be tanky AND take care of his mana problems...

His snare is not enough utility to warrant picking him. You would have better luck with Galio, Lux, Zyra, or Vel'koz if you want to do damage and have decent utility at the same time.
