The perfect (for me) support?

Hey there, Master Fledgling here.

I hung up my smite skill and have dedicated myself to protecting bot lane, warding everything and 1 v 2 ing kills in the bot lane. 1 v 3 if the enemy jungler ganks.

Oh yes. Support carry begin.

Sorry, Yellowstar has reminded me to be humble. My apologies. (I am incredibly tired and am in the last week of finals, if you could not tell.) Before I've the chance to ramble anymore, is there any support that can:

Initiate all by themself Has reliable CC Can build damage or tank Has some mobility Is not crazy mana hungry/is mana free at best

Bonus

Some sort of global presence/is mobile enough to help other lanes if needed

I know that is a lot to ask for! The best answers I have come up on my own are Gangplank, Kennen, Shen ... and that's sort of it, actually.

I also get some nasty words thrown at me for these off-meta supports, but that's another issue entirely.

Cheers and respect yo Support (Because they don't get paid enough)

well if you're going to be a support main you should learn 1 of each type of support. Hard engage, AP poke and sustain. The reason this is important is because they are all counters to eachother rock paper scissors style. If the enemy team blind picks their support and you're able to counter it you'll have an extremely high chance of winning lane.

My personal go-to support champs are Leona Lulu Soraka and if I have to blind pick I'll just take leona

It just got out of the meta but gotta advise Blitzcrank He got all of the above exept mana problems, you can solve that by taking lots of utility mastery and saving your hooks, or just stack an early tear for this massive mana shield bait. You can help out other lanes with some flash hooks/or W sprint hooks and sprint back into lane with ** W ** or/and boots of mobility. Only take him if you know how to hook!

Gotta say Soraka is not that bad either, you can build her as a tank and have lots of cooldown to keep everyone alive. You just gotta know when and where you put your E , practise the landing of Q and be able to keep yourself safe. If you really wanna be tank you can take the tank mastery tree too. But you just gotta find out how it works for you.

And as last Leona If you play her well, and get an adc you can go offensive with, you just kill your lane and go roam to mid (while knowing your carry is safe). She is also great in teamfights and her ult has this massive range you don't wanna know about. Leona is just a strong pick these days so_** I would recommend her**_ the most, just because (I think) she is pretty easy to learn

Don't like these? Try out: Thresh For the plays/saves Nautilus For the lockdown (+passive/ignite + W does more damage than you think) Lulu For bursting your tank (and more) Braum For the mustache (also ult and passive burst) Taric Yes, him! He is great with and vs ad and his passive/ult gives him a lot of damage too.

Could give more information but just ask about anything and I will explain.

  • 1 more tip, you carry the best to keep track over every enemy and warn your lanes because you don't have to focus farm anyway + practise your warding skill, it's more important than you think.

Thresh Is pretty cool, he's the only support i really play. Can't really do the global presence but he can do those other things you listed. Pretty mobile.

My personal favorite is Leona. She is very forgiving mid to late game. She also has a strong early game vs most comps but especially sustain comp. If you have an adc with a burst kit (Lucian, Corki, Graves), it's easy to dominate the bot lane. She is an overall safe pick with an easy kit to master. Not to mention, 1v1 capabilities. :P I highly recommend her at least in any plat and lower elo.

But if you're looking for those off-meta supps, other people probs got a better answer for you.

With all the other suggestions mentioned are great picks. I'll add a few more.

Blitz: If you get good at landing is Q, makes any fight 2 v 1, 3 v 2, 4 v 5. He's very useful at making your team win the numbers game. He also has good CC with E and R.

Mao'kai: Great tank. Good initiate with W + Q (which slows) combo. His E provides free vision for 30 ish seconds, and slows enemies when the saplings hit. His R protects anyone within the circle providing 20% damage reduction (both AP and AD).

Annie: Tibbers stun, locking down at least 3 enemies while doing a lot of damage (no real escape)

Naut: His entire kit his CC except his shield, but that makes him more tanky. Even his AA's have CC

Nami: Heals and CC. The hardest part about her is learning how to land bubbles.

Alistar: has great peel and initiate. He also has a very little heal. His R makes him too tanky.

Braum: He has a slow, a knock up with R, can easily dash to a teammate, and as a really thick shield to block anything you try to throw at his team. He is also really tanky.

Volibear: I've been trying him lately. He has is his flip, which is great peel or initiate, his E slows and fears. He does pretty good damage without building offense items. Bot lane doesn't want to fight when you have his passive.

I do prefer Thresh, but in my elo it's hard to get a team that can capitalize on the plays I make or to get them to grab my lantern.

Traditional supports that fit your requirements: Blitzcrank, Thresh Non-tradtional supports that fit your requirements: Nautilus, Wukong

Shen hits pretty much all your points, tbh.

Soraka has global presence and if you actually get movespeed (b/c no her passive does not count as fucking general mobility) she can be pretty zippy. However, her CC is unreliable at best and she has a pretty high skill floor. Building resistances (not health) lets her build tanky and get a bit of AP.

Some sort of global presence/is mobile enough to help other lanes if needed

Very few supports have mobility. The most mobile supports currently are Braum, Bard, Naut, and Janna (with her passives). However, Janna is not great at initiating, Braum is not that great if you build damage on him, and Bard is far from reliable. Naut has good CC, initiation, and mobility, while being a tiny bit mana hungry and should be built tank primarily. Lissandra is a niche-pick support; though, she has mobility and CC, and she can be built tank or damage.

Lots of people are recommending Soraka for her global presence, but she is bad at initiating, does not have reliable CC, is not built well with tank or damage IMO (she's built better with utility), and is not very mobile. She is the only support with global presence, though.

Leona, Thresh, and Annie are some of the best initiators with hard CC. However, they are not mobile, and while Annie can be built tank or damage, Leona and Thresh are both optimally built tanky. (You can do a cool trick with Thresh' hook to give you some mobility by hooking jungle camps to escape, but other than that he is pretty immobile). Morg has good CC, and her snare and ult are great initiation tools, but often it is better to save them for peels.

The most mana hungry supports are Nami, Lulu, and Sona in my experience.

Just laying out all of my thoughts; hope they help! :)

EDIT: Completely forgot about Blitz. His hook is probably the most broken form of CC in the game, he can actually be built either tank or damage (whether AD or AP), his mobility got nerfed (cry me a river, Blitz players), and has a tonne of presence with his hook. Even though he is mana hungry if he misses abilities or spams, if you land hook once or twice on a squishy target within a 5 minute time-frame, you have an almost guaranteed kill on that target. And, even though he does not have a global ability, sometimes just walking into mid lane can make the enemy mid laner blow their flash.

**Overall, I'd say your best options are Liss, Naut, and Blitz based on your criteria. **

Braum Leona

I second Thresh. He's pretty versatile in how you can play him.

And the only support with a global presence is Soraka. Unless you want to run Ashe support which is off meta still.
