When to get a bling blade?

Say you eventually want to build a item 3087 or item 3142, but not at the moment. Is getting and sitting on it early as a minor gpm item worth it? Like, potentially, a MasterYi build going something like (jungle item), item 3006, item 3093, item 3153? I'm not really sure how to do the math factoring in LH/min or other things like the value of a completed item vs the minor parts. (Pretty sure that the wiki has something on that on each item page but not sure how to work that out I'm afraid. Help would greatly be appreciated.)

EDIT: Seems from what people are saying, I'm putting too many eggs into the basket of the minor gp/5 instead of being more combat ready with just a little more gold. Thanks all

most pros get brut then a full unrelated item then finish bruts build, avarice isnt worth it and you should be backing with the 1400g or whatever brut into ghostblade costs at that point in the game anyway

I'll play devils advocate here and say it's not always that simple. The reality is you are trading early game power for a spike in late game gold. if you buy a more offensive item and don't take control of the lane or in fact still manafe to lose it...you may well be worse off than if you bought blind blade and passively farmed waiting for that mid to late game gold spike.

It almost seems to me to be a better item if you are behind because it allows you to generate gold even when you are being zoned...and it makes every last hit you do manage to get more meaningful.

A. assuming you build a core item that includes blind blade...

B. You are willing to sit on it as long as possible...

It will allow you to hopefully hit a mid game power spike from gold generation and item purchases that gets you some traction and back into the game.

The power curve for blind blade compared to other items is odd because it's greatly depends not just on how long you can hold it...but also what you might have been able to accomplish with a better item. It may end up a wash more often than you think...but in some scenarios I do see blind blade being the better choice. I'm not sure it's relevant though, because even if it does give you more net gold than another item might have in a losing lane...the fact you lost lane may decide the game more than your income. Then again...maybe not.

I would not get Avarice(or bling blade as you called it) before you were finishing the item. It has virtually no combat stats, only 10% crit chance, for 800 g. If you would have gotten a Vampiric scepter for the same price to go into bork, you have a lot more combat stats. As a jungler, everything you do has to be efficient, or you fall behind. If you get something else for the same price, like a Vamp scepter, you can clear faster, and for longer, resulting in more gold overall, better damage in skirmishes and ganks, and more exp, because you don't have to go back as soon. I hope this helps!

It honestly does. Thank you both.

The only champion I'd ever suggest using item 3093 on is Gangplank because his Q can crit and its gold-generating passive stacks with Avarice. You're better off just getting item 1051 and another ~400 gold item (or you could upgrade your trinket!).
