So Ive been getting bored recently with league becasue i get bored of things very fast. I usually like to make unusal picks work. My favroites include

i get the most satisfaction out of playing standard games, so not really sure what to suggest
when i wanna mess around i just play ARAM and build however I feel like building since i'm guaranteed gold income that way even if my build sucks.

Only tried it in bots, and i don't know how outside the meta it actually is, but i'm finding Ashe Liandry's Torment support to be pretty fun.
Frostfang+Sighstone+Boots+Tear of the Godess or Chalice of Harmony and then you get liandry's about when you max your Q and start on your W.
because spammable aoe slow is hillarious.
Not quite sure how to round it though, obviously upgrade Frostfang for the extra CDR but other than that i'm not sure.
Current aim is usually Seraph's embrace+Nashor's tooth for some Autoattack damage, more damage on your R, maxed out CDR and some AS. As well as a shield for when you find yourself overextended or otherwise out of position.
It's really fun but i'm kinda afraid to try it in normals, mostly because of how squishy ashe is early on.

You can actually help with the engage/disengage
You could try AD Malphite, his w brutal strikes increases AD and Armour by 20/25/30/35/40% and passively gives his attacks 30/38/46/54/62% splash damage. Combine that with a ravenous hydra and could could be wrecking with your AOE auto-attacks.

Urgot is a unusual pick?
I had win streaks as Urgots with builds such as Bruiser, AP/AD and etc...
Urgot is just rare because people don't play him enough for others to realize such powerful champion it is. Urgot is a ADC with damage reduction, slow, armor shred and extreme range and poke.
If you don't even know why Urgot is uncommon and calls him "Unusual" and "Weird".... why are you even playing.
